1. Was there a training camp where Sanchez didn't throw a pick? That alone should be a very good barometer, don't you think? 2. And Sanchez did throw a pick today as well. Geno didn't. 3. If you just don't get what this means: the QB must know how important the ball security is. Sanchez just does not get it, even in his 5th season. Throwing it up for grabs is so college-bowl mentality.
I don't get this one. Do you know of quarterbacks that haven't thrown an interception in TC? I'm pretty sure it's common when teams are installing their offense.
Not much in fact - just, Smith is not the INT machine that El taco loco is. That's all there is to it. [But it is very relieving to know Smith is not just throwing the ball up for grabs like Sanchez does all the time.] And to this date, Smith has 0 INT, compared to a few by Sanchez [and 1 today.] P.S. It is inevitable that Smith will throw a pick sooner or later. Just, he won't be throwing the pick like Sanchez does every now and then.
they have practiced for 3-4 days, he hasn't been through a TC yet. I don't know how you can make an evaluation w/o seeing what has been happening? I'm excited about Geno, it sounds like he is off to a nice start but let's not crown him just yet.
I see what happens when you desperately want your QB to be good. ...pass game to the rescue...hurray! Difficult throws, all of them, eh? Sanchez magic. I really don't think that you are as objective as you claim; in fact, I think that you are fooling yourself as to Sanchez's real capabilities. Classic case of giving too much credit to the QB when the team wins...but too many excuses when the team loses. In other words, you are a homer, and not the average homer either. Sanchez's CEILING is that of an average system QB that relies too heavily on the run or whatever elements of the TEAM.

same feeling. no QB goes without INT's in TC, while I'm surprised that Smith hasn't gotten one, he will and won't mean much just like Sanchez's doesn't mean much. Sanchez's turn with the ones comes these next coupe of days. Lets see what has going for him in the face of a decent performance from his backup.

Holding the ball to long can be just as bad as a pick. Let's see how this plays out. We all know he has natural talent lets hope he lets the fly. We don't need a Rob Johnson.
Yes, we saw that with Sackelroy last year. I doubt Geno will be THAT bad with holding it for too long though.
How about he shows up in Shape? Pullimng a McKnight, isnt exactly encouraging. However, they did say good things about his play.

the real issue with geno is if he can read a defense or not. we're not going to be able to tell that during camp. but i guess it's promising that he's doing well.
If there's any truth to Geno's conditioning being poor... it is a little disappointing. I think as practices go along, it will get better. If he starts, and the Jets install a few option plays, he will only be asked to run no more than 5 times a game. Maybe next offseason he should spend some time working out with Cro if its really that "embarrassing". Its funny how no other beat writer has said anything relating to this. Or even a coach- Rex has started to call out players in order to push them.
If he can't - just for the sake of argument - then Jets have a QB that can't read AND can't throw deep ball, vs a QB that can't read but at least throws good deep ball. At least the latter doesn't have INT problem that the former has. That much is a plus. Makes a good backup material. Jets are taking a QB in the 1st round next year in that case.
