You are. You had to go back beyond Welkers acquisition. And

That is not the way their offense is constructed.

Its how offense was constructed....plis, in prder to get thise totals, you jad to include troy brown, who was generally used in the same manner as welker.

I made a point of making the distinction between the slot player, and the outside guys.

Thats like saying because welker was a WR, his totals should count as being a WR centric system.

he took an undefeated team from 2007 against a MUCH easier sched in 2008 and won 10 games as a starter and they missed the playoffs. W/ Brady they probably win the SB that year but w/o him they didn't even make the playoffs.

Do you really want me to embarrass you further by posting the WRs he has played with who posted above 13 ypc that I would be so "hard-pressed to find?

Or should I let you off the hook this time?

    Your choice.

I'll give hobbes one thing, Geno on the Pats would suck balls for us because it would mean they have another guy ready to kick our ass immediately...

...after Brady retires, because unless Rodgers winds up a patriot nobody will usurp him in his career. certainly not a rookie, good as he his.

The schedule is a legit point. . Pats and Phins both won 11, jets won 9.....so the out of division schedule wasnt much.

He did also put up a couple of 400 yard games.

Oh yes keep adding on parameters to your shit argument after the fact.

You said the word "never". Now we are only talking about since Welker has been there?

And you should break out your calculator because even if we aren't including the great Troy Brown, many of those seasons his outside WRs caught more than 100.

    Just stop.

Tmac...i never sad he would be as good. Cassel wasnt as good either, but...had Bradys career been ended by that injury, they probably would have still remained playing at a high level offensively.

If you look back a page or two, I said...if we were hiring the Pats OC, id be in the Geno camp.

You're correct Excluding the slot players, you still have a couple years where there are 100 catches by WR.

(and a couple where said WR, did go for more than 13 YPC..so I was incorrect about that too....

But Brown is the slot guy from 2000 on.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrowTr00.htm

Brown goes to roughly 10-11 ypc and remains there, until he is replaced by Welker.

But even then, they did not get to the point they are now.

Matt Cassel didnt give HOF results. But they did remain at a high level offensively, including a couple of 400 yard games.

Bill walsh, turned Steve Walsh into a champion, and HOFer.

Its not easy. Some systems fit certain players. And I think Geno os a pretty talented player, the point more or less was it fits what he already excels at.

Hobbes, if you want some more evidence of how wrong you are, watch this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKPS7tbC-8g

Troy Brown doing things many things Welker can't do. Granted, the guy was a jack of all trades, so of course he played the slot some. But he played a ton outside too.

Dont. You gave a 135 page link to read. Ill get back to you.

My observation more or less was based on the way Weis conceptually orchestrated our offense.

But...let me read the book first.

Edit....the first thing that jumps out at you is the predominance of 3 wr sets.

So, just for future reference, tell me. Why were you wrong?

Were you just making it up because you wanted to be right?

    And corner.

P.S...did you actually watch the video. The majority of hos plays outsode the numbers ar in the forst two minutes. With Bledsoe throwing the ball.

After about 2:22 most (not all) of his catches are insode the numbers, which fits pretty meatly into his career stat line.

Pats vs. playoff bound teams in 2007:

    6-0 record
    avg score:
    NE: 39 Opp: 19
avg. pts scored by offense: 36.7 PPG

    Brady: 170-235, 1983 yds, 20 TDs, 3 INTs, 120.6 rating

Pats vs. playoff bound teams 2008:

2-4 record(beat Miami and Arixona who was crushed 3 times coming to NE)
    avg. score:
    NE: 23.8 Opp: 25.7
avg. pts scord by offense: 23.8
(a little skewed by the Ari game who stunk coming east that year and even w/ that there is a HUGE difference)

    Cassel: 135-221, 1467 yds, 7 TDs 6 INTs, 79.9 rating

He did that with the Jets as well and it never resembled the heavy-motion spread hybrid that they run now.

So I take it you are also ready to concede that Brady has played in offenses that relied upon the WR to move the ball downfield? Thus negating your entire rant in this thread?

I think he is asking how you came up with the stat that you now admit was incorrect.
