there is certainly a contradiction, because your initial position was that discussing this incident in terms of its effect on football when there was a greater social issue at hand revealed a tremendous lack of character in those doing so that you pitied.

just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it, especially when that answer would force you to behave hypocritcally to your previous position. the only answer to his question, if you truly believed the bullshit you spew, would have been "it doesn't matter whether the Pats release him or not or what effects it has on their cap, there are greater things than football at a time like this when we are talking about someone who was murdered."

instead, you ignored your previous position that, and here is the quote:
so, there would be time to discuss the salary cap ramifications of Hernandez's situation down the road, if you truly believe that bullshit, and right now the only thing of importance should be trying to find out if Hernandez murdered someone or was part of the murder, because, I hate to break it to you, but that's bigger than football.

but you didn't, because you are a hypocrite, who only takes the opposing opinion of everyone else so you can pretend that you are right and everyone else is wrong.

as the old saying goes, never lie because the truth is easier to remember. everything you spout is bullshit because you are only interested in being contrary. problem is it is the same thing as lying, and since it isn't true you don't remember what you actually say, and you contradict it. well done.

U mad? Maybe because no matter how badly your team fucks up, nobody gives a shit?

Everyone views your team the way they did the Bengals during the 90's. Just a pitiful franchise that almost digs itself out of that deep hole of failure, peeks it's head out, and then falls back to the dreary bottom.

    Start digging, little guy.

He asked me a question, I answered it. Why are you worried about me? shouldn't you be wasting your time hoping Tom Brady runs over a small child w/ his car?

I never do, sometimes less intelligent posters confuse 2 entirely different arguments. They THINK they are similar(such as comparing the Hernandez situation to the Goodson one) but in reality they are not.

I find it amusing that you claim others are less intelligent yet you do not know the meaning of the word contradiction.

You asked a question, I answered it. I didn't contradict anything and coming from someone comparing the Goodson situation w/ this situation you really shouldn't talk about intelligence.

he asked you a question and being the hypocrite you are your answer contradicted your previous bullshit without any clue that you were doing so.

A comparison of 2 similar situations, i.e. 2 players accused of a crime, produced 2 different suggested courses of action by you.

In the first a player was accused of being in possession of marijuana, a gun and one hollow point bullet, your first reaction was, 7 posts in and 9 minutes after the thread was started, that the Jets should release said player.

In the second, the player is connected to a homicide, trashed his security system and his cell phone, hired a cleaning crew to scrub his home all, in any logical analysis, to cover up evidence, been sued for shooting someone in the face and was somewhat involved in a nightclub skirmish after which the authorities found a gun, your first reaction was to chastise posters here for worrying about football instead of the victim and you still claim he should not be released based on a monetary value assigned to him since it was higher than the monetary value assigned to Goodson.

    That would be a contradiction

That's true. The Goodson situation is one of pure stupidity and immaturity. The Hernandez situation is one that is dealing with the intentional killing of another person. The Hernandez situation is multiple times worse.

Congratulations. You have successfully hijacked this thread from a discussion of this case to the typical NYJUNC vs the board incessant argument where you don't concede a point and it just goes on and on. Sometimes, for a smart guy, your posts are very Champ-like in that you repeat the same thing over and over again and you refuse to give ground even when you should. It gets tiring.

The whole point of what people are saying is that there is a double standard in how the media views and treats the Pats vs the Jets. You dismiss it based on one team winning. Most of us know better because the Pats are not the only successful team in the NFL and the Jets, while not making the playoffs, have won 14 games the past two seasons. The media treats the Jets like shit and the Pats like gold and now that the Pats have had a month where everything has gone wrong, Jets fans are justifiably waiting for the circus tent to be erected over Gillette Stadium. And when it isn't, and the media makes a big deal about some Jets player doing something minor and irrelevant and it is the lead story on NFL Total Access and ESPN while we keep hearing about how the Pats do everything right, it gets maddening.

The Pats don't do anything more right than many other franchises, their system is not better, their players are not sprinkled with magic pixie dust when they put on that uniform and their CS does not walk on water. They happened to catch lightning in a bottle with Brady, took advantage of some other teams with lopsided trades, won some big post season games they had no business winning (the tuck game, the 2011 AFC Championship vs the Ravens, the 2001 and 2003 Super Bowls for example), and now everybody acts as if they are the model franchise.

In reality, they cheated to win from 2001-2006, they have a bunch of jerks on the team (Gronkowski leads the pack, Brady lacks an ounce of class etc.), they brought in the biggest circus ringleader in NFL history under the same circumstances as the Jets and the move was labeled "brilliant," their owner has had some bizarre incidents with young women and world leaders, and they have let go of some questionable players this year, and since 2004, this team has continually come up short in big games. We Jets fans want to see the media call a spade a spade and rightfully criticize this organization rather than praise it.

