That Arizona game was probably the ugliest NFL game I've ever seen. And yes, chances are Mark doesn't take the team down field and actually score.
That game was indeed horrid. I was extremely excited to attend that game as the Cardinals have long been my secondary and/or NFC rooting interest. It ended up being unwatchable. Some of the worst QB play ever witnessed.
I also don't give him credit for the Miami game since their kicker couldn't do his only job Also the Colts game was won by the defense and run game if I'm not mistaken
LOL give him credit for the wins he started and finished. So, that's 5 (arizona shouldn't really count).
I'm just saying there's a difference between winning games and not losing them Sanchez threw for 82 yards in the Colts game
He managed the game, which was his job. He isn't getting full credit obviously, but it's still counts as 1 of his 5 wins.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/22/geno-smith-deal-ties-big-money-to-workout-bonuses/ Reading this garbage is so annoying. They have nothing but speculation about anything the Jets are doing and worse, it's negative speculation. Isnt the whole "Lets attack the Jets and make them look like a joke" schtick over yet? It's so old.
It's interesting isn't it? Especially when you look at Geno's last year in college. It was much better than Sanchez. Sanchez was drafted too high and Geno was an absolute steal in round 2. He was the best QB in the draft, better than Sanchez, most mocks had him in the top 15. Somehow we got lucky with him dropping to us in round 2, where it would have been stupid not to take him. Don't get me wrong, he might not end up being better than Sanchez, but at this point in his career he has had way more college experience, so I'd be much more comfortable with him taking the reigns.
Honestly I only want Sanchez starting if he impresses the pants off me this offseason. Otherwise, we know what we have in Sanchez. He's clearly peaked at a mediocre at best QB. It's time to move on.
It is the other way around Geno only starts if he impresses we know we can with Mark. Until we are out of playoff contention or Mark just plays so bad there is no choice Mark starts. There is always a chance that Geno is better than advertised and is the starter from day 1.
Geno doesn't have to be very good to be better than Sanchez. He only has to be serviceable, which basically means he has to be able to drop back from center and run an offense. It's a matter of time.
3 things I want to see from Geno Smith during TC 1. Command of the offense. Knowledge of the playbook. He doesn't have to know EVERYTHING but just enough to make him effective. Feel comfortable in the offense. Patience. 2. Ball security. He has small hands and had fumbling issues in college. I hope he improved this. 3. Footwork. I want to see that improved. It will go a long way in his development. He does those 3 things he will give Sanchez a run for his money.
The OL play was nothing to write home about either. Damn, of Id have known you were there, id have bought you a beer.
Which is funny, because Samchez has huge hands and takes it for granted, which causes many of his fumbles.... I'm hoping to catch some at FP, i'd like to see Geno throw it up close. His stroke looks quick on film.l(noticeably faster than Marks)
In this league you cannot take anything for granted. He thinks he's Brett Favre out there and even so Brett didn't fumble nearly as much. Mark has a lot to work on and he needs to mature quickly if he wants a future in this league. I give Geno credit for one thing so far, he does have a fast release, I've seen it in college - but I've also seen it be erratic at times on certain route patterns.
