We all must be reminded of Constitutional Rights. Especially, freedom to pursuant to happiness. Vague as it may sound one can argue this in favor of gay marriage.
We know that our GOVT doesnt always do whats in our best intrest. But really what is our best intrest. National security? Budget concerns? Taxes? Immigration? I see illegals all day driving cross town. I see gays all day on campus. At this point who cares about either. The GOVT does not do enough to enforce this shit. 8 Immigration offices 2 of which are in NY and NJ. the 3rd is in VA. We only have about 8k immigration naturalization workers. Im not saying that we need more workers. Just a better process. The only immigrants people seem to be concerned about are Mexicans... Why is that? We have caps on each country limiting the number of each. But gay marraige no straight politician will do back flips for the gay community because of the backlash he or she would receive in his territory.
I think they are too preoccupied setting GMO crops on fire to hear about the news. Maybe tomorrow we see them rioting in the streets. It is funny how something so simple can really turn people's worlds upside down.
You don't have a constitutional right to the pursuit of happiness, that is from the Declaration of Independence, which has no legal standing.
The entire constitution is debated by Judges many of whom look to our founders intention as the basis for their decisions. The Declaration of Independence is the founding principle of our nation. It has legal standing if one is using founding principles in their Constitutional interpretation. Magna Carta has legal standing if Judges believe it has implications to our founders meaning. Not that I care what the Founders thought but apparently some of the SC Judges do care. Hard to argue that the Pursuit of Happiness is a founding principle of this country and should be defended by the Government whenever possible.
