    1. Trade Sanchez away for a pick - hopefully 2nd. There will always be a sucker that will put up 2nd rounder for a QB that bounces back for a decent record. There always is.

    2. Draft a QB in 1st round, and get his weapons (probably 1 WR and 1 TE) in the 2nd round.

    3. Grab OLB and SS or FS on 3rd. (Revis pick)

    4. Draft an OL in the 4th and one more in the later picks.

    5. Watch Geno and the new 1st round pick QB battle it out.

That would be such a great situation. We would definitely be contending the next year. Plus we're supposed to have a ton of cap room and late compensation picks for depth.

Yes, but in two seasons under schotty, he threw as many picks as tds, see Bway, above.

Go back, and watch the St.Louis game. With a crap OC, and a half assed cast.

The 2013 offense, is going to be that, only better, Sparano almost called a wco game.

Sanchez went 15/20, and didnt need to put the ball in the air for the last nine minutes.

Probably not with a price tag of $9M. He'd need to have an outstanding 2013 to have any kind of trade market.

I think that Sanchez looked better in early 2011 than he looked in any other season... regular season.

junc is always correct about how Sanchez looked in the post-season of 2010/2011.

He played his ass off and the defense had problems. It is something that Jets fans need to come to grips with.

I don't know a single Jets fan that didn't think he was about to turn the corner after that playoff run.

There are people that have to come to terms with that, the same way junc needs to come to terms with the fact that Sanchez was nowhere near a top ten QB during that season.

Sometimes, a QB plays above his head when it matters.

Trent Dilfer, as much as his name is thrown around here, is one of them. So is Brad Johnson.

They are quarterbacks that had less than stellar careers, but made the right passes when it mattered in huge moments late in their careers.

My next question is for junc and Hobbes.

If Sanchez can be like Dilfer and Johnson... win the game when it counts late in his career, with the best defense in the league, are you willing to wait another 10 years for it to happen?

Because the Mark Sanchez that I see on the field right now is years away from getting it.

You're right ... most fans won't agree with you.
And apparently neither would most players.

It's very strange that Sanchez would be completely left off the list of Top 100 players of 2010 after he had such a good year. The list was voted on by his fellow players. Maybe they just don't like him.

Or maybe, you're the only person on earth who thinks Mark Sanchez was a Top 10 QB in 2010.

Great example of what we should be striving for this year.

That was the type of game that we're more than capable of having against teams like the Rams. Whether we can do it consistently against better teams is the question.

    I sure hope so.

You may not agree but I do.

You list guys that were mostly thought of as fringe NFL QBs/backup types

Ty Detmer 9th rd(that rd doesn't even exits anymore)
    Jay Barker- 5th rd
    Kyle Wacholtz- 7th rd pick
    Brock Huard- 3rd rd
    Josh Booty- 6th rd
    Jeff Kelly- 7th rd
    Seneca Wallace- 4th rd
    David Green- 3rd rd
    Colt McCoy- 3rd rd
Brandon Weedon - 1st rd entering year 2.

ONBE 1st rd QB, every other QB was drafted in the 3rd rd or lower and you are focusing on that instead of helping to develop 2 future HOFers and 2 other PB QBs?

I am not saying I don't give Walsh any credit, I am saying he was w/ Walsh for only 2 years and didn't start until the 3rd year of George Seifert.

He has to improve, how much will tell us if this is his last year w/ us or not.

He was a top 10ish QB in 2010, people bash that but no one can name 12-15 better QBs that season. They will throw out guys w/ better #s who couldn't find ways to win games, some will say Eli and his 25 INts which kept NYG out of the playoffs but mark was really good that year. Heck, Trent Dilfer was calling him top 10 during that season and that was before the playoffs began.

I think guys like Dilfer and Johnson are vastly underrated, I think Mark can be better than both but obviously right now he stinks based on last year but as I always mention we have to take everything into account such as Sparano and the healthy talent. No QB would be succeeding under those circumstances and that was his only BAD season.

who cares about some silly list? Most of the players don't see half the guys in the league play. You know Eli wasn't on the list until 2012, right? and I keep hearing how he is elite but how can that be if he didn't make that list?

