Troy Aikman was a game manager that shined in big games. He was also, the #1 overall pick...

Again, you're weighing single games and even single plays heavier than the overall body of work. Giving you a chance to compete every year for a SB trumps anything when the playoffs are a single game elimination.

    Is Drew Brees a choker?

single elimination w/ many of the games at home and a bunch w/ a bye.

Brees has never lost a playoff game w/ a bye- Manning has done it FOUR times

Brees has lost ONE home playoff game, Manning has lost FIVE home playoff games

In playoff losses Brees has led his O's to 24.8 PPG
In playoff losses manning has led his O's to 14.8 PPG

And in context with the history of the sport, Manning is still a top 10 QB all time.

Elway and Kelly had more playoff success, but neither were better than Marino.

I don't think Peyton is top 10 all time.

Marino didn't have help, if he did he would have won SBs. Elway's reputation changed when TD carried him to 2 SBs but even before then w/o great talent he made 3 SBs.

You're entitled to your own personal opinions, but you may be one of 10 people alive who watches football that doesn't consider Manning top 10. At least in the modern era.

I probably am but I don't value meaningless individual #s as much as most. peyton is an all time great w/o a doubt but he's come up too small in too many big spots to be in my top 5-10.

This right here plain and simple....plus what good are road playoff wins if Mark sucks so bad during the year we dont even make the playoffs. If Mark wants to make the vet minimum than fine, that way we can put probowlers at every position but until then he needs to carry this team...

You just said Manning gives a team a chance to compete for the playoffs every season, yet his numbers are meaningless?

We're Brady's 2007 numbers meaningless bc he didn't play well in the Super Bowl?

this thread has become an unreadable cesspool of arrogant (and completely off base) opinion.

we didn't miss the playoffs either of the last 2 years specifically b/c of Mark Sanchez. He contributed in 2011, in 2012 he had no help. people realize only Rodgers, Flacco, Brees, Brady, Peyton and Ryan have more playoff apps since Mark entered the league, right?

Not completely but much of them are. he's played 93% of his career w/ his home stadium being a dome w/ top 3 weapons most of those years. That will help any QBs #s.

On some level it's a bit meaningless for Brady but at least he got them to the SB and gave his team a late lead which his D blew.

ok,sorry.i forgot i have to be very specific when stating anything in this thread.
if he played better the chances of winning would increase greatly. complete passes and don't turn the ball over and we would have more chances to win games. its pretty simple.

Manning had the benefit of going to a good organization and getting him good players. As did Brady. The dome thing is irrelevant to me. But lets not ignore Manning's pedigree before even getting to the NFL. He was the #1 pick and one of the most highly touted QB prospects for a reason.

who cares about his pedigree? he's an all time great obviously but there are different levels of all time greats, he's not at or near the top b/c of his big game failures.

The dome thing isn't irrelevant, he's played more than half his games prior to last year in perfect conditions. That is a HUGE advantage over Brady or most other QBs.

Im not going to split hairs regarding Brady over Manning(which I happen to agree with too)

Manning got drafted to a dome team. Oh well, he had no control over that. And you're overrating the effect of weather on good players anyways.

Who are these all time great QB's that Manning isnt near? Lets keep this in the modern era.

he might not have been the only reason we missed the playoffs but he was a reason. for what has been invested in him from draft pick to salary that is unacceptable

haha well played. so starved for Jets news that i haven't been able to resist the temptation. Then i click in and see arguments of how Sanchez is awesome, and Namath and Manning are just overrated.
I'm going to try to resist the madness!

We need training camp and real current players/topics to discuss asap!
    i can't wait...
