Moron, its the same thing. And, if you played little league baseball where catchers dont have cannons, bunting is e first skill you acquire as a hitter when you are eight.

And Sanchez has huge, and very good hands, (go back and watch him pick throws from schitty out of the air one handed, reverse grip, in hard knocks) which os why he has never been bitched at for not keeping two hands on the ball dropping back.

And fwiw, jackoff, its not just bunting...in every major sport, you hear announcers bitch about athletes not posessing basic fundamental skills.

Not catching with your thumbs together is another. Parcells had to drill that into Johnson when the Jets drafted him. Its shitty coaching, that doest eliminate the basic physical mistakes. Judgement, meh...sometimes you cant fix that. Marty seems to have already addrsssed the two hand problem, which is not an indictment on Sanchez, but Schitty and Cavanaugh.

When I work with my 14 y.o. If his head is on me and his thumbs arent together,he runs laps.
If he olays a baseball on the ground, he runs laps.

Talented players usually advance beyond that level on talent alone.

Like Ryan Leaf. Some flaws do not show until talent is equalized, to pretend otherwise, is stupid.

P.S. Ill wager you right now.If f sanchez is a worse QB than Tannehill, Ill ask Murrell to change my name to Sanchezsux.till the next season, if you change to MarktheGr8 if hes not. You posttalk and talk shit...put up.

And my icon was only supposed to last till inauguration, but hey I lost so ..what the hey.

Look, if you are going to troll, at least do it reasonably.

I have elained why. Many times.

Sanchez has been the oroduct of a system that Favre rejected, Made Pennington look bad, and ..if you need more..lgo watch the St.Louis game.

scotty was playing against a defense he practiced against for years.

And in that game, (career year, for the sanchez sux, not schotty crowd) , Bradford looked like Sanchez. He thre a pick to a LB, would have thrown a pick 6 to lankster if he could catch, and sanchez...went 15/20, and didnt need to throw a pass for the last 9 minutes of the game.

Because Sparano called plays, close to what you can expect this year.

P.S. anyone one that wants to go look, at the middle of the 3rd qtr they run the buttfumble play, except to the right side b gap, not theleft.

Where did I say he would get fired.

I may have said, he would get fired if he (insert something stupid here).
You made the claim. Back it up.

    Right now. Today.

There is no competition. sanchez is the starter.

Because JayZ,rocNation, and GenoferLopez are quibbling over a 300k guarantee on. A 5 mil contract which geno will pocket abot 70% of the minute he signs,

Right now, Everyday that goes by, prompts Idzik, to not want to deal with another Mevi$ situation, with a fledgling agency.

And if Geno aint signed...he aint in camp. And if the staff thinks Sanchez is serviceable, or...better looks good under Marty...Geno is a backup until after he re-signs.3-4 years.

It isn't the same thing. At all. Great hitters can still lack mastery of the bunt. Great QBs need to know how to hang onto the ball. Nice try tho.

And as I have said before, as much as you try to make it so, Tannehill has nothing to do with this. If you want to argue that, we can, and you will likely find no argument from me. But that shows how shallow your football analysis is.

Once again Hobbes, you are an idiot. Because Geno Smith's agents are trying to get more money guaranteed, he's already going to be a Revis situation? This is the kids first ever contract and this is the first word we've heard of the contract negotiation. How about you wait until the end of next week and wait until you declare such a proclamation. How about Richardson and Milliner? Are they divas too? are they going to turn into Mevis?

And as its been said before, 300k is not chump change for every single player that enters the NFL. It is in fact a big deal. What happens if he gets injured- gets a few unlucky concussions and is forced to retire early? But I guess its more about him being a diva than him thinking about the future and life beyond football, right?

Also, Im not even sure how you can think there isnt a competition. The organization has said so. Just because he's not signed, its not a competition yet? Is that really what you have to cling to at this point? I mean seriously, how far did Sanchez reach up your ass?

Not according to the head coach...but whatever.

There's a sick, vindictive part of my soul that wishes the Jets are forced to start Sanchez.

That's not an explanation. That's hope. It's not based on anything factual. Sanchez currently, the last we saw, is at his rookie year level or even worse because he at least finished his rookie year at ok and he finished this past year at bad.

There are very few things that point to Sanchez bouncing back, and there are many more things pointing that Sanchez isn't going to be the Jets starter after next year.

Now it's not wrong to believe Sanchez will become a good QB but it's misleading to act like it's expected, the odds are in that favor, or that there are more logical reasons leaning towards Sanchez becoming great than just being a middling a QB. Now I don't doubt Sanchez gets better, it won't take much from last year. But better isn't good enough.

Not looking at his past, these are the problems Sanchez faces to becoming a great QB:

Lack of established WRs. The established WR doesn't know if he can play week 1.
Lack of an established running backs or run game.
    Lack of an TE.

Now if everything breaks right, things might break for the Jets to be a winning team, but that doesn't mean Sanchez becomes great necessarily. That's how uphill it is for Sanchez, and he most likely has one year to do it. There are no guarantees or even odds are in his favor, yet you paint it like it is expected. It isn't though, it is nowhere near expected. As I said before it would be great, but wasn't the magically Schotty leaving (and I don't like him as OC) supposed to take Sanchez to new heights and then looked what happened.

