This is EXACTLY many of our arguments for why Sanchez has failed. Yes Pop warner that any Competent Coordinator or QB coach would have caught and worked on !!! This is why Sanchez has not progressed because we had 2 of the dumbest, inexperienced twat rags "Coaching" him in Shotty and Cavanaugh!! Many of us have been trying to get you guys to see what we mean and now that a coach is actually working with him, Sanchez gets blamed for something all the coaching staff missed... nice.
Great. Maybe next they can teach him how to hand off to the running back. Sanchez wasn't kidding when he said he was gonna concentrate on the fundamentals. He should be a decent qb in about three years.
Guys....please. Sanchez has HUGE hands, its never been an issue for him. Like Hill, a projected first rounder, being able to you know.,,,catch. Sometimes fundamental flaws are over looked all the way to the NFL level, because a guy has talent. When did Tiki Barber, learn to carry a football? Heres a hint, Tee.,,it wasnt in Pop Warner.
Somehow I have a hard time believing that the past four years the coaching staff didnt emphasize keeping two hands on the ball, especially considering his tendency to not do so... If you and I can see it, Im sure even the worst NFL coach can too
When he had good talent he was very good, when he had mediocre talent he was decent, when he had awful talent he was awful. I'm fully confident in saying that things would be much different if we did what Bal did for Flacco or NYG did for Eli in bringing those guys new talent every year. It's a shame for the franchise what has happened the last couple of years, we had a young franchise QB and we ruined him. Romo & Rivers: combined 4-6 in postseason, lost 4 HOME playoff games w/ vastly superior talent to what Mark had to work with. I am not saying Dal or SD wins a championship w/ Mark but they would have had a better chance and I don't believe we make either title game w/ either of those 2 guys instead of Mark.
Well, he had several. Schotry,Cavanaugh,Sparano. Now...lets examine. Sparano wasnt an OC nor is he still. Cavanaugh, was not a QB coach, not sure where he is. SCHOTTY. A QB coach, so bad, he coached one of the best QBs in football, to a season so bad, his team spent a number one overall pick, on....a QB...... Hmmmmm..
Schottenheimer was Brees' QB coach and Brees credits brian with helping to develope him so that argument really doesn't work.
I've never taken credit away from Sanchez. You've got me confused with someone else. They are better QB's because they put up numbers year in and year out. Even when Sanchez had great players around him he still wasn't all that.
If those clearly better QB's lost all those games then what makes you think Sanchez would have done better?
At our peak in 2010 he never had great talent around him, it was very good but never great and nothing like those other 2 have on an annual basis. If we had Rivers or Romo here and we got to watch them every snap of every year we'd see "Rivers Sucks" or "Romo Sucks" threads just like this one.
He didn't make big mistakes and force things like those other 2 have in postseason. Rivers has AT LEAST 1 INT in every postseason game he has played(7 games), he's only had more TDs than INTs 2 times and one of those times 2 of his 3 TDs came in garbage time. Romo has ONE postseason win, a home game against a mediocre Philly team. The next week at Minny he led his high powered offense to 3 pts, the fewest pts Mark has ever led his O to in a postseason game was 17. W/ better QB play SD could have won all 4 of the games they lost in postseason w/ Rivers and Dallas could have won 2 of the 3 they lost and should have won 2 of the 3 they lost w/ better QB play- w/ QB play like Mark gave us in postseason.
How about one that was let go. Steve Young. From Tampa Bay, no less. A team that held on to Vinny Testaverde, Turnovers. While detrimental, do not each tell a story of theor own. Take Tennesee. Teo of the 4 picks were throws to Cumberland...why? Because he was fhe only pass catcher on the field. (2012, is not a year you can judge QBing, but, turnovers are also a dunction of what the QB is asked to do with the ball, its not a difficult point)
Because....,he did? He made big plays in Foxboro, and Indy to win those games, in situations where Rivers, and Romo always come up short. You can hem and haw all you like..lbut, thats a fact, and ifyou are a Jets fan, youve seen The GREAT Philip Rivers, get his ass beat everytime he faced theJets in the playoffs. Romo? Another product of ESPN overhype. Guy is worse in crunch time than Marty Schottenheimer.
Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery, Keller and a rejuvenated LT. Formed a great group of offensive skill players around him. That and the top oline he had. If we had Rivers or Romo they wouldn't have been bottom 3rd QB's. Nor would they buttfumble nor would they have drafted Geno. If a QB is playing like shit after 4 seasons then rightfully so he should be called on it. Sanchez played like shit as a rookie but he got a pass because it was his first year. But year 4 you expect drastic improvement. Right because they ask those QB's to do more than what Sanchez was asked to do. Look how Sanchez performed when they allowed him to throw more. They had to go back to minimizing Sanchez pass attempts last season. All I know is that it's illogical to convince anybody that a team would be better with a worse QB. That makes no sense.
Ill give you the Pats game but in Indy? No way. The run game carried the offense that day. Regardless of whether Romo is all hype or not Romo puts up numbers. Btw we only played Rivers once in the postseason.
Rivers and Romo are only good when there's nothing on the line. They come up clutch when there are no possible bad implications that will stem from it. And when it's crunch time, and their teams need them to play big, they fall flat. I do not like Sanchez. I do not forsee some incredible comeback story coming for him. But I will give credit where credit is due, and acknowledge that he was quite good in the playoff runs... But this is now. And the numbers (unfortunately) DO NOT lie. You can make the argument that he had a bad OC and bad WR's, but the fact is, he has been just awful the past two seaons. Just as you can't place full blame on him for the poor seasons, you can't place full blame on the WR's and Sparano/Schotty for his countless turnovers, underthrown balls, overthrown balls, and just overall poor leadership. You Sanchez defenders treat him as if he is your offspring or something, and will pull out just about any excuse you can find. So sure, let Mark start the season. Let Geno sit on the sideline and absorb the game in real time. Geno is a competitor, he is a student of the game, his desire to win football games takes prescedance over everything else he does in life. Give him the time to develop within the system, and he has the chance to be FAR AND BEYOND BETTER than anything that Sanchez ever was, and ever will be. Just give him time. Peace
Indy, really? I seem to remember a clutch pass down the right sideline to Edwards, to win that game. Yeah, rivers once in the playoffs. But...somehow the Dolts are always favored. Like here. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-01-13-jets-chargers-preview_N.htm
Rejuvenated for a month LT and Rivers had LT in his prime when he was GREAT. He had a good group in 2010 but not great. What did Edwards do w/o sanchez the next 2 years? Cotch is a bit player in Pitt, LT retired, Keller a good TE. You know WAYNE HUNTER started 2 of our playoff games? Rivers w/ much better talent and a weaker division has struggled the last couple of years. His #s may be better but he's still not winning w/ more talent and less competition. No, those QBs feel like they have to press and do more, w/ the talent they had they just needed to avoid the big mistakes and make some plays which they couldn't do. he was terrible in the 1st half and the run game carried u much of the 2nd BUT he made BIG plays in the pass game including leading us to the GW Fg at the gun.
