It's only perceived as doing the right thing by people who are ignorant to the fact that they knew was a thug all along. And that's how the media will portray it - as if they had no idea he was a thug until he was arrested for murder and then the pats immediately "did the right thing". Bullshit. They did what they thought was best for their image, not the right thing.
i absolutely agree. but they look like the good guy. i agree with you. but i commend them for being really good at being douchebags. one must hope it catches up to them eventually. shit this guys brother was hired as a high school football coach in southington, i believe he got relieved of his duties after 1 year. he was also involved in a minor scandal about a stolen play wristband. BUT imagine that one kid is doing THIS kind of shit? what is the brother doing?
What cap compensation did they get for cutting him? And maybe, just maybe, the case against Lewis wasn't as clear cut? i mean he did get acquitted. As to their actions being prejudicial, I don't see why that should matter to the Pats. If they have looked at the evidence against the guy and have determined he is guilty, that is their prerogative. They don't need to wait on a legal determination of guilty to determine for themselves that this is a scumbag they don't want close to their team.
And what is the alternative, keeping him and facing the music? Seriously, what what you do if you ran Pats?
Nothing like the fast food worker telling the multi-million dollar business how to do business. Considering you have nothing at stake in making your proclamation, you don't have the credibility to claim that is what practical decision to make. It is standing behind the poker player telling him to go all in, but not risking a dime of your own money on the table.
fuck the media praising the patriots for releasing him and the patriots way garbage! they drafted him and were responsible all along. http://www.thisis50.com/profiles/blogs/former-new-england-patriots-player-aaron-hernandez-possibly
No matter what they did, they would be portrayed as the good guy. They were proven as cheaters 7 years ago and continue to get that Golden Boy treatment by national media.
This incident just showed the Pats to be a weasel organization we all know they are. drafts players of questionable background then don't have the backbone to stand by their players. trust me this will resonate with free agents and draftees going forward. I'm around ballers all day, I roll in that crew. I know how those guys think. Players see themselves as joining a family when they join a team and families that ditch at the first sign of trouble aren't organizations they wanna be affiliated iwth. I see a mass exodus of players from the pats soon.
Don't bet on it. Just like they way that they get the perception of "good guys" from the press, they will continue to retain talent despite the cut. In pro sports, winning fixes everything. And don't think for a second that this guy's lose cannon attitude didn't get players in that locker room nervous about him. He now has three open shooting investigations in which he is a prime suspect and two of them involve homicides.
To the nation's media probably with the exception of this forum, The "Patriot Way" will never ever do any wrong. 1. Spygate 2. Drafting Hernandez when EVERY team said the kid was troubled, yet getting credit and praise for releasing him after the arrest instead of getting bashed for giving him an extension and covering their asses by releasing him. 3. Matt Light reported that Hernandez was a questionable teammate and questioned his attitude and beliefs. Apparently the "godsend" Bill Belicheck was unaware of the locker room turmoil but yet the media NEVER questions if Belicheck has a pulse on the locker room, and is so classy 4. The Patriot Way is so great, Wes Welker ran outta town 5. Is Tebow even on the Patriots? Prior to Hernandez, there was little to no coverage on him like there was here! 6. Robert Kraft's wife dies of cancer last year and now the dude is already banging a 29 year old supermodel. Asshole. The fucking media around the nation bashes the Jets any opportunity they can. I'd rather be a die hard fan of a team with a buttfumbling, naked ass dancing with two chicks, loud mouth head coach, instead of a classless organization like the Patriots who cheat, and draft murderers. They are like the pretty girl at the party. Everyone will always say how hot she is no matter where she goes and no matter who sees her, except when the clothes come off and you realize she's got STD's
Not to mention left his wife on her death bed to go help with negotiating the end of the lockout. There are other owners, be a man and spend every last second with your wife. Of all the things i hate about the Pats this is the one that i hold highest as the least classy thing i have ever witnessed.
Right. Because this is worse than simply cutting players because you don't want to pay them. What an outright f'ing stupid argument to make. All the players that have signed with them over the years despite the fact that they are notoriously cheap when it comes to the end of a contract, but cutting a player accused of murder is why they won't want to play there. I am assuming the echo in your head is why you couldn't hear how stupid that idea is.
Any chance you can compartmentalize it? They were assholes when they drafted and supported a thug. Yes, releasing Hernandez is good for their image, but it also happened to be the right thing.
