Sanchez was in the 8-12 range, I have no problem w/ someone calling him 12 but no lower than that.

You don't have to agree w/ me, I post my opinions and you post yours. My opinions are based on watching teams and players play, yours appear to be based solely on rankings and stats that is why you think Chad Pennington was better than Dan Marino.

My opinion is based on watching the games too. The only difference is that if I say Sanchez sucked as a rookie the stats back up that opinion. If I say the run game was great in 2010 the stats back up that claim. All you have to go by is conjecture and coulda woulda shoulda's.

But he didn't suck as a rookie so you don't really know what you are watching. The run game wasn't great in 2010 so you don't really know what you are watching. My guess is you just use stats.

Because you say so? The numbers and his performance say otherwise.

Again, you clearly do not understand what you are watching if you think sanchez sucked as a rookie and we had a great run game in 2010.

Nah you don't know what you're watching if you thought Sanchez was good as a rookie. I can back up my opinion with numbers you can only use conjecture to back up your opinion. The run game was great in 2010 and the numbers speak for themselves. You just wanna discredit the run game because you want to give the illusion that Sanchez didn't rely on the run game that year.

except your #s show 3-4 bad games, he played 15 so over 70% of his games were not bad.

I have explained 2010 multiple times, if you choose not to listen that is on you. keep on looking foolish, keep on pretending that "great" week 17 demolition of a terrible Bills team in a meaningless game meant anything.

After Chad hurt his arm I was one of the people on this board screaming for the Jets to go in a new direction the most. With that said Chad could have won a super bowl after the surgery with what Sanchez was given his first two years.
Sanchez was never good. We had a SB ready team that protected him. He will never be able to make the plays necessary to carry a team to a SB in the post season.

I love Chad, one of my all time favorite Jets but Chad never played in postseason like mark did.

We had Chad w/ that supposed SB ready team then we traded for Brett favre- what happened?

No one carries a team to the SB and no he was never going to be a Brady type but we know we can win big w/ him.

You guys can waste words arguing with Junc, but LT said on NFL radio that if the qb competition is even just close, Sanchez is on the bench.

He said that once Smith starts, there's no going back. He also said that Sanchez has pretty much realized this.

Nonsense? Maybe. LT has got to come up with something to talk about...does he still know the team...who knows.

This is the Jets, where weird, wacky shit happens all the time.

Endless rotations of nyjunc denial is (well it is to me at least nowadays) a pretty entertaining read, in careful doses.

But I'll just post these facts, free of personal opinion:

    • Mark Sanchez already in January this year knew when MM was signed, that the Jets would play a West Coast offense in the 2013 season.
    • Knowing this, gave him a head start to prepare for the WCO offensive scheme on his own, which resulted in him working out with former NFL QB Jeff Garcia (who's also had MM as his offensive coordinator).
    • The WCO should suit Sanchez particularly well, considering this is the offensive scheme he played while having success at USC.
    • Acclimating to become an NFL player has proven to be a challenging task to many players - Mark Sanchez is however familiar with playing in the NFL, entering his fifth season.
    • Every team has it's own atmosphere and style, Sanchez is also accustomed to playing specifically for the Jets and have established some sort of relationships with the majority of players, having played with this franchise the last four seasons.
    • Geno Smith was, at earliest, made aware he would play in an West Coast offense the same night he was drafted, on April 26th.
    • Smith has never played in an WCO and rarely took snaps from under center in college.
    • Being a young man, Smith has commented that the biggest challenge for him so far has been the actual relocation to his new environment.
    • Every face on the Jets team is a new one to Geno, and he will have to establish his place in the hierarchy in the group, as with any social environment.
    Personal opinion:
Should a QB competition between these two be close, really?

    Junc, I have to ask,

what makes sanchez actually good again? no, snark just a complete lack if understanding on my part. there must be something consistently positive about him.

Ignoring stats, and apparently ignoring his technique or ability in or out of the pocket(unless thats what it is) i can't find much reason beyond he has a winning record.

wins are as useless a way of looking at QBs as fantasy stats like QB ratings are. what makes him worth it? how does he get those wins? what is his winning formula?

you've told me that while you like Flacco, you would prefer sanchez over him. why? he's as much a playoff winner as mark, more so really. whats a generalized thing he does that gets him the edge in your mind?

and please don't ask me to compile several statements from the past, just a brief statement. give me something he does well that he's done a lot of.

I'm honestly curious because I don't get your standard of quality QB's.

No, it shouldn't be close...for all the reasons you listed above.

The fact that all reports say that it is does not bode well for Mark.

I'm thinking the Sanchez era is ending.

Nothing right now, if we can get him back to 2010 and improve upon that then I'd take him over most QBs. will that happen here? probably not, what will likely happen is he'll be released after the season, sign on as a backup then eventually he'll get a chance to start and I expect he'll shine at that point and we'll kick ourselves.

For me it is all about winning, it's hard to win in this league and we know we can win w/ him. Flacco wasn't winning w/ our talent last year, neither was Eli, Brees, etc...

As far as what he used to do well? he used to have good footwork, could slide in the pocket, threw well on the run and off play action. We have gotten away from that b/c most importantly we haven't had a great ground game. he has a nice deep ball but has had no one to throw to, if he had Flacco's incredible weapons last year they go just as far.

I could go out there and look, looking good in practice isn't that big of a deal. Looking good when the games start is another deal. If Geno can translate this to games he'll be our starter.

Your interpretation of bad and good is different than the rest of society. So I can't go by you.

I wish we were facing stronger teams this pre-season.