And I don't like Bradford as a QB, but last year was his best year (granted he has only had 2 injury free years). In that year, Sam threw more passes than Sanchez ever did (by 8), threw for a higher comp % than Sanchez has ever done, thrown for more yards than Sanchez has ever done, thrown for the least amount of INTs Sanchez has ever thrown (13), thrown for 5 less TDs than Sanchez has ever thrown, lower INT % than Sanchez, tied Sanchez's highest Y/A, higher QBR and rating than Sanchez ever had. All in a division that is tougher than Sanchez has ever been in.

So in total, the only reasoning that Sanchez is going to improve greatly as a QB is hope. There was nothing to build off of from last year. It's all hope and prayer. If he does it, great for this team, but like I said it would be unexpected

He will if he plays. I would consider it unexpected if we had top 10 QB play or a top 10 offense. There is really nothing to point to say it can happen. That doesn't we shouldn't root for it, I'm rooting for it to happen. But I don't get these certainties that now under MM Sanchez will flourish or he will become great or there won't be a competition.

I agree with everything else you said, but Im not sure Sanchez ever had the talent to be a great QB (which would be a top 5-8 QB). It appears he has never had the football intelligence, and his arm strength and physical talent were never elite. If everything fell into place, I would say he could be a good QB- maybe something that resembles a little better Matt Schaub or at the very best- Tony Romo. The Romo comparison is very generous at this point.

    What certainties?

It's one guy saying it over and over.

But it does make sense. I mean, Sparano was a hot mess as OC.
It won't take much to better that nonsense. Now if MM can make a silk purse out of the *ahem* "talent" on the Jets, then that'd be a small miracle.

On the plus side, Morningwheg was a quarterback, so he should have a decent take on what he's up against with the cards he's been dealt. I think we're going 8-8...mostly due to a stout showing on defense and a weak back half of schedule.

It's gonna be an uphill battle to win games against decent teams.
But who knows...anything can happen. It did in '09/'10.

I bet we at least "cover":metal:

I agree that Geno will face many of the same circumstances that Sanchez did, but with our cap room extremely expanded and some extra draft picks, I think Idzik will have enough resources to surround him (or whoever is at QB) with some quality talent. I believe Ivory can be our version of Marshawn Lynch if he can stay healthy which will take a large amount of pressure off of the QB. With a quality receiver through the draft (Lee or Watkins if we finish poorly) or through FA, same with TE, we could easily overhaul this offense.

Personally, I think Stephen Hill holds the cards for the offense of the team. If he can develop into a quality receiver, it will help this team almost more than any other player. This team is in dire need of a #1 WR... even a good #2, and thats what he was drafted for. If Hill struggles similarly to last year, our offense is going to have a rough year.

Yeah I can see that. I used great, but I was thinking more 8-12 range so maybe great wasn't the best word. At least I didn't use "elite" :).

I think if everything fell into place, I think Romo is a great comparison and maybe Cutler. Those types of gun slingers and that mentality. I mean I don't remember him much in college, maybe he wasn't a gunslinger there, but he kind of turned into one in the NFL. He hasn't fit the healthy Rivers, Brady, Rodgers mold (and other lesser QBs) of being extremely accurate, so I would lean towards a Romo as a good idea. I actually like Romo (I know many don't) so if Sanchez can still turn into that, I'm fine there.

Yeah I was initially responding to the one guy so that's why the certainties theme carried over when I responded to your post. Sorry for grouping you in

8-8 would be nice. It really just depends on circumstance. I could see a good 8-8 or a bad 8-8 like 2011.

I think the first key is health which ties directly into Hill. I'm afraid that Sanchez will slip into his bad habits if Holmes/Hill/Kerley can't stay healthy all year wrong, and we saw how bad those bad habits can get last year. His decision making just doesn't stay straight and solid.

I think future wise, yeah we can put some great weapoins around the QB, whoever that is. This year, I'm optimistic because I think we will be better offensively than last year, but I also realize our talent offensively is not there. (That does not excuse a QB for letting his decison making go to trash)

I think that at the beginning of his career, he couldve turned into a QB like Tony Romo. Now? With absolute best circumstances- great offensive minded coach, very good OL, RB, TE, and WR's, I would say Alex Smith is his ceiling. Basically a QB who can not pass the ball more than 25 times a game and can be a good game manager in a run heavy offense.

Personally, I just dont see Sanchez ever turning into a player that will be worth while at QB at this point. I understand that MM is probably the best OC he has had, but he's just damaged goods at this point- like you said, possibly worse than when he was a rookie. Its certainly not a good sign for Sanchez that he has yet to separate himself from a rookie, while he's in his 5th year.

Holmes really worries me at this point. Im not sure if the guy can even walk on his foot yet. Right now, I just cant see how we dont add another WR before the start of the season. Barring an unforeseen breakout from a WR not named Hill or Kerley, we are going to be in some trouble.

I do agree that the situation Sanchez was in last year doesnt excuse his poor decision making. He made matters worse, when as the "franchise QB" he wants to be, you have to prevent the downward spiral at least somewhat.

I hope Idzik recognizes our need, and tries to fill it whether it be through trade or picking someone up. I said this in the WR depth thread, I think Laurent Robinson would be a solid pick up- give him a shot, he's looking to come back from his concussions, and he's better than a lot of the players we have. Best case scenario, we have a solid #2 WR on a small contract. Worst case scenario, he's cut on a small contract.

no one is talking. rex hasn't said anything. mark has made comments about his confidence but nothing serious. everything is quiet. rex's comment on the state of the competition is nothing. what do you want him to do? answer every question with no comment.

the media has everyone brain washed to think any comment by rex is a big deal.
