I WANT this guy!!! Let's hope he stays healthy this year! What a HIT!!!
why wouldn't they be? this guy is the best defensive prospect in a LONG time. Unfortunately the only way to get him would be to go 1-15/2-14 and that's not happening.
The only way the Jets get Jadveon Clowney is if he drops to the backend of the top 10 or lower. Not going to happen and if it did the odds are pretty good the Jets should take somebody else given 5 straight defensive players in 1st round.
As much as I am a proponent of reloading this offense, and having a solid season... it would truly be something special to see Mo, Coples, Richardson, Ellis and this beast of a man on the same team... Im not sure it would even be fair haha.
If the Jets go 1-15 and select a defensive end, no matter if it is Clowney, everyone in the front office should be murdered with machetes. I know the guy is going to be an all-time great, but if you pass on a QB in that situation, you deserve to lose Clowney in 4 years when he realizes the organization is a joke. I'd like to think that Idzik has more sense than that.
As good as Clowney is I don't want him. Frankly I'm opposed to a QB too unless it's a true franchise guy like Bridgewater. Draft some fricking dynamic offensive skill...PLEASE. I just don't see how they can continue to ignore such a need.
Jets need to go offense heavy next draft. We just spent 2 first rounders on defense this year. If the Jets are that bad Bridgewater better be the selection, followed by WRs TEs you name it.
I can't say I like this mindset at all. If we are picking in the top 3, you simply walk up the card with the top guy on your board. If he plays offense or defense should not matter. The only way you think about trading put is if you are offered a kings ransom. Yes we need offensive skill players. Yes, we have ignored this way too long. That said, if we have a choice between the next DWare or Megatron, I would gO Megatron all day given our needs. If its between the DWare type and player like Crabtree who is a good player but not a true game changer, you take the pass rusher. We need to restock both talent and depth. You do not achieve that by reaching for a position. You do it by getting the best value on you board with each pick. If two guys are of equal ratings and intangibles then by all means take position into account, but it should not be the driving force behind a pick.
I don't want to jump to conclusions but are you comparing Bridgewater to a good player not a game changer? Bridgewater and Clowney are both game changers in my opinion...
As much as it pains me to say, - I do agree with this. And I am thinking more along the lines of Coples / Wilkerson / Richardson / Clowney in a 4-3 D. K. Ellis has been unable to put in a full season for various reasons & would be UFA after 2014 season anyway. Drafting Milliner & Richardson was 1 thing. Passing on Clowney (he of the aforementioned " I know the guy is going to be an all-time great") would join the list of all-time foolish ideas. This is all moot, really - as I do not believe we'll get close enough to sniff him as a possible draft pick.
If Sanchez plays this season, we will be a lot closer to that #1 pick than some may think. Not a pipe dream... I don't think Clowney is necessary... We have Wilkerson who is coming into his own now, and I think Coples is gonna surprise a lot of people this year with his progression from year 1 to year 2... We HAVE to go offense in next years draft.. Bridgewater or Marquise Lee and ill be happy... Bridgewater would be able to turn a 4-12 team into a playoff team like what Luck did with the Colts last year... That's the type of guy that makes the players around him better... Sign this beast!!!!
With Sanchez we capped at 6 wins last year. That was with an injury ridden offense. Also, Wilkerson and Clowney are two completely different DEs Again if the Jets have the #1 pick Bridgewater better be the guy. Dude is a celebral assassin on the field.
well if the jets are in the top 3 - could u imagine the trade offers that would flock to their pick.... especially of the QB's that are coming out perform as expected in college and u get the usual OL folks... geez if geno smith and/or sanchez surprise all and turn out to be a solution rather than a ?? (though a top 3 spot would then be hard to obtain if that occurs); the jets would be in a fabulous position to take an impact position player OR obtain multiple lower picks and really upgrade the roster in several positions. that could make for really high expectations in 2014-2015.
With Jets luck they will have the 3rd pick in a draft that has Clowney and Bridgewater going 1 & 2. Seriously though both Clowney & Bridgewater are pipe dreams. I don't see a very realistic scenario of Jets drafting in top 2 next year.
There is not an Andrew Luck in this draft, we hear about how QB heavy it will be but there aren't any slam dunks. If we have the #1 pick and don't pick Clowney I'd go nuts. This guy is going to be a game changer, an LT type that can turn a franchise around.
lets say we end up 7-9 ,the qb situation shows improvement, hill lives up to his potential but we started slow and the offense didn't start clicking till it was too late to make a playoff push.we would have roughly the 12th pick in the draft. theoretically we could give up all our natural picks to move up for clowney and still have the revis pick plus the 3 comp picks. thats the only scenario where i see we could end up with clowney and the nydn and posts would print the headline "circus gives up everything for new clown"
The Jets are already going to have 11 or 12 picks next year. It's not the year to trade down. They have 3 likely comp picks plus the pick from the Revis deal on top of their normal allotment. The obvious way to profit in a trade down would be taking a 2014 1st plus future picks but that would leave the Jets without their choice up top of what looks like a deep talented draft. I think if the Jets wind up with a top 3 pick they basically have to take a QB unless they saw enough out of Geno Smith this year to not be worrying about QB moving forward. If they have a top 3 pick Rex is toast and the new head coach should get his pick of the QB's to build with. Absent a really strong performance out of Smith he goes to 2nd on the depth chart and becomes a strategic asset for the Jets.
I will be shocked if we are in the top 3 of the draft. I don't expect to be good but I don't expect to be awful either.
