Not to deviate from the point but I would take my chance with a QB that produces year in year out over a bottom 5 QB.

Who is to say that we couldn't have done the things with either Rivers or Romo that we did with Sanchez.

Look at it this way, in easier divisions w/ more talent around them:

Rivers led team to playoffs 4 times in 7 seasons
Romo led team to playoffs 3 times in 7 seasons

At least a guy like Matt Ryan is a stat guy but gets his team to postseason every year, these guys aren't doing that. In 2010 w/ the #1 ranked D(since you guys like rankings) Rivers couldn't get SD to the playoffs in the weak AFC West.

I don't like stat guys that don't come through in January. I'd rather have a lesser #s guy that does come through.

Sanchez hasn't "come through" in the past 2 Decembers. I never viewed Sanchez as a "clutch" QB. Although he had his clutch moments (Texans 2010). The bottom line is that your chances of winning vastly improves with a better QB than with a bottom 5 QB. That's fact.

He struggled late in 2011 but our D had major breakdowns at that time too, last year I throw out. We didn't have the healthy talent to compete.

If we had 2010 talent we'd be in the playoffs every year and have chances for SBs. SD and Dallas have had better than 2010 NYJ talent most of the last 7-8 years and they have been much worse in January.

You are still talking about 2012? really?

2011, you could male the case, but 2012?

guy has one losing season. One.

    And under the worst circumstances.

So, you would also like Marty, 10 wins a year, one and done, Schottenheimer, as a head coach?

I've seen QBs play better and/or win games under worse circumstances. It's not like he was throwing passes on target anyway.

And 8-8 might be .500, but get real. Outside of the Sanchez excuse making world that's what we call a "losing season". If Tom Brady and the Pats go 8-8 this year you think people won't call it a losing season?

Now you are comparing him to the best QB of this generation? is that really fair?

Not really comparing him to anyone. 8-8 is a losing season with Bubby Brister at QB. I just used Tom Brady because he's a name. 8-8 is a shitty playoff less season, therefore losing season in any realm. It's not subjective or relative to anything.

8-8 isn't a losing season. teams have made the playoffs w/ 8-8 and 7-9 records the last few years. We once made the playoffs at 8-8.

Yes, that's called getting lucky from a losing season.

When you are 8-5 and finish 8-8 that's absolutely a losing season. Any idiot can recognize this. Unless that idiot is endlessly defending a bad QB

Now you talk about the defense ad nauseum. We are talking about the QB. You say he's big time but has struggled the past 2 seasons. He's hardly "clutch" as you like to say. Oh and if last season doesn't count for Sanchez then last season shouldn't count for Sparano too right?

2012 was the most recent season right? What else should I be talking about?

It's not a good season but it's not a losing season.

When did I say he was big time?

even last year when he was awful he had clutch moments such as the Miami game and leading us back at NE.

I don't think it's fair to judge Sparano on 2012 either, he could have done a better job but what chance did he have w/ the healthy talent we had?

Is that really something fratboys are saying these days? Wow material has gotten weak over the years.

I've yet to see you post anything about football ever, just knocking other posters..If that's going to be your schtick then at least be good at it, otherwise shut the fuck up.

most reports i've read indicate an even battle between the 2 qb's at this point.

i am excited to see how Smith performing in TC & preseason ... unless he dominates though i expect Sanchez to start the season ... odds are he'll take a beating (particularly weeks 5-9) as many young/new pieces come together ... then after Smith has a chance to have matured a little & seen what NFL life is all about bring him in for a taste of real action sometime from the bye week to the easier end of the season schedule
