K, Why'd I start this thread? Because it's a preemptive strike of the shit storm that is coming!! You guys already know I'm a big Revis supporter and would have done anything to keep him here.. Did you see the contract(s)? 13 Mil w/3 mil in Bonuses... I'm sure there could have been a better deal for us. Truth is, our owner could have kept him but he lacks the capacity to think outside the box. and He could have easily gotten a return on his investment if he would have actually marketed the superstar... Imagine the stadium having a "Revis Island" bar & Grill? or a "Mangold's Center of Steaks" or How about a David Harris "Pancake House"?? lol... Oh no, he can't because he chose to go halvesies like a cheap bitch.... k, Back on topic. I'm willing to bet we will see Revis Marketed bigger than he was here. That is an absolute crime.... We'll see a Revis Island placed next to the Buccaneer ship and people lining up to see him... A Billion $$ owner (Actually don't know if he is lol) who traded away this player because he just doesn't have the balls.... While I am rooting for Revis, there is no way I root against my JETS so throw that shit away...lol... All this of course is predicated that he is healthy.... If he ends up re-injuring his ACL, all of a sudden it'll (undeservedly) be called a genius move. oh.. and yea, Mr. "He's gone, Get over it"... this is The NFL section...
After the 2010-2011 season we should have given Holmes contract to Revis. That was a Big mistake by Tanny. Or Half of Holmes contract to Revis and the other half to Braylon that would have been even wiser. Fuck you Holmes!
Yep, the JETS played it cheap. They had a chance to lock him up for the rest of his career but chose to do a shorter contract so Revis said fine but Money in the Early years.. Funny how no one remembers that's how the JETS played it.
Why is Woody getting jobbed for this? Not that I think he's a good owner, but we had a certain "cap genius" as GM that low-balled one of the best players to ever wear a Jets uniform while throwing money at a quarterback that has never risen above slightly below average for an entire season and a punk POS undersized underachieving wideout. Give credit where credit is due.
That's all on Tannebaum for just handing out contracts without a plan. Dude was acting like Revis was his best friend or something telling him after the AFCCG against the Colts that "We will take care of you". God damnit. Dude still had years on his contract.
We couldn't afford him, plain and simple. It's not about balls. Tanny gave too many overpaying contracts to players substantially worse, but Revis' demands were a bit high. I honestly don't think it will effect our defense much at all. I bet our D is better without Revis. Saying that you should have given Holmes' contract to Revis is absurd. Our offense was never that great and keeping our important playmakers on a top 11 offense, is more important than keeping your defensive players on a top 5 D. Defense is pointless if your O can't score.
He didn't, though. Because of the moronic contract that Tanny negotiated, Revis was able to opt out. Idzik was handcuffed by Tanny's terrible decisions.
Holmes takes plays off and has never earned that lofty contract. Holmes, is a bum and a crybaby "throw a flag ref" How about catch the fucking ball. I cannot wait until that piece of shit is off the team. He threw the football to the other team. hmy: incredible. Holmes, never deserved the contract or the title captain  what a joke. We should have resigned Braylon for cheap and spent the rest on our best player #24. Anyways...moving on.
The odds on Revis seeing even 3 years of the $16M a year deal are low. It's just too much money to pay a CB, even if he's playing some of the best CB ever. If for any reason he's not playing some of the best CB ever, well then he's an easy cut and that's the most likely result as Darrelle Revis approaches his 30th birthday on July 14th, 2015.
If he pick 6's Sanchez in Week 1, the cops will need tear gas and water cannons to calm the crowd at the Metlife.
Well part of it is because I fuckin despise Woody...lol But so many people blame the Head Coach when the Coordinators are under him and when the team doesn't perform wel,, The Owner picked Tanny to Be the GM so doesn't the same logic apply? Either way, I honestly believe Woody has a bigger role than they lead on...
I agree, I wonder if Tanny never said anything to Revis, would Revis still hold out in 2010? Tanny got too personal with our best player. Idzik did what was needed. At least we got value for him in the end. I'm excited to see what Idzik does with actual cap room next off season.
so I read the initial post three times and still cant figure out why the thread was started. What am i Missing? We dindt give a CB 16 million a year---thats the best thing the Jets have done in YEARS
Right? And a mod (a good one at that) even started it. I don't get it either. Revis is gone. Why are we still talking about him? It's like talking about a girl that left you months/years back. It sucks that we had to see him go but I'd rather talk about our current players.
You clearly didn't read it...Read the last part... I guess you guys either skimmed through it or didn't pay attention to what the context was... So I'll make it simpler for you.. Here hold my hand. We know he's gone, what I'm simply bringing up is: - A preemptive Strike to all the Revis shit (so It'll all be in here) - Bringing to light how Woody doesn't know wtf he's doing in terms of maximizing a player's worth - A note to people whose only reaction is to "Get over it". NYJATW, we all know JD has a Reading/Learning?Comprehension disorder but you have no excuse....lmao.. C'mon Meng!
Hey Tee I was a big supporter as well, even have the now useless #24 jersey  I bought that one during the 09 campaign. I would have loved to have kept him, and wasn't very pleased with what we got in return, but I don't think anybody can really be mad at Idzik for whatever ends up happening in regards to the Revis situation. As far as the contract goes, I would not have been happy with how much Tampa gave him, so I guess I would have been personally pissy about it regardless of the outcome, but a jets fan couldn't have had much faith that Revis would have honestly stayed past this season..
