Unfortunately we live in a world where people, some of which post on this very board can't or CHOOSE not to differentiate the 2.

Many people believe if one is Muslim or Islam they are a terrorist and
also feel that anything spoken against Israel is unacceptable. Sorry, but the Truth is the Truth, anything else is personal conjecture,
and this applies to all sides of religion.

ftr, I didn't read the article and am not speaking in anyway of it.

After rereading the article I mostly agree. There is no clear evidence of any extremism on the part of Oday.

I disagree with your comment on the twitter image. Even though lots of people may have posted something similar, that doesn't make it okay. It certainly doesn't make it okay for a professional athlete.

I don't have a problem with people that are pro-Palestine. I respect their right to believe whatever they want. I just don't really want to support a team that is okay with an anti-semite being on the team (not that it's clear that he is one).

Your intimations were enough. I'll go on record as saying that you never called me one.

But I think you have an agenda, and the fact that you called me out in this thread with no reason is enough to make me think that you are an overly sensitive dick.

I'll go ahead and state right now that RUJfan reached out to me via PM and squashed whatever I thought was a beef between us. Big move by a good guy.

    Thanks my friend.

Great, an anti-Semite playing on a New York team. That'll play out well.

I don't care what your personal opinions are. When you are paid to represent the team, keep it to yourself.

I want to ask a question to those who said they have to hear Mr. Aboushi's speech before passing judgement. This is a group that has had terrorist leaders speak at conferences. The group is associated with a Facebook site that has images of Hitler and Hamas leaders on it. The group's logo has an image of the Israeli map draped entirely in a Palestinian flag. Given this, does it really matter what he said at the conference? Would it have been better if it were a KKK conference and he spoke about knitting football jerseys? Does a ton of bricks have to fall on your head for you to realize that his speaking at this event is entirely unacceptable, period? If the Jets are willing to look past this, they are doing a disservice to their fans and this country -- the USA -- that continues to be targeted by people connected to this guys buddies. Remember 9/11? Remember Boston? Muslim or not, this guy has to go, and ASAP!

It's like when you register for an account on a message board and then blab about religion issues when the media orders you to.

No need for it. Create your own opinion.

Aboushi is a Palestinian. His family has been touched by war.

If his name was Saul Katz and he was complaining about Palestinian bombings and warfare would this be an issue?

Fuck off with this when it comes to the Jets.

The asshole that wrote this article is trying to turn your favorite team into a political game piece.

Here's the website for El Bireh which describes the convention and opportunities. Having trouble finding the terrorist links here.

    http://elbireh.org/

Going to look at the Facebook page now because you never know.

The El Bireh site basically describes a Community Convention with an angle towards business opportunities and a bunch of activities designed to keep the kids busy while the parent network.

and how come the mainstream media hasn't picked this up? its not like espn wouldn't love to get the hernandez case covered up with a "jets draft terrorist story"

this seems more like a smear campaign against a kid with Palestinian roots by an extremely pro Israel organization. i don't like it and hope aboushi becomes a pro bowler on this team just so he gets more mention and this frontpagemag can suck it

The way I read the convention it was just an opportunity for Palestinian Americans to connect and network. That could be not the case but then the convention would have had to be completely different than the format and events they describe on the web site.

I mean how controversial is having the first Palestinian American player drafted by the NFL speak at an event that is about creating positive opportunities for Palestinian Americans to connect and do business together?

Completely agree, and I'm Jewish if that matters at all (which it shouldn't). Can we please let this thread die and talk about football?

Maybe the Israelis should allow the Palestinians to build casinos and sell cheap cigs. It worked out pretty good over here.

Unless you are a complete idiot, which I don't believe you are by the way, Saul Katz complaining about Palestinians is a lot different than associating with terrorist organizations. I think you can understand that.

One of the few really effective ways to combat extremism is to create real opportunities to advance economically and in the social order.

When you have a bunch of very poor people clustered together with no way out you get really nasty dynamics out of that.

Maybe you should understand the truth about what you read instead of taking anything that gets you emotionally invested for absolute truth before you start labeling people idiots.

You can go ahead and investigate that supposed terrorist organization and come back with proof, for one.

Otherwise,.why don't you go ahead and fuck off with your reactionary garbage?
