I'm just sayin - you sound like a Sanchez apologist when you excuse away his mistakes. His entire career has been excused away on this site.
My sentiment exactly. The Jets already rushed a QB into the starting job too early in the recent past. No need to do it again unless Smith is head and shoulders better.
I understand your point but that kind of tactic sends the wrong message. You play the guy that gives you the best chance to win. If Geno is that guy then you play him. What's the purpose of a competition if Sanchez is gonna start no matter what happens in camp? Bad QB's get ruined once they're exposed to real NFL defenses. If Geno wasn't ready we would probably have some idea by now and we would have an idea that Sanchez is the favorite. But by all accounts it looks like Geno is leading the race right now.
We want guys who will help us win More guys like Mangold, Wilkerson, Revis and Ferguson Less guys like Sanchez, Holmes and Hunter
sanchez cant really afford to have bad days like today if geno is going to continue to improve. the cs wants this over sooner than later, and if geno keeps getting better and mark falters, geno will probably be penciled in as the number 1 to be tested out in the preseason games. maybe a bit of a quick overreaction but it doesnt look good for mark going 33% on 9 passes with an interception being knocked away by a lineman...
^^^^ This. At some point you just get sick of watching the same player fail over and over again. You might like the player as a person, but at some point the ineptitude becomes to taxing to watch. Regarding embarrassment, Sanchez managed to turn the Jets back into a blooper reel team, which is something they hadn't been since 1996.
I think the coaches will see a better picture after the first preseason game. MM always states that in his experience one QB will just remove himself from the competition all together. I am hoping that that is starting to happen.
In a way I want this to end sooner. I want the starter to get as much reps with the 1st team as possible. But at the same time I understand that the competition has to play out. Let's see how both guys look in the green and white scrimmage and preseason.
I find it amusing that someone who thinks it's funny to tell everyone he's at there mom's place wants to act offended at me calling Sanchez's gay headband gay.
That is fine if you feel that way, but you should still cheer for him to succeed. I am sure, if he is named starter, you would not cheer for him to fail come regular season time. The Jets could be in great shape if their 5th year starting QB finally gets it. If he doesn't, then he is just a flop. Who wants that? Not me. However, if Geno outplays him, that is also great for the Jets. Let Smith start then. If Geno wins by default because Sanchez is terrible? That helps no one.
Your location implies that you are at our mothers houses Some of our moms are old, sick or dead Do you think that's necessary
Im rooting for Geno, but a possible red flag is the number of sacks he takes during practices and Rex saying he holds the ball too long.... Real defenses will give him even less time that what we are seeing in practice so he needs to work on firing the rock out much quicker.
Jane McManus @janesports 1m Ryan said he is trying to cut Calvin Pace back a few reps in practice along with other veterans like Braylon Edwards. #Jets Expand
I would say it sure helps the Jets if they've upgraded from terrible at the QB position. Seems obvious but what do I know?
Film study will help that Tuck and run or escape the pocket Geno hates to run, doesn't want to be labeled
not an overreaction at all - this is his 4th camp and he should be zipping along here without the same nonsense from the prior year or 2. However with another new offense u do have to cut slack. the rookie has a new offense as well.
