the game played to commemorate the hall of fame inductions, its the first game played in the preseason, you don't know about it? legitimate query not trying to be a dick about it.
for the fans of the teams involved, it gives them a good look at what to expect like any other preseason game. for all fans, its fucking NFL football back for the first time since February. It ain't much, its not that entertaining but the drought makes people mad enough to watch the meaningless affair. Its just nice to see americas game back on basically.
I don't think you understand what it is, exactly. People are making I more confusing than it is. It's just the first preseason game of the season, but it's played right outside of the HOF in Canton on some big High School field. It's a legitimate NFL preseason game with two NFL teams, it's just played a few days or so earlier than every other team plays their first preseason game. It's really boring because it gets so hyped up by fans and ESPN (I get excited for it every year because it means football is back!) and it's really early so both teams play very vanilla and the starters barely touch the field. This year it's the Dolphins and the Cowboys. The Jets played in the HOF game in 1992 against the Eagles (jets won 41-14)
Ah, I see. Makes sense... I thought it was a bunch of old hall of famers tossing the piogskin around, lol
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2013/7/20/4540466/will-the-qb-battle-be-over-before-it-starts This is effing great. Contract holdup over 6 % in guaranteed money, on a 5 million dollar deal. I realize, that his agents are probably telling him that Teo is a flawed example, even though he went at 38.....but really...if he thinks he can beat Sanchez, that 6% is meaningless, because they'll have to renegotiate his contract long before that extra 300k is paid out, and hes going to pocket approx 3million immediately.
I think the point is that Geno Smith would have to be pretty bad not to be better than Mark Sanchez at this point. It's very possible for a team to have only QB's at the Sanchez level and below on it. The Jets and Cardinals of last year both managed the trick. However it is unlikely that this is the case and so most of us are watching Smith and figuring the odds are that we have a better option than Sanchez available. We're hoping that not only is this true but that Rex doesn't have giant blinders on also.
Pretty much. It's more than likely just a matter of when Geno is ready, which is obviously a huge variable. 360k is life changing money for most Americans. If he has a career ending injury his first day of camp (or any time during his first contact) would be nice to have that lump sum to fall back on. I'm guessing it takes insurance salesmen close to a decade to bring in that kind of money. There's also a ton of money that can be saved by avoiding interest payments on a home purchase. Obviously if he blows it on Ferrari's and bling it's a moot point. Obviously it's the second contract everyone is hoping for.
if 300k is such little matter how about you take it out of your savings account and give it to him. if we are sitting here the end of next week squabbling over 300k then it will be an issue. today its not an issue at all. he should absolutely try to get 300k. he may never get to a second contract and i would never expect someone to leave 300k sitting on the table.
For most Americans, it is. But once you are pocketing over 4 mil, and bought a new Ferrari, that argument goes by the wayside.... The simple fact is, he's the guy that hired an agent that never negotiated an NFL contract, and should be able to figure out, that a new GM, is very unlikely to cave on paying hm better than the guy drafted in front of him. And, of he doesnt get the deal done, hes got zero shot to supplant Sanchez. So....lets just assume for a moment that Bway, is wrong, and I am right..sanchez flourishes under Marty. That second contract, might be as good as the first. Maybe. Thats my point, letting his agents diminish his chances to get ahead of the incumbent starter is bizarre..l
this won't take too long, and it shouldn't put a damper on the competition at all. Tannehill had some sort of issue with his rookie deal too and he wound up winning his competition, so its not like he's out of the running because of a minor setback. I don't even think it'll go as far as it does there. he'll be signed by weeks end at the latest.
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/7/20/4542062/geno-smith-jets-unlikely-starting-week-1 hrm... I simply won't buy the sanchez "winning" argument when he isn't, he's just the guy thats been here the longest that people presume will get the start in a draw (which it basically is till next week or so), but wouldn't hold this as an impossible occurrence either. I won't click on the link, I've sworn off feeding the beast with my hits so not sure what the actual story by Manish says.
We will see how quick Geno can pick up the off,,after all. He and Sanchez are both learning a new off and even if Sanchez should win his leash will be very short after last years performance and the upheaval Rex had with the entire coaching staff,,tattoo or not Rex and sanchez must perform well or I could see both of them gone next year,,time will tell we are days away from camp !
