@MMehtaNYDN I haven’t seen anything through the first four days of practice that would lead me to think that Geno Smith is out of shape FWIW. I used to like Baldinger, but wtf? Why call out a guy like that based on watching a sprint at the end of pratice?
Here's my take on the out if shape thing: If it was so obvious why hasn't any other reporter corroborated the story? They love to pile on with anything negative but nothing so far. In fact pretty sure Manish said he doesn't think he's out of shape at all. This is based entirely in gassers and compared to the other QBs, well, maybe the fact that he's gassed and the others aren't is because he's giving his all in practice and they aren't. Also they were working on designed runs for him and he is a pretty mobile guy in general so odds are he was doing a lot more running during practice than the rest of the QBs combined. That should be a huge factor as well. Look, I'm not a huge Geno fan (although admittedly liking more and more) but this 'story' is such BS that Baldy should be embarrassed and apologize for this irresponsible report.
You mean like butt fumble,Or int by a dl in OTAs? The only one denoucing the media, regardless pf the story...is me.
In spite of your valid point about selling papers and insistence Sanchez has already won he still might well be. Especially if he's got some naturally better chemistry with the Stephen Hill. Still lets not get ahead of ourselves. Sanchez has the next two practices and the green and white scrimmage is coming up soon too. we'll get a fuller picture with time, I'm sure mark will do just fine.
It's at a bad angle, but he is overweight. He said himself he ate too much fast food. Geno got a story on nfl.com.
The guy that originally reported it used to play in the NFL. He has definitely run them. He is also a self-professed Jets fan. I'm not worried about this so much, but I do think he had somewhat of a point. Geno Smith is supposed to have wheels. Those wheels aren't all that important if a long TD scramble turns him into an asthmatic. But this means nothing if it doesn't turn into a repeat event.
Well, he's no Randy Lange but at least he's no Steve Serby either. I also let my subscription to Jets Confidential lapse 12 years ago after having been subscribed to it from day 1 (in those glory days of 1993). So I do have my limits.
He's not even a Manish Mehta. The good parts, at least. He's the guy at a technology conference trying to sell you a knock-off product out of the back of his truck. I came very close to knocking him out once because I just cannot stand weasels. The fact that you measured him next to a worse weasel and a Jets company man is kind of telling about the weak caliber of our writers, though.
This is troubling to say the least. Geno has got to get in shape. Those long scoring drives can take a lot out of you. Three and outs......not so much.
This is some of the most excitement I have ever felt for pre-season games, because I get to see Geno.
Uh, I don't think so...I've been on the anti-media train for a long time bruh...:metal: All it does is prove the point that the media just wants subs... ...just like Geno! (I had too) lol
Smith could not have looked out of shape when he ran for a 40 yard TD in practice the other day. This is another non-story. Smith seems to be able to run pretty fast when there is a reason to run other than end of practice sprints. The Jets beat writers have been reporting how good he looks. The national media just can't talk about the Jets in a positive light and the things they bring up are so petty and meaningless and baseless this year. I just hope this negative press continues to motivate Smith. He seems pretty motivated already.
I've been rooting for us to get Geno since he was still slinging it at WV. So I might as well ditch the Dolphin loyal Penny avatar, and get a nice new one. And just so I don't add nothing to this thread, I'm VERY happy to hear about him stompin on Mark during TC, especially in the RZ. That is crucial..
Man, how weird is it to see the media piling on Geno instead of Sanchez? I guess those guys are just looking for a clown show and figure Sanchez gives them the best chance at repeat of a game like the Titans MNF, or Thanksgiving prime time. Those games pretty much defined the year for Sanchez and gave 90% of NFL fans and analysts their picture of the Jets. Whoever wrote the article obviously knows nothing about gassers. You're supposed to push yourself to the limit. That's how you increase your stamina. Geno's working hard, both physically and mentally, yet people criticize him for THAT? I think the signs are there. Geno's taking the job and the media absolutely despises that! They are so worried the Jets might become a legitimate team instead of the butt of everyone's jokes.
