Wow, Leyland must think every other pitcher left on the staff really stinks that they couldn't hold a 3-0 lead for one inning so he couldn't risk holding out Rivera for the 9th. And how about the amazing concept of bringing in a relief pitcher in the middle of an inning if the other team is staging a rally?

Oh well - none of it really matters anyway.

I bet it was planned way in advance. He wanted Rivera to get in the game no matter what. If the NL was leading, Rivera wouldn't be able to pitching the 9th. Obviously, this could have easily been changed.

Good win today. Hopefully we can get on a nice little streak with Harvey going tomorrow vs the Phils.

Lagares with a 3 run homer. The umps ruled it a double, but upon review saw it cleared the outfield wall.

    5-0

Harvey third in ERA, second in WHIP, first in Ks, first in K/9, first in DIPS (defense-independent ERA).

tied for 19th in wins though, lol.

It's pretty sad. The guy could easily have 14 or 15 wins if he had a decent lineup behind him. Reminds me of the year Felix Hernandez was dominating the AL and had like 13 wins for the entire season.

He's Johan reincarnated..... there was a stretch where Santana was basically the best pitcher in baseball for like 3 years and didn't win a Cy Young because neither the Twins or Mets could win game for him.

Reminds me of a stretch that Randy Johnson had many years when he got beat by a guy who threw a no hitter, next time out a 1 hitter and then a 2 hitter. Think it was in his Mariner days. I'll have to look for it when I get time.

    Edit: Found it

06/25/99 Jose Jimenez no hits DBacks
    Johsnon stats: 1 ER, 5 Hits 14 K's CG lose 1-0

06/30/99 Ron Villone 1 hits DBacks
    Johnson stats: 8 IP 2 ER, 7 hits 17 K's lose 2-0

07/05/99 Jose Jimenez 2 hits DBacks
    Johnson Stats 8 IP 4 hits 1 ER 12K's Dbacks lose 1-0

07/10/99 Tim Hudson 3 hits Dbacks
    Johnson Stats 7 IP 3 hits 1 ER 11 K's

Over that 4 game stretch he gave up 1.6 hits struck out an average of 11 batters a game , gave up 5 earned runs and went 0-4.

Those are some freaking crazy stats! Oh my god.

And last night was a horrible loss. Could have had a 3 game win streak to start the 2H. Woulda been 6 out of WC and 9 behind ATL with a bunch of games left vs ATL.

What I find funny is that some nobody named Jose Jimenez outpitched Randy Johnson in consecutive starts. Probably won't find too many guys that can say that.

A no hitter and a 2-hitter within 10 days of eachother. Pretty nuts. I also remember Jimenez from Colorado.

Good win for the Mets last night. Hopefully Hefner can keep the streak going and we will be 4-2 after the break.

David hit himself in the head with his own bat while swinging. I've never seen anything like that.
