How can you compare TD/Int numbers in 2006 to QBs in 2011?

In 2011 Brees threw 46 TDS which was the 4th highest in NFL history. Rodgers threw 45. Matthew Stafford threw 41 TDs. 3 QBs threw for more than 40 TDs and over 5,000 yards. Nearly half the league's QBs threw for 20 or more TDs including 2 rookie QBs. Only 1 QB threw for 30 TDs in 2006.

Where did Mark rank in completions? #15
Where did Mark rank in completion percentage? #28
Where did Mark in yards? #15
Where did Mark rank in Yards per attempt? #27
Where did Mark rank in interceptions thrown? Tied for 3rd most.

Where did Chad rank in completions? #8
Where did Chad rank in completion percentage? #4
Where did Chad rank in yards? #10
Where did Chad rank in yards per attempt? #13
Where did Chad rank in interceptions thrown? #7

You can blindly compare the TDs in a different time in the NFL but Chad under Schotty blows the doors off of Mark under Schotty in nearly every other category. Please stop with this nonsense.

He would occasionally go through good stretches, but overall, he was an average at best OC for the Jets. Way too predictable. It was pathetic. I agree, he was never as bad as some fans would say, but he definitely was not great. Play calling is his #1 issue.

Schotty had his strengths and weaknesses but he was definitely a better OC than almost everyone here gives him credit for. Whenever I would defend Schotty all you get is that 1 stupid gif because 1 play apparently defines years of success in NY.

Sporano was just awful though. I dont think anyone can defend him. I just hope Marty can bring in his new system and tailor it towards Sanchez or Geno like Schotty did.

For every game Schotty called that ended up great (Patriots playoff game) there are about 6 games similar to the Seahawks (2008) game and the Giants game (2011) that were complete s***

Is Sanchez [Schottenheimer among QBs], of is Schottenheimer [Sanchez among OCs]?

oc wasnt a failure, more like a mediocre ball-less excuse for a coach with a popular last name. sparano was a failure. thats why we were able to make it to two title games, but hes also one of the reasons its just title game and not super bowl appearances

the nfl is as much about results as it is one big frat... a name goes a long way with average results and two spiffy title game appearances on the back of a head coach that lit a fire under the teams ass...

Years of success? What years were those? Did you mean to say year of success when Favre told him to shove his retard playbook up his ass?

I get a kick whenever Hobbes starts with the red zone stuff.
Yeah...we were #2 in red zone efficiency.
But #15 in red zone scoring attempts per game and #22 in red zone TD
    attempts per game.

It's like an ugly girl with a nice ass.

No excuses, the man made his legacy playing through pain. We sucked most of the year, 2 games skewed all the #s(Ari and SL)and playing that weak sched made us look better than we were until favre tanked our season.

You realize the stats you are harping on, are the ones that actually Indicate GETTING TO THE RED ZONE.

In essence, youre making my argument,

I dont disagree, but the Seattle game was an perfect example. Bad weather, undersized d, injured QB, and we put it up how many times?

31? for 18 completions, and we were getting 4.6 on the ground.

After Penny going +1 td/int 2 years in a row, pennys miami performance and that game alone, shou,d have sent Schotty packing.

we've been through this, they ran it pretty equally until late when they had to throw.

4.6 looks good but we caught them off guard w/ Tony Richardson, that wasn't going to continue. Thomas Jones who was our workhorse averaged less than 4 YPC.

The great Seneca Wallace threw almost as many as far w/ a better comp %, almost the same yards, 1 more TD and 2 less INTs.

Chad was coming off his 2nd shoulder surgery in 2006, in 2007 he had other injury issues and the OL was atrocious(that's why spent a boatload on woody & Faneca after the '07 season).

Exactly....we had a hard time getting there.

So being all efficient in the red zone don't mean shit at the end of the day. I'd rather get there twice as many times and be 25% less efficient.

It's nice to be #2 on the 2011 Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only) list.
But when Detroit is #1 on that same list, does it really matter?

You might as well say that Whoopi Goldberg gives a great blowjob.

    Who cares.

Other posters have already thoroughly debunked what Hobbes believes to be a scientific NFL study. The variation in best red zone teams from year to year is extremely random yet he is going to cling onto whatever he can to make his boy look good.

    PS...still waiting Hobbes

As long as her head is face down, i can close my eyes and imagine its Rihanna.

On the Sanchez thing, its exactly the point.

    I gave you two scenarios.

    Two QBs one coach.

    On QB two coaches.

First scenario, accurate guy throws uncharacteristic picks.

Second scenario, pick throwing guy, raises level of play.

    Get it?
