Laxin, that post should have read, "this season" The simple fact is, aside from not playing under center, a full one third of his passes went to Austin, which pretty much says....his "read" was if Tavon is open, deliver the football. Sanchez otoh, spent the last 4 years sitting in the pocket waiting for Schottys four day pass plays to develop. Now, reducing that insanity, certainly evens the players up a bit...but...playing in that crap does five Sanchez a huge advantage in terms of whats happening on the field. If we were going to install NEs Welker based offense, I think Geno would have an even money shot, because its closer to what he did.
It is so cool how you know what took the heart out of the team. So that must be the reason the STs failed to make a 44 yard FG to tie it right before the half. It must be why the O failed time and time again to tie or take the lead when the D gave them plenty of opportunities to do so. Dang you Eli Manning and Victor Cruz. You ruined our season with 1 play. If one play that put us down 3 before the half took the heart out of the team then we had a really crappy team. Yep, if our O had scored more than 10 points the D would have allowed another score. You should become a comedian. You sure make me laugh. The fact that you put 40 / 50% of the blame on the D for that game says it all. SUPERFAN!
You don't understand momentum, do you? O kicks FG for 3-0, D then allows 94 yd TD run. O scores TD to take lead, D immediately allows Ten TD to give them 14-10 lead. Where would I think if we scored again that Ten would score? I'm crazy! Here we go w/ the deflections again. I love those that don't know that need to deflect. It's comical.
That isn't how it went down. STs blocks FG O kicks a FG for 3-0 D forces a punt O punts D allowes a long TD run to make it 7-3 O punts D forces a punt O throwns an interception D forces a punt O Punt D forces a punt O Interception D forces a punt O Punt D forces a punt O Touchdown D allows a TD O Punt D forces a punt O Punt D forces a punt O Interception forces a punt O Interception forces a punt O has ball on Tenn 25 with 47 seconds left and O Fumbles. The D blocked a FG and held Tenn to 0 points off of FIVE turnovers and 14 points for the entire game. But they are 50% responsible for the loss when the O who scored 10 points and turned the ball over 5 times. The one that doesn't know would be the guy who thinks that. ^ It's A Bird... It's A Plane...It's SUPERFAN!! :breakdance:
Sanchez fans please answer this question: Where in the 2009 draft should Sanchez have actually been drafted? I think 4th round tops. He should have been a backup and was not meant to be a starter.
do you think the style of the offense was on the oc or was he being told i want to have this type of game plan? i cant imagine schotty wanting to run as much as we did in 09 and 10. maybe they told him to take hte reigns off? im not trying to argue it just giving a what if.
Momentum is one of the most overrated entities in all of sports. It's not real and has no effect on outcomes. All it is is just the last thing that happened. Recent history, is just that, history. It's overrated when it comes to a season as a whole ... (ie. why would the Colts sit their starters and lose all the momentum they have?) But it's especially overrated in the smaller confines of a singular game. In the NFL, players, coaches, etc.. recognize that every team has good players and things they do well. To get to that level, they've also won and lost many many games along the way... If they give up a touchdown or something, it doesn't STICK with them. It's simply "your turn now". If the Jets team was so distraught giving up a touchdown to the Titans that they couldn't function the rest of way, then they might as well axe the whole team and staff because they are not professionals. Only in sports do we speak of momentum like this.. It's because drama sells, and ultimately it's a game, entertainment. People like to hear about this "momentum" and how a team will overcome it, but in actuality - it doesn't REALLY exist.
You obviously like the storybook pictures of games that you get from your newspapers. Of course you think momentum is very important, you like your drama.
so the O got a lead, the D blew it. The O got the lead back and the D blew it again. It's exactly what I said. Right where he was, it's hard to win in this league. In 4 years here he has DOUBLE the amount of postseason wins any jets QB has in our history, the 4 playoff wins are half the total from 1960-2008. I'll take that any day. It absolutely is real. You don't think momentum played any role in the Mon Night miracle? That play was a crusher. 3rd and 10 from their 1 yd line, is there a better situation for a defense? We get a stop and NYG punts from their EZ and we get it around midfield w/ a chance to extend our lead but instead they go 99 yds to take the lead in a game we had controlled from the start. That changed everything. Momentum works in real life too, I'm not sure what planet you live on it but when people are feeling good it makes whatever they do easier. Thanks dark knight and jstokes.
I don't think Momentum had anything to do with the Monday Night miracle, No. I think it had more to do with the Jets offense abandoning their gameplan when they were forced to, and exploiting a weakness in the Miami secondary.. over and over again. Now you know you are full of shit when you start believing momentum works in real life. That's not going to get you far at all. I'll let you know though when the intern here, who's "feeling good" does something note worthy.
I was just saying that it cannot be measured by statistics. While watching a game, you can clearly see how momentum plays a part in the outcome.
Yes, if you REALLY want to believe something plays a part - in your case momentum - then you can "clearly" see it.
Once they got rolling Miami couldn't stop them, one team felt positive like they couldn't be stopped and the other negative like they couldn't stop anyone. I don't know what kind of work you do in real life but if you don't think you can get on a roll I can't help you. Go ask Eli or Victor Cruz if they think that play changed everything.
Had Miami just fixed their secondary, and/or figured out a way to generate pressure on Vinny in the fourth quarter of that game, then that momentum or roll that the Jets were on, would've meant diddily-squat. Lastly, a better question would be to ask Rex Ryan or Mark Sanchez if that play changed everything. If the answer is yes, then I'd suggest they take up a new profession. Fortunately, I think the answer would be no.
Except, the hate crowd ignores the watching the game part. Momentum, gets discussed in almost every close NFL game. Yet, because they hate the guy, that will be under Center week 1 it doesnt exist. Like penny didnt throw interceptions, at a rate, he never did in his career under Schotty. Nope. Never happened. sanchez just sucks. When Sanchez has a good year this year, the Jets return to the playoffs, it will be all the team, and luck.
Miami's secondary was considered one of the best, Miami's D was great up to that point in the season. They had allowed a TOTAL of 3 TDs through their first 6 games, they allowed FOUR in the 4th qtr of our game. They allowed 51 through 6 games and 40 against us. Through 3 qtrs. we had scored 7 pts, once we started moving it and scoring we got on a roll. if you don't think momentum played any role I can't help you. Unfortunately I don't get a chance to talk to those guys but I have talked to those Giants, you wouldn't like they answer they gave me(at separate times).
