Not sure this belongs in the Jets forum just because he is a Jet but whatever. Here are my two cents from a born and raised catholic kid. I found it totally disingenuous indicting a person because he speaks proudly of his tradition. God forbid. It seems to imply that is only acceptable for backgrounds other than Palestinians I pressume. Did he say one word in his speech about endorsing violence? None noted. It seems some are trying very hard to link all Palestinian supporters to terrorists supporters, which is total BS. Did I miss the line in his speech where he endorsed hatred towards Jews. Is he purely guilty by third level of association. Attacking any individual because of background demonstrates the very hatred he is been accused of. The knife cuts both ways, and broad brushing every Palestinian as a terorist is no better than the the tacit support of terrorism itself. For one, I'm not ever going to recommend to cut of a player because he is proud of his background, in fact I would root for him to succeed at all costs. It's time to focus about football issues and let religious belief be discussed elsewhere. He is a Jet no better or worse than any other one, and as such he deserves the same chance as the rest.
no, i don't have to read it in the post to believe it. this is the second article to come out trying to portray him as a terrorist and they both came from the same source.if any of it was true it would be a national story. now me personally,i don't give a fuck about israel, the plo, hamas or any of it. they can blow themselves up tomorrow and it wouldn't change my world one bit. so if it becomes a national story and starts to effect the state of the jets i will be concerned but as of now it is just some d-bag trying to take down an innocent kid over a chunk of land that may very well be nothing more than a chunk of land
I refuse to respond to someone who openly supports terrorists and war criminals. In fact, I insist the mods ban you indefinitely for your affiliations.
WTF... where the hell did freedom of speech go!? Oh ok, so just because it the Jewish community it can't be criticized? PS Surname of the author... Kaufman... not the most impartial surname I could have imagined.
The government was going after who? Oday? Details are not your friend. Everything you have put in this thread has been generalizations based on extremely loose associations on conservative extremist websites. If I speak at the same rally as someone and he is later found out to be cheating taxes and beating his wife, does that mean I am associated with wife beaters and tax evaders? It's faulty argument with no legitimate logical points or valid connections at all. So since you are pro Israel, that means you have associations with people who bomb schools with innocent children in them... RIGHT? You murderer! You should be deported!
I would say that it's totally wrong to indict someone because he speaks proudly of his tradition. If that's what this article was, I would be 100% against it. The question is is it okay for someone to speak at an event put on by a group with terrorist associations? If he spoke at a KKK meeting, would any of you object? Would you still want him on the team? IMO, the forum he spoke at is worse than the KKK. That's not questioning his pride for his tradition or his background. You must see it's much different than that.
It's a good thing they have one of the biggest armed forces in the world, because if they didn't, Israel wouldn't exist, and you would be sitting in your big green Jets chair applauding it.
Fuck Islamic Extremists and their supporters. He has to decide if he wants a career as an NFL player or if he wants to be a Jihadist. You can't be both.
You asked how they would allow a known terrorist group to operate here on US soil, and I replied that the govt was going after the PFLP, specifically for being a terrorist group.
I guess you consider the US a terrorist organization, since we have killed innocent bystanders when we have gone to war. Me? I'm proud to be an American.
Speaking in what way? If there were a Jew speaking in front of a group with terrorist associations, people like me would be speaking against it. And unfortunately there have been a number of Jews who have spoken at Islamist events, so it does happen. It's not right if Aboushi or anyone else does it. But Aboushi did, and people here shouldn't be giving him a pass on it. Was he free to do so? Yeah. Should the Jets tolerate it? No. You don't tolerate this. You take a stand! The Jets management is gutless, IMO.
He's free to speak, just like you're free to criticize someone because they have a Jewish-sounding last name. And the Jets are free to dump him, if they so choose. And it would be the right choice, IMO.
Why is it so hard for people like you to comprehend that other people probably feel the exact same way about where they are from? Why is it OK for YOUR country to kill innocent bystanders but if anyone else does it they are evil?
Of course... I'm just saying it's not very surprising that someone with a Jewish surname writes a very pro-Israeli and anti-Palestinian article! (and keep in mind my personal opinion is that both Sharon/Nethanyau and Hamas supporters are a bunch of idiots... I'm not exactly pro Hamas or anything like that. That said Palestinians throw rocks and shitty missiles while Israel segregates a whole population and attacks with tanks and an army so... out of the two Israel is by far the biggest asshole in this story. Not becasue they're jews... just because they're assholes).
Bullshit. You,like may others have an Israel is hollier than thou thought process. You also have a warped view of what terrorist associations are. Our invasion of Iraq was no less. What Israel does when they strike is no less. What the Jews did to the Palestinians in the late 40s is no less. The list could go on,but in this country a flag only goes up when one speaks against Israel or the Jews. This is America, and he has a right too. A lot has been done wrong to the Palestinians. Regardless, none of it has a damn thing to do with the Jets.
Amazing that some of you can make it out of your house in the morning. Did you notice a few things about the article, like for an article that is titled "NY Jet Player Speaks at Extreme Anti-Israel Conference" they did not have one fucking quote from him. Or where they said he praised Islamic Relief a charity that some label a front for Hamas, you know what he said, "Beautiful NJ Fundraiser event for the kids of Palestine in refuge camps" Fucking morons
I think that is part of the point for some though. It doesn't matter what or if he said anything at all. The title alone would have some think he should be ousted immediately ,as if no one is allowed to speak or show support against Isreal and still have a job.
Human life is human life, I don't care what section of the world you come from or what religion you follow. All people are equal. There's a big difference between collateral damage and when the vast majority of your casualties are innocent. This is the case with Israel and most extremist terrorist groups. It's the most cowardly way possible to fight an enemy because they can't find back and aren't even involved. I'm not saying Palestine is innocent, both groups are clearly at fault here, but Israel over reacting to every single thing is part of the problem, along with the fact that they knowingly kill innocent people in the off chance that they'll kill a terrorist or 2. Does firing a home made rocket rocket blindly into a city where it may injury or kill a person if you are lucky, warrant vaporizing hundreds of people that had nothing to do with it? Those are the stories you DON'T see on the evening news or on that insane fear mongering website. The truth of the matter is the entire situation is fucked. I just feel if a country or group is attempting to claim moral superiority, they shouldn't stoop to the level of the people they are fighting. This is why I lack any modicum of respect of any of them. And, yeah I still maintain that speaking at a pro Palestinian rally does not make you a terrorist.
