wait really? Alright from what little high school ball I've played I've never done that (other conditioning yes, but not these), but if the drill is really mean to outright make a player tired- god this is stupider than I imagined! meanwhile the Jamarcus Russel references are starting... ugh....
That sums it up, they're worried about not having as many headlines. It's amazing how little good news about Geno has been broadcasted, always the little negatives that get the articles.
We used to do similar drills on the wrestling team. Obviously you don't do them every day. I think we used to do them after practice once a week or so. It helps with stamina and increasing your overall endurance. You know, the type of thing that might help Harris run an INT all the way back
Baldinger on Geno Says he's throwing the ball well, but isn't in great shape. 4 days gone, I'm not too worried. http://http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-training-camps/0ap2000000222875/Baldinger-Smith-has-better-arm-but-is-in-worse-shape
Let's face it, sports journalism is one of the least important jobs on earth. Me, I like the company man. Never a discouraging word. If I want those, I've got this board.
Kinda wonder how Manning, Rogers, and Brady do running wind sprints at the end of practice! I bet Rex could beat all of them.
Right now Geno is around the same as Sanchez but has a better throw and deep ball accuracy. I mean this is all setting up fairly well...That INT machine wont be the starting QB on week 1
I was reading some training camp impressions on another site and this is what I gleaned. At the end of practice the QB coach has the QB's run gassers to wind them. Immediately after the gasser they practice rolling out and passing into a garbage can about 20 yards away. At one point the QB coach says something to the effect of, "C'mon Geno I though you were in better shape than that." Balllicker hears this, sees Geno winded and cranks out a shitty tweet or whatever and the media pounces on it and spins it as Smith being lazy and out of shape.
Eeesshhh...a tweet would have been mild. No the idiot said it live on the NFL Network. He's a tool... It's pretty common the kids from college come in and are not in "NFL Shape". It's simply a different level and something they all have to learn. Balldinger could have said that about any of a NUMBER of rookies in ANY camp. No, he singled out Geno because of the situation and it's the Jets. Plain and simple...
The media gets more embarassing everyday. We deserved the negative scrutiny after Rex's statements and guarantees.. BUT are people nationwide really interested in the Jets?
Writers look for something sensational to "report," and if there isn't much material, they feel compelled to be intellectually dishonest and invent it. So Baldy chooses to make his big news event of the day... OMG! Geno is out of shape! He minimizes the real news, which Evans emphasizes, "You see a lot of accuracy, a lot of zip on the ball obviously from Geno," Evans observed. "You see some balls sailing, or what I would say floating, for Mark Sanchez."