The murder of Lloyd is obviously a horrible thing to happen, and if Hernandez was involved in it I hope he spends as much time in prison as a judge can legally give him.

That being said, you just wrote a bunch of stuff that mostly falls somewhere between stupid and flat out wrong. The Patriots didn't sign Tebow under the same circumstances as the Jets did. The Jets traded picks for him, and invested much more than the Patriots did. In fact, the Jets are paying Tebow more just in 2013 than the Patriots entire two-year contract will pay him. And the media attention surrounding the Jets-Tebow debacle isn't a case of the media having a double standard. The Jets played along every chance that the media gave them. Every week there were new quotes from within the Jets organization about how the Jets would use him, how often he would play, and how their "secret Tebow package" as going to take the league by storm.

Meanwhile, just a couple of weeks after picking Tebow up, the media has already run out of things to say. The Patriots have given them absolutely nothing to work with, so the few remaining stories about him focus on his contract and his charity work. It is also a much different situation when you have a HOFer cemented in the starting QB position than when you have Mark Sanchez.

How is Gronk a huge jerk? I get that Jets fans don't like him. His personality doesn't really appeal to me either, to be honest. But the worst that you can say about him is that he is immature. Having one single immature player on your team doesn't warrant any kind of media attention or criticism. There are literally hundreds of players in the NFL that you can say much worse about. And some of them happen to be on the Jets (Holmes has had multiple incidences involving violence against women, Ellis pleaded guilty to assault and battery and spent time in prison, Cromartie had $500K in outstanding child support payments when the Jets picked him up, etc). And I'm not saying that you can't find some other examples of Patriots players who are less than angels either, but the fact that you chose to use Gronk as an example proves that this is more about your dislike for the Patriots than anything they have actually done.

Brady is a totally classless player? Because of the finger point, or what? I'm sure you can come up with a few examples of his behavior that a Jets fan might call "classless", but the rest of the world outside of NY doesn't seem to agree with you, and you're an idiot if you think that is just the media being biased. None of the "classless" things he has done are even remotely significant in an average persons mind.

And the Patriots have let go of some questionable players? I assume you mean they have let go of good players, since letting go of "questionable" players would seem like a good thing. The only special talent that left NE this year is Welker. One good player leaving is hardly remarkable in the NFL, and the fact that Welker is gone has been talked about plenty.

Before this Hernandez incident, your shining examples of the Patriots being just as bad as everyone else are as follows: A tight end acting immature off the field, a QB doing horribly classless things like pointing his finger to the opposite bench after scoring a TD, the team benefiting from a controversial call from the refs, and the wealthy owner dating a younger woman. Do you not realize how dumb this sounds? There are more examples that you can find as well, but you seem to be missing the point. The attention and criticism that the Jets have received has little to do with their misdeeds and legal troubles. Most of it actually revolves around their own quotes and thir failures on the field. The Jets receive attention because they draw it to themselves.

In 2009-2010 the Jets did everything they could to get the media talking about them. Do you think that afterwards that attention is suddenly going to disappear? Any HC who guarantees Super Bowls and then comes up short is going to receive attention for it. Any team that signs a popular player, spends the entire offseason talking about the "secret wildcat packages" involving that player, then hardly even uses that player en route to a losing season, is going to get questioned on what the hell they were thinking. Any team that has contractual disputes with their best player extending over multiple years is going to get attention for it.

If only the actual Patriots could mount this robust a defense, they'd have won another couple of Super Bowls.

You can make the same argument, or at least a very similar argument, for literally every single NFL team that has had a sustained period of success in this era of football. Unless you have a top QB surrounded by good talent (i.e. lucky draft picks), you simply aren't going to win championships in this league. You might be able to win one with "just" an average QB or "just" average drafts, but you definitely won't win two or three.

And I'm not under the impression that the Patriots have some magical system that guarantees them success. Just like everyone else, they needed and will continue to need things beyond their control to fall their way in order for them to be successful. But that doesn't take anything away from all the things that they have done right. There are plenty of examples of teams that have had great luck and all the right factors aligned, and they still failed to take advantage of any of their golden opportunities.

Ron Borges has taken every shot he could take at the BB and the Pats every chance he could.

He never got over being wrong about the Bledsoe/Brady thing.

Same guy who got fired from the Globe for plagiarism....

Oh I see... He is wrong because his character is flawed. By this logic BB should never be listened to considering his personal and professional indiscretions.
    Got it, thanks for clarifying.
