I appreciate your passion and sticking up for what you believe even though I think you are absolutely nuts!! Haha.

At the end of the day though, there really is no need for name calling and shit. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and at the end of the day we all want what puts the Jets in the best position to win games.

With that being said, if I come up to New York and Sanchez is starting against the Bucs, I am rushing the field and doing us all a favor and taking him out.

Hey, I agree with you,,,we are all supposed to be Jers fans, arguing the merit of a particular player, shouldnt be so acrimonious.

as for rushing the field, even Vince Wilfork chose brandon Moore over Mangold, so....go over the guard

Are you going to the game? I would love to buy you a beer and we can watch Geno lead us to victory together.

Why would Mangold say that he and most of the team want Sanchez to start? Won't that fuck with Geno's head?? Is it necessary to say that shit?? We all know Sanchez is your boy, but keep that shit to yourself..

Now if Geno does start, he will know that the guy who is delivering him the ball every play doesn't even want him in the huddle... I am telling you, there is going to be a serious split in the locker room and it is not going to be good in the long run.

If Mangold says anything else then the fat lady is officially singing for Sanchez Jets career. Maybe he should have not said anything but this team has been short on people going on the record lately and at least this is on the record.

I disagree on this. If Sanchez can't separate from Smith in training camp then the odds are pretty good Smith will start and even Sanchez loyalists on the Jets are going to have to acknowledge that when his job was on the line he didn't look any better than a rookie.

I thought mangold was very thoughtful with his words when he specifically said "at this point". It seems many missed those 3 important words though. Sadface

Its the coaches job to be rating players at any point. Not Mangold or Holmes. It just gives the impressions that sides are being chosen.

This could be a blessing in disguise though. Maybe the comments from both Holmes and Mangold are going to light even more of a fire under Geno's ass and he is going to come out swinging for the fences .

Regardless of what Mangold/Holmes have said publicly, you know in the back of their minds they're aware of the possibility of Geno taking the starting job sometime before week 1.

The reality of the situation is that players are going to pick a side, mostly based on who they think gives them the best chance to win.

logically, it totally makes sense that holmes and mangold support sanchez. these guys have been together for 4 years and are friends probably off the field. like if my friend sucked ass at football i'd still say i'd want him to start because he's my friend, but maybe thats just me. i know some people will say that they should grow up and say what they really think, but i honestly believe thats easier said than done.

anyways on the topic of geno, do you guys get the sense that david lee is crucial for the success of this team? it really seems like geno has good pocket awareness, anticipation, and arm, but his footwork and IQ need some help. for me, it looks like this all comes on david lee whether geno succeeds or not. maybe im putting too much stock into it, but idk

Geno is a more natural QB at this point even with less experience than Sanchez.
Sanchez is over thinking every move every throw. He seems like a robot with every play.

Sanchez is scared and has no confidence.
Geno is excited and looking to prove himself.

My call, Geno will be starting game 1.
If we sign Brandon Lloyd we will be in contention for the playoffs.

And I loved Sanchez but love doesn't win Football games, QBs do and Geno is our better QB.

Not really. I think having an OC that knows what a QB can and cant do, and how mpthe modern passing game works, is the difference.

I hope not. His QB pedigree doesn't look too good...

    Cowboys 2001/2002 - Qunicy Carter
    Dolphins 2008/2010 - Chad Henne
    Bills 2012 - Fitzpatrick

I do not think his IQ is a question mark at all. If you watched the interview with Gruden before the draft, you could see that his football knowledge is very high. He is not as well spoken as an RG3 or Luck but that doesn't have anything to do with his IQ. He is learning a completely new offense that has no similarities to the offense he ran in college. It is going to take some time for him to learn this. I don't think he will fully grasp the playbook until mid-season if that early. The good thing is that he won't need to learn it all right away. I am sure Idzik took some notes on how they eased Wilson into things in Seattle and will make sure the same is done with Geno as to not overwhelm him too soon..

In regards to the footwork thing, I am no QB coach but I feel like that should be something that is easy to correct. If he really struggles with the footwork heading into the season, let him run the offense from the Shotgun.. It seemed that Vick was in the shotgun the majority of the time so whats the difference?

i should of been more specific, i know geno smith has an excellent football IQ. what i meant by it is that ive read he is having trouble with the WCO terminology and stuff, which is totally understandable and expected. that my bad, i should of been more specific

If we are heading into Week 1 and we are still hearing reports of him struggling with the terminology and schemes, then we should start to worry.. Its only the end of June though and he has plenty of time to study and pick Marty's brain. All of his coaches at WVU say his work ethic is ridiculous, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

August 9th against the Lions couldn't come any sooner.

Most Players do but Holmes IMO is a different cat. He needs someone he is familiar with when trying to come back from a career changing injury (his game is about quickness getting in and out of his breaks). He could very well be a cap cut next year and he will be playing for a contract (this is also why I think he starts the season on the PUP list and we dont see him till week 6).

Sorry for my ani Holmes rant but he is not like most players....fucking cancer/Diva

Holmes can kick rocks he'll be gone by next year

Mangold should keep his mouth shut and worry about blocking Gerald McCoy week 1
