Theres that patented Geno Smith ego again, when will it end!!!:breakdance: He'd be right to an extent. He's got more to do, but he's certainly gotten to a good place. You seem pretty ticked at Mangold, relax dude.
I'm ticked at anyone opening their mouth about anything No one on this team has a right to say who they want to play or should play
Mangold isn't exactly some joe blow scrub on the team. Not to mention he actually put his name to it...
LTJF, I dont recall the same outrage, when Mike Freeman the fraud, was pishing his "unnamed source" claiming sanchez lost the locker room.
I don't know what you're talking about but I'm pretty sure no one ever said they had no right to say something?
I don't give a fuck we don't need that shit Let's be real we all want the best man to play but to say the locker room wants Sanchez is not needed. So if Geno gets named QB all it takes is one reporter to say the locker room was pulling for Mark and they're unhappy about the decision by bringing up Mangolds quote If Sanchez isn't the guy we need and Rex tries to put him out there I'm sure Idzik will cut Sanchez and Rex will be all but gone I understand loyalty but its to the point where they need to stop coddling Sanchez and yes publicly supporting him is doing that because it makes him start to feel safe and that's the last thing we need If he wins this job I want it to be cause he earned it not because Mangold or Tone or Rex wants him under center
What the heck are you even talking about? All mangold said was that he thinks Sanchez gives them the best chance to win at this point. It's june and smith is a rookie. Mangolds statement should have been obvious facts to most everyone. Somehow you've managed to make some terrifically illogical leaps in reason here. Hysteria! Sadface
No, that was my point. A rather large subset of posters embraced number ? Unkown Jet, number Question Mark....I kill me...
And we wonder why Geno is not interested in jet west. He is coming after Mark Sanchez. Attending would show Sanchez respect and Geno wants that spot. Young buck smells blood. He's not conceeding to anybody. Whether we know what he has or not in terms of QB skills, he has shown one thing already. Moxie. he ain't here for friends. Just what I am seeing so far and he has not played a snap. Got a QB's attitude. He's coming for you Mark!
Yes, so...alienate the rest of the locker room, by going Geno-fer Lopez. You win respect, by being a team mate, then performing Telling everyone, you dont need the reps with the wide outs, looks bad.
May the Best man win, at every position. Being a lifelong Orioles fan (god help me) I have seen how Buck Showalter has created a culture of accountability and turned the Orioles around. He has created the "Next Man Up' mentality. Basically, no position is safe. No Veteran has earned the right to play based on previous years production, they need to prove it day in and day out. I think Johnny I is implementing the same type of ideology here with the Jets, or I hope he is. The real issue with the Jets is, they just dont have the talent on the Offensive side of the ball to make this work (especially at WR, TE, and OG) because they have neglected this side of the ball in the draft for so long. This is why I want to see a TC littered with high ceiling UDFA and veterans tying to make a roster. Regarding the starting QB; whether its Mark or Geno, the starting QB will need to win the job out-right based on performance in TC and the pre-season. While I can appreciate Mangold’s confidence in his QB, all he needs to worry about is making the calls for the line and keeping the DT from crushing his QB (who-ever that may be). From there Rex will need to keep a short leash on the starter as the Next Man up is waiting...
If it was Holmes West it would be different. He is going to a camp led by the person he is trying to beat out.. Sanchez is going to have this fool through to high schoolers.. Who do you honestly think would get the most reps? Geno is better off practicing back in Jersey and picking Lee and Mornengwhigs brain.. He will have plenty of time for reps and meshing with the WR's in training camp.
Jets West this year would be a mistake. It's Sanchez private get together for himself and his receivers to work on things and generally bond some by doing the work and then socializing afterwards. The problem this year is that Sanchez doesn't have "his" receivers to work with. He's not the starting QB at this point and any moves that he makes that assume the role are as likely to be team-splitting as team-making. He may win the job in camp but at the moment the Jets starting QB position is open and the Jets should discourage moves by any of the QB's to create artificial space in the competition. Jets West-type activities are for successful QB's trying to make things work better. They're not for QB's hanging on to their job by their finger-nails with a locker room that is demonstrably split on whether or not they can do the job. Put another way: what would the reaction be to Geno Smith saying he was hosting some informal workouts in Miami on his tab and inviting the Jets receivers to the party?
Exactly. If you are the clear cut starter, then by all means go for it.. Its like Matt Simms holding a camp for the receivers at this point.
No, it's much worse than Matt Simms holding a camp. If Matt Simms held a camp almost nobody would go. The problem with Mark Sanchez holding a camp is that half the guys might go and for the young guys if he was paying the freight they might all go just to get a taste of the good life. It's a team-splitting process at this point not team-building. It's awkward when the QB position is in transition on a team not meeting expectations. Things like Jets West have the potential to turn awkward into ugly.
You would think MM or David Lee or Rex or even Idzik would step in and say something about it.. Tell Mark maybe this year is not the best year to have this given the situation with Geno and the fact that you suck at QB.
It's a tough situation to try to manage. NFL teams can't forbid their players from doing what they want to do in their free time, unless it is an activity specifically proscribed by their contract. Asking Sanchez not to hold Jets West is probably the best thing they could do but that's going to blow up in their faces when it hits the media. Getting Geno Smith signed is probably required before they do that.
"Jets West" is just an excuse for Sanchez to show his buddies a good time partying in L.A. I don't think it's a big deal if he holds it or not, or if Geno Smith goes or not. Frankly I hope he doesn't. Fuck that facade.
The team hasn't even practices in pads yet Geno is still learning and has more time prior to week 1 and Mangold has been front and center of the Sanchez debacle I don't see him saying at this point Mark gives us the best chance to win as something we need to hear from anyone
