Like he won in spite of Favre, and Pennington? Yes, we have 3 QBs to Judge Schotty by. You just dont like to talk about that.
Tomorrow, ill go a little deeper...over drafted from USC? Keyshawn, mark says hello. OK, in college? Yeah, he only put up 400 yards in the Rose Bowl.,, you know that same bow game you put up 200 yards in, that got you....over drafted. Big, good hands..land...SLOW. Pot, kettle? Flashlight, anyone?
So, explain to us...who is running the Coryell offense. With retreads, and mediocrities at the skill positins. Do you guys go out of your way to prove Junc right?
Cmon, you're a mod. You should know better. Its Soccer gear. Google, Soccer..headbands. Fcol guys. Suckitude is one thing...but man oh man. And, for a fact...he credited It to his favorite soccer player. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324049504578543724225971236.html Discussing how much he sucks, is that much more difficult, when you make shit up.
If the guy who's butt Sanchez is sticking his hand into play after play doesn't have a problem with this I don't understand how anyone on this board,.. Or in general does. if you don't like it fine. Are you also going to go into an 18page flame war over his choice of tie next time?
Great post. On the one hand, Sanchez came out too early but on the other hand, Sanchez was banking on a major payday.....Looks like Mark's gamble paid off(literally) if you look at the amount of $$$$$ he's stolen...err, I mean "made".
The thing that I really don't understand here is that in the same breath some of the people here swear ( and i agree ) that the Jets did a TERRIBLE job of developing Sanchez, and then turn around and say we should throw Geno into the starting position and let him learn and burn on the fly against one of the toughest stretches of teams we need to face, by week 5 the same fans most of you say are going to be booing Sanchez to the bench are going to be on Geno just the same, The only difference is that they'll wait for Geno to make a single mistake and not just boo him out of the tunnel. If they're even in camp you start Sanchez and let the rookie learn. Wilson started last year because he was CLEARLY better then the competition. Kap sat most of the season and waited for an injury to get the start. Why do you all want to kill this kid same way we did Sanchez? If we wait the team loses nothing. Maybe Sanchez makes it through the year and surprises people, Maybe we get to the point we're eliminated and Geno gets a few scrap games at the end of the season with no pressure. That puts us in a spot to either A) Trade/demote Sanchez' contract, and let them battle it out again in Camp. or B) Cut Sanchez, Draft Top Prospect QB, Battle out with Geno in camp next year. Truth is with the compensatory picks we're going to get that 2nd round pick really doesn't mean enough to stop us from spending another pick early next season on QB.
I'm guessing you ain't been to Oakland.... Now Hobbes has resorted to defending Sancho's hairband?...based on a story in the *gasp* media? Now that's a "good punt"....
sancho will not be wearing green next year if geno plays this year. i would like to see what we have. once upon a time guys didnt come in and start day 1, those days are over. just so long as their is a line that can protect him as much as any other line then i see no issue starting him if he shows he can do the job. this is not david carrs line, he is not going to get absolutely obliterated. he will struggle at times just like every first year qb does but maybe just maybe things slow down a bit for him and we realize we have a qb who can really make a difference over the next 5 to 12 years. or we pull up our boot straps and go find ourselves a functional quarterback. the new york jets really need to determine if they want to invest time in geno smith or not, he doesnt cost shit for money but they have to decide time wise what they want to do. i am sure idzik has a plan, i am sure he has it laid out year over year and i am sure that one of the main components of it is his qb position... and is probably not mark sanchez.
Except when Mangold wears one, he doesn't look effeminate. When Sanchez wears it, he looks like Sofia Vergara. Ok...maybe not, but maybe one of the Jonas Brothers.
I have said times and again about this issue. I have supported starting Sanchez not because he is better, but because I wanted to see Jets protecting their investment. They already ruined one investment at QB position recently and that's one too many. When Walsh started his dynasty run, he didn't rush Montana into the game - he let Montana watch DeBerg getting destroyed in the pitch at times. I even gave this multitude historical examples of how to raise a QB. All that fell on a deaf ears, under the banner of 'Anyone but Sanchez.' If you thought logic had any place in this place, you're in for a rude awakening. [But then, if logic indeed belonged here, the likes of junc's drivel doesn't belong here either so...]
Hey wait a minute, I know what you did there. It's called logic, thanks for making sense and not letting the blind love or hate come in the way I Def agree with this post. I want to see Geno against real competition, and if he excels then by all means let him start. However if he plays, not looks, like a rookie then let him grab the board. Let see what a Geno can do vs Mark with our offense. I get The feeling a Rex wants Geno in a Kapernick back role initially. This way they can ease him in to start, vs throwing him to the wolves.
The mistakes the Jets made when it comes to Sanchez were many, but starting him as a rookie was not one of them. First, it was a mistake to draft a QB in the first round who had played only one year a college. Second, it was a mistake to trade up for a QB who had played only one year in college. Third, it was a mistake to use Shittenheimer as OC. Fourth, it was a huge mistake to re-up Sanchez's contract after he demonstrated clearly that he was not NFL caliber starter. The Jets should start Geno and see what he can do.
Only going to address part of this. There is no comparison between Sanchez coming out of College and Smith coming out of college. Sanchez had a total of 487 total Pass plays in his entire college career and in his Junior season only had 366 attempts. Geno smith had as many attempts in each of his two last two college years as Sanchez had in his entire college career with 526 attempts in 2011 and 518 in 2012, In his Sophomore season Smith had 372 pass plays, more than Sanchez had in his Junior season. In fact Smith ran 1,465 Total pass plays in college. In short While Sanchez exited college with very limited experience Smith exited college a very seasoned QB in an offense, that while it ran out of the shotgun, was very reliant on the QB making the correct call off of the defensive read. In short Smith ran an offense where he was often calling audibles at scrimmage, where as Sanchez came out of a scripted system. Does that mean Geno will be successful? No, but aside from having to relearn playing from under center he's light years ahead of where Sanchez was coming out of college in terms of experience, and more importantly track record. Geno had 3 years starting and improved each year. Sanchez had one year under his belt so there is little track record to compare to. There were however warning signs about Sanchez, in his Sophomore year where he only had 7 TD's to 5 Int's with a 60% completion percentage in 114 attempts. (about 1/4 of his total college throws). In other words his Sophomore season or Junior season the real sanchez? With Geno he never completed less than 64.8% of his passes, and never had less than a 3 to 1 TD to interception ratio. (excluding his freshman season where he only had 49 attempts. Again, this doesn't mean that Geno will be a success, But it does illustrate the difference between the two QB's coming out of college. They're very different creatures. Geno is however a much safer bet coming out of college than Sanchez was, With sanchez he was very inexperienced and really only had 1 decent season in college to gauge off of. With Geno you have 3 full seasons to gauge off of and see that he improved each season in college, which is what you want to see.
Sanchez opened up about the headband on the official site. He's growing his hair out in order to donate it. Pretty nice thing to do.
1. Explain how the Jets "ruined" Sanchez 2. Every QB is different and there is no right or wrong way to develop a QB. If Geno proves himself then he should start.
Had to fix that for him and you. I love the girl's hairband on Mangold because he's a very funny guy and he's always looking at ways to crack people up. Sanchez is a different story.
