    I did read it.

Too much fluff. Too little substance. And a lot of negative light. I cannot say it was the best piece I've seen, even for a preliminary article about the Jets.

So Geno can throw the long ball in CAMP and Mark is accurate in CAMP. Good story, can't wait for Live defense, and blitzes.

Oh btw were in camp, and he throws a pretty long ball, and passes the eye test? What the heck is this FASHION FOOTBALL?

Obviously for the real circus (media), they need a close qb competition. So they have to build up Geno. That's why we have tweets and stories abt Geno. Good to have 2 competent qbs, you never know one might be down.

Andy, I clicked on the link in Abyzmul's reply with a feeling of dread. I'm used to articles from aspiring writers being awful. That is not usually because the person is a poor writer, it's usually just because they are inexperienced. I have been writing professionally for over 20 years and when I look at some of my early stuff it makes me cringe. Your comment that you've only been writing since February also made me think you must be very young.

So I was really pleasantly surprised by the structure of your work. The content is, I believe, weak, and relies too much on prevailing notions about the Jets 'circus'. However, you put the piece together well, it reads easily and it has a certain flair, although it seems formulaic. I think Abyzmul was dead on the money when he said it reads like a beat reporter article.

One of the hardest things for a writer to do is to have the courage to find their own voice. What you have written here is a good impression of a beat reporter and that might one day land you that sort of job. If that's what you want, great. I would not turn down the chance to be a beat reporter for a sports team!

However, the piece came over to me like someone doing an impersonation - a good one, but still just an impersonation. You are at the start of your writing career and it will take time to develop your own style, but that's what you'll need to really stand out. I would recommend (if you haven't already) looking at some sports writing outside the realm of internet articles. See how Norman Mailer or George Plimpton wrote about sport. Look at how they tried to convey something more than the surface impression that we get through TV and the internet. Then make sure you don't try to impersonate them!

You've been brave to ask for feedback here, and your work is nothing to be embarrassed about, which is more than I can say for most young writers. Don't take the criticism too much to heart, don't develop a need for affirmation from others, and give yourself time to develop your own style.

Andy, well written. Except....if the premise is, A line in the sand....you didnt provide one, its far too early for that kind of moment.

I think your assesment of the situation is accurate, but they are in the dancing stage.

(and fwiw, imho...Rex is still the guy with woodys ear, not Idzik)

Jad fhe article been titled, "And so the dance begins...."

Your points would have driven home, because thats really the gist of your article. The beginning of a power struggle...not the defining moment of one.

I agree with you, he's a rookie, he doesn't know anything about this league. he'll learn going forward. I am very encouraged by what I am reading about him, I want to see it w/ my own eyes but I am happy w/ both QBs at the moment.

We learned all we needed to know from your previous posts.

I don't try to convince anyone of anything, 10 years ago maybe when I didn't have a family and I studied tape but I am nowhere near as knowledgeable as I used to be but I'm still more knowledgeable than average fans and I can still help. You choose to attack rather than to learn, I always like to learn which is why I like debating.

    Knock off the childish cursing.

Yes, I do like the writing, I should have mentioned that. I didn't read any of your others yet and do not subscribe to Twitter, but I will check them out later.

Theres a second angle to that.

The media has already tried to paint Geno as a diva. Prudence dictates that unless Geno is Joe Montana, or Sanchez falls on his face, sanchez will start, while Geno grows.

As soon as the Jets lose a game, or Samchez throws a pick, the line will be "geno couldnt beat this guy out? "

And, just wait...they will examine every facial Expression, etc ad nauseum. Like the hot dog moment. Rookie Guy gets hungry, scarfs a dog, and thats news. I realize they dont stock protein bars on the sideline, but cmon man.

Don't curse at the new troll clique that lives on here. It's a good way to get banned.

im with you, i have typed this exact statement many times, i actually typed it yesterday and took it out because i am not going to let him make me angry.

his seems to try to make people do exactly what you did. he is a troll and he gets people every now and again to have an outburst towards his absurdity, the sooner you realize he will never see it any way other than his way the better. hopefully you only got a few days.

Generally those that get humiliated in discussions will tend to think that way. I feel bad for you, my intention isn't to humiliate you but to educate you and educate myself but when you come back at me you better know your stuff. Unfortunately for some of you guys you don't.

The way to get banned is to act like a child and curse at people, if you engage in healthy debate you will never be banned. Sometimes it gets heated but as adults we realize this is all in fun but for some folks who have no clue what they are talking about then feel embarrassed when they get exposed they lash out in ways not tolerated on most boards.

If this was a tavern and not a message board someone would've punched you in the face by now...just saying

It's not healthy debate to claim you are smarter than everyone else over and over. I haven't seen great substance from you anyway in a long, long time.

    No. He wouldnt.

You haters are far more obnoxious, than the pro Sanchez camp.

Any one of you would have been line for exactly the treatment you describe.

    Just sayin.

I don't worry about folks like that, I can handle myself if some nitwit took a sports argument to the point where they feel they needed to take a swing. That doesn't concern me.

I don't claim anything, the proof is in the posts. YOU guys attack me, I attack the weak arguments, you guys feel embarrassed then lash out at me. That's is your issue not mine.

Sometimes I think junc wakes up in the morning stretches his fingers and hops along to his computer with a grin on his face ready to troll the day away.

"What say you?...no, no, no. I disagree. I am right, you are wrong. I am better at debating then you...You are all average fans compared to me, you lack skill with your arguements. I humiliate you. Silence!"

    ...

Anyways, Sanchez is playing like his old self it seems in practice. Some of the passes being intercepted are those really badly timed floaters. Is it true, 2 INT's in 10 passes yesterday?