I did not care if U trust ESPN what I said is if Jaws was lauding MS instead of dissing him U would be exalting Jaws for being so smart

BTW that show I referenced he is ranking all the QBs & MS comes in 28th out of 32. Do U think that ranking is fair. Vick was 27th BTW

Because the top 100 is the measuring stick? I could give a rats ass about that stupid list. All that matters to me is Wins and Losses; PERIOD.

Good teams have good players on BOTH SIDES of the ball. The jets are not a good team because they lack talent on one side of the ball. Is Mark part of this? He could be. Based on the teams performance in 2009 & 2010 and then in 2011 & 2012 what has changed? Supporting cast. Some will say Mark regressed and they would be correct. What is the root cause for this? Did Mark suddenly just wake up in the summer of 2011 and suck? Or, did he start to lose the supporting cast the team needed to be adequate on that side of the ball...

I knew you would bring up Eli, but if you remember, there was quite a stir about Eli not being included on the list and people debated both sides. Looking at his 2010 season, you can certainly make the case he really didn't belong on it.

The point is, the players voiced their opinion and Sanchez wasn't included in the Top 100 players of 2010 ... and NOBODY made a peep about it ... because he clearly didn't belong on the list so there was no debate to be had. You would think there would be some discussion if it was looked at as some kind of oversight, wouldn't you? Especially since he plays in the biggest media market on the planet. Nobody mentioned it because nobody in the world outside of you thinks Mark Sanchez was a Top 10 QB in 2010. You're making a ridiculous argument and you're acting like the players don't recognize who played well and who didn't.

Do you think there are many, if any, opposing defensive players and coaches in the league who are impressed with Mark Sanchez's skill as a QB, or worry about his ability to make plays against them? I doubt it, and in four years I literally can't remember ONE quote from anyone in the league praising hm as a tough adversary. Can you? If so, please find it for me. Again, it seems a little strange considering he only had one bad season and played like a Top 10 QB in 2010.

By comparison, I can still remember when we played the 85' Bears. They kicked our ass but after the game they had good things to say about the toughness and the competitiveness of our team. That's the kind of respect players earn from their peers by their performance on the field. The players know who can play and who can't.

Mark Sanchez has never played like a Top 10 QB, but we've all seen him play like a Bottom 5 QB. Most importantly, he's not the type of player that other teams need to worry about when they prepare for us, and that's a bad problem to have.

Why would you want to settle for this kind of player? We can do better than this.

No one made a peep about Eli either until 2012 after he had won 2 SBs. These lists are for debate, they are not scientific especially when half the guys don't even watch most of the players play except when breaking down game film.

The '85 bears showed respect, do you think we got that same respect in 197 or 1989? when you win you get respect, we got it in 2009, 2010 and most of 2011. We didn't to end 2011 and all of 2012.

Mark was a top 10 type of QB in 2010, those that didn't worry about him watched him lead 5-6 comebacks late that year to help us get to another title game.

you saw it from someone who knows this game not from folks who just post blind rankings. Folks that think a QB that threw 25 INTs(including 4 in their biggest game of the year) was better than mark b/c his rating was higher.

Just a guy on a message board. And you?

Those are the QBs he developed in his career. We give him credit for developing Hasselbeck who was a 6th round pick but he can't develop a decent QB out of 5 picks who were selected in the 3rd round or higher?

Favre had Andy Reid Steve Mariucci and Jon Gruden to develop with. Holmgren was with Brunell for ONE season. Steve Young had Bill Walsh and Joe Montana. I'm not saying Holmgren didn't play a small role. I'm saying I think he is overrated when it comes to developing QBs and evaluating talent. I think the facts back me up on that.

  19. This is where I disagree w/ the overall consensus regarding Mark Sanchez. I think he CAN make some spectacular plays and HAS a knack for making big throws in clutch moments. It hasn't happened the last 2 years b/c the supporting cast hasn't been there. But people suggesting he lacks arm talent or play making ability just haven't watched the guy over the last 4 years..OR are unable to differentiate between QB performance & surrounding cast.

The3 main problems w/ Sanchez are the following.

    1. Turnovers

    2. Taking an entire half to find his throwing rythym

    3. Lack of accountability/leadership
