http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...-brady-patriots-in-trouble-without-gronkowski In this article, the author posted how Tom Brady with Rob Gronkowski was playing at Aaron Rodgers' level, without him, he was at Andy Dalton's level. Now I don't agree with the Dalton comparison, but fans where going crazy in the comments saying that Brady is a better QB than Rodgers and its not even close, according to them. As a Jet fan, I don't like Tom Brady, but I give credit where it should be given, he's one of NFL history's best QBs. Now when it comes to Rodgers, I do think that he is the best QB in the NFL right now, and I think that if he continues to play at the level he is at now, barring injury, he will be in the talks for best QB in NFL history. Brady beats him in rings, but Aaron is only 29 years old. One thing I saw that fans posted was that Rodgers is nothing conpared to Brady when he was in his prime. To me, Rodgers' 2011 season was better than Brady's 2007 season, and many of Brady's fans fail to realize that Brady is playing at a very high level, higher than his first couple seasons, to me, Brady is in his prime. So what do you think? Is Rodgers better than Brady? Or is Brady that much better than Rodgers?
Brady played most of his career w/ average at best talent on O and he won a million games including 3 SBs. Right now Rodgers may be slightly better- very slightly but all time Brady has a significant edge.
Brady also has also had the benefit of a really good OL, with the exception being early last year. WRs don't really matter as long as they can catch, they will get plenty of opportunities.
Brady's career is a few years away from being over. Rodgers is in his prime. Rodgers is better than Brady now but I would take 2007 Brady over 2011 Rodgers still.
That's an excellent point/observation. Brady has been statistically better in the past three seasons (2010-2012) than he was in any three-year stretch of the earlier parts of his career. Right now they're very close, but you've got to give Rodgers a slight edge if you're comparing them head-to-head. He's more mobile and can make some plays with his feet that Brady can't make. I'm interested, though, to see if Rodgers and GB make up for some disappointing playoff losses these past couple of seasons. If you look at the entire body-of-work over the course of a career, I don't think any current players, including Manning, measure up to Brady.
I see it this way. Rodgers is clearly the better player. Brady, is more successful. The Pats, have tailored their offense better to Brady.
If I could pick a guy to be on my team right now as they currently stand (i.e. their age and current play) it would be Rodgers. If we're operating in a fantasy world where you can pick either player in their prime and we're talking history of the game I go with Brady. That being said, things could change between now and when Rodgers is Brady's age, he could prove to be the better lifetime achievement kind of guy. As of today though Brady's legacy of play > Rodger's legacy of play.
Weis, made that offense. The Pats were smart to not change it, excepting brining in Randy Moss, Its the one thing, smart teams do. Institutionalize knowledge. The St.Louis cardinals have a book, thats survived for decades, of the brand of baseball they play. Hence, they keep getting back to the big one. If the Steelers were smart, they'd be creating a a Dick Le Beau book, and the Jets a ryan book. It also narrows down the HC candidates. Beli, can do wonders, like Rex...with shit on defense, though, I think his ego has pushed him to embrace the offense while leaving his true talent in the film room.
All things being equal...OC,Talent. I would take Rogers, without even thinking about it, and I hate that prima donna scumbag.
brady is way better when you consider career and everything, but brady is closer to the end than rodgers is to even having a full legacy yet so only time will tell im not sure what the stats say but does rodgers even put up better numbers? theyre probably pretty close, i dunno, i dont think its fair to rodgers really yet. hes still in his 20s. hes got quite a few years to go at qb...
What has Charlie Weis ever done w/o Brady? got playcalling stripped w/ us and was a failure at ND and now Kansas. Brady made belichick, Weis and the Patriots. The Cardinals made the WS in 1987, their next app was 2004. They have only been to 3 since 1988- what book is it that they have? it's not working. Belichick is a complete failure w/o Tom Brady.
Please Junc. You call Schooty, a food OC...and look past? 4 SB wins, and taking the Jets to 4th overall.
Schotty never had Tom Brady and last I checked the Pats offensive #s exploded AFTER Weis left. he rode the coattails of Parcells to a title in 1990 and Brady to 3 in NE. How has he done w/o Brady as an OC or HC? How was it working out w/ Bledsoe in 2000 and early 2001?
How can you say way better? Yeah he's got more Super Bowls, but Aaron Rodgers is 28 years old, he's got plenty of time, and he's never had the defense that Brady has had in those SBs. I'm not saying that Rodgers is that much better than Brady, but I wouldn't say that Brady is "way" better than Rodgers.
well, if you keep reading i said only time will tell meaning that if both of their careers were to end brady has had more success for much longer, but rodgers is just really starting out, so i wouldnt be surprised if he surpasses brady or is at least very close to him.
Brady has had two careers. The Pats won their titles when the team was built around the defense, the kicker, and later on, a strong running game. Brady was not the focus of the team from 2001-2004 and was a very good QB. When the Pats built their team around Brady and the offense from 2007 on, the Pats have not won a championship. Brady had the benefit of a strong running game in the mid 2000s and has always had a top OL. Rodgers has never played on a team that had a defense as good as the Pats in the early 2000s and his OL has ranged from awful to average at best. Rodgers has never had a running game to speak of at all. This is why it is hard to compare players on different teams.
I think we'll get an idea of how good Rodgers is this year with no Greg Jennings and no Donald Driver. Is it a Brett Favre/Antonio Freeman situation where Favre made that guy or is it that Jennings is a star WR that bailed Rodgers out? I think it might be a little of both but it should be interesting in Packerland this year without both of those guys.
If I'm building a team for one season, this upcoming season only, I take Tom Brady over rodgers as my QB. Just have more history to show Brady will have a great season. If I'm building a team not just for this year, but basically starting a franchise, Rodgers. Rodgers is a great path though. If he keeps on putting up great years like his last two, high TDs/yards and low INTs/TOs it will be an incredible run.
