Sanchez may not get the chance to repair his damaged reputation.

I now believe that Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback for the NY Jets
    when we face the Bucs.

    Thanks for the memories, Mark

using the same broad strokes one could say that schottenheimer won in spite of mark sanchez.

thats why its good to look a little bit deeper into how the qb performs than to use those broad brush strokes.

i agree it is VERY difficult to win inspite of your qb, you can win games here and there. thats exactly what the jets did in 2009 won games here and there and were lucky enough to make the playoffs at 9-7 and get a couple good games at the end of the year.

in 2010 i gave mark some credit, he played well at times. never great but decent at times. he also put the team in a position to lose a number of times and ended up winning late. which is good for him but i also contend that he put the team in a position to have to come from behind.

the things mark has going for him is that he is tough and not injury prone and that he can lead the team from behind.

i am more than willing to give him those 2 things. i think they are accurate and the 2 biggest positives he brings.

however he has never shown he was able to make all the throws consistently, or even almost consistently. he is now a scared quarterback, he has been that way since baltimore 2 years ago. he has absolutely terrible ball security and hasnt really been a great leader on the field or in the locker room (which i will admit is conjecture on my part).

i think i actually said in 2010 that i am beginning to trust this kid. but that was a long long time ago and he never got me to really trust him.

however when he played well and showed me things that i thought were positive i did give him credit.

those things just happened far too infrequently and have been surrounded by long streaks of high throws over the middle, low throws to the sideline and throws on the back shoulder of the back out of hte backfield.

throw in a number of lay down sacks, numerous looping fly ball ints and bottom of the league fumbles numbers and we have aLOT of issues at the qb position.

When you get to the point that you are arguing with somebody over absurdities it's not their fault, it's on you. Just walk on by, looking at the chalk outline on the pavement, and be glad it's not you that was lying there.

You absolutely cannot have a rational argument about Mark Sanchez with a couple of the posters on this board because they are so invested in a logical absurdity that they can't let go of it.

You know what happens to Nyjunc at this point if he lets go of a 1,000 post defense of Mark Sanchez?

Irrelevance. He's painted himself into a corner that he can't possibly get out of at this point. He made the unfortunate choice to do that over a player that almost nobody else believes is any good. In the end he's going to have to reconcile that somehow but instead he will likely lash out at the Jets when they finally make his mistake clear even to him.

    I am in awe.

In fact, splitting my sides. "Spot on" doesn't describe.

when Sanchez finally flames out, junc will simply defend his position by claiming it was valid because we had won those first two years and part of the 3rd, and any failure of Sanchez at the end of year 3 forward is irrelevant to his argument about the first two plus.

Sanchez will simply have become horrible towards the end of his third year, but was great up to that point.

Not sure if I disagree with anything Keyshawn said, but the article's title doesn't even reflect what he said in his comments.

This is why no one should ever read this swill from ESPN.

It's one of the reasons, anyway.

He's literally wearing female gear. What's next? Eye shadow? Lip stick? A dress? Clown shoes?

Worse then a Muslim eating swine. I don't know why I read this article in the first place. It's sad that they have to resort to opinionated articles to try and make the Jets look bad. BSPN lives on forever.

I agree with some points in the article but just like I said the title is so misleading. It's prob the only way they get clicks on their articles.

All you need to know about Sanchez.

    4 years pro.
80 TD's between rushing and passing
89 turnovers between Fumbles and Interceptions.
    Career 55.1% completion rate.
37 of his turnovers came during his 2 "good" years he "led" the Jets to the playoffs
35 of his TD's came during his 2 "good" years he "led" the Jets to the playoffs.
Even in his "good" where he "led" the team to victory he turned the ball over more than he scored. And that's not even the sign of being a good game manager.

Mark's always had poor judgment in the passing game and poor ball protection when it's in his hands. Mark was very inexperienced coming out of college, I'd say I'd blame the Jets for playing him right from the start..but I can't, Sanchez elected to enter the Draft despite recommendations from most everyone including his coach that he wasn't ready to move to the NFL.

We can argue what coulda been, what shoulda been, and what mighta been till the cows come home, that's all purely academic theoretical debate and has no practical application. What does matter is what is, and we have a 5 year Vet who has very limited experience with a west coast style offense, 16 starts in college, who can't outshine a rookie coming from a spread offense shotgun system.

Have the Jets done him any favors? No, aside from paying him far more money than his performance was worth anyways. However, Sanchez did himself the greatest disservice by leaving college too early as a Junior with 16 starts (give or take a couple) under his belt and playing on a USC team who's receivers were far better than the people covering them.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters is you have a QB who can't take care of the ball and teams don't perceive as a threat so they constantly stack the box against the run because they have no fear of Sanchez's passing game beyond 15 yards.

I don't hate Sanchez, he just is what he is.. a gifted, but not the most gifted, athlete who has never progressed.

the scariest thing 68 is that we now have a coordinator who really really likes to throw the ball.
