Yeah, that what I figured. But then I didn't have the source where it was mentioned or an article to link it to...

A buddy of mine sent me the petition and I just thought I'd share it in the the thread that made the most sense.

that really deserves its own thread. there are only 138 people who have signed so far and i bet it would get alot of eyeballs as its own thread.

It's time for people on LI to get over this already. Is it really worth a petition to have the Jets practice for one night at Hofstra over 365 days in a year???

The Jets moved to NJ. It's not a reason to make such a stink. It's not like they moved to LA or London. If you want to see the Jets practice, take a ride to Cortland with the rest of Jets fans.

By the way, this moving from LI is a trend for major sports teams. In the 70s LI had three major sports teams. By 2015 it will have none. You are better off voicing your opinion at the voting booth by voting out the Republicans who have blocked every attempted effort to make the Hempstead/Uniondale area where the Jets practiced and Islanders play into a developed commercial property that is an attraction for business, people, and sports teams. That should be your petition. While you are at it, why not petition the politicians of NYC who blocked the West Side Stadium and whose failure to upgrade Shea Stadium in the 80s led to the Jets moving to NJ in the first place. The Jets are victims of politics too.

Cortland really is the best place for the TEAM to unite. They are in a small town atmosphere, and are basically insulated from any type of tomfoolery. While I can understand the negstalgic atmosphere of Hofstral; the facilities, the closeness to NYC and normality make it the 2nd choice IMO.

    what he said.

cortland serves two purposes: lets the team get far away from the metro for camp, team bonding, and to concentrate on work.

also gives jet fans from outside the big apple megapolis a chance to see the team in person at a cost far below what a trip to the atlantic center or metlife entails. traffic alone is a fraction of what it would be. :jets:

JWWS is totally right, but at the same time, it's depressing. Hm. It'd be nice if a team moved to Suffolk County, but at the same time, that'd be a terrible idea.

This isn't a voting booth, and it has nothing to do with politics.

This is about people in a fanbase that want to see their football team play.

Something that the Jets made a priority last year and now have unceremoniously withdrawn.

I actually agree with the sentiments of some of the other people. The Jets are the way that they are because they did things to please the fans and media and to sell tickets. Is it really that bad if the team spends a month far away from New York. Finds ways to bond and plays better because of it. Yes its one night that you are all asking for. But the Jets should operate based upon what is best for the team, not based upon what some fans want.

West Side Stadium you can thank Sheldon Silver (D-L) for that. I'm all for you calling out the GOP on the Hempstead issue JWWS, I'm only saying that that BOTH parties can be called out when it comes to f*cking the Jets over. Sheldon Silver who was in bed with MSG-Cablevision James Dolan throughout the West Side Stadium fight is an unprincipled crook in his own right (see: Vito Lopez payoff) and oversees probably the most corrupt legislative body in the U.S., the NYScumbag Assembly.

They both suck, GOP & Dems alike.

As for Shea, that was a municipal park and it's one of the reason why I do not like the Mets, what with the way the Jets were schedule-shafted road warriors in favor of the Mets. They didn't even get a dime from Jet season ticket holders parking at Shea for Jet 'home' games.

It was Ed "How'm I doin'?" Koch (D-L) who even after the Jets announced that they were going to play two home games in Giants Stadium who still insisted on playing hardball with Hess who eventually took the Jets (and what was left of their sovereign identity) across the river and pathetically buried it behind some lame-ass green bunting hung in what was clearly a "blue & red" stadium. To that end, I'm pissed at this present MetLife Stadium set up; it's just that, a set up...it's Giants Stadium II, all the "shared" declarations aside.

....sorry to go off on a tangent but this whole "share with the Giants" thing sucks...thank you very much Shelly Silver you unscrupulous crook...

Nobody like sharing the stadium, but let's be fair Metlife Stadium looks nothing like Vagiants Stadium...it's more like a big grey air conditioner.

The move to NJ was supposed to be temporary. In 1989 the Mets offered September home games, renovated bathrooms...and Hess still wouldn't budge. Hess shares some of the blame as well. He was truly a horrible owner

Well said, but making one visit a year to our roots wouldn't hurt.
