Is Ecaudor going to get in? Looking like they are in good shape. Seattle was rocking, they drew 53K for a Sounders game last week. The only reason they didn't sell more tickets was because the Mariners were playing right next door and there would have been an issue with traffic. US Soccer needs to invest some money into Seattle getting a soccer only facility and turn that place into our Azteca. I would imagine most CONCACAF teams would struggle on a cold wet March night in qualifying. It also has opne of the lowest Latino/Hispanic populations of any major US city so unlike say New York or Dallas there won't be large groups of people showing up to root against the US.

3 spots were booked today... Iran beats South Korea in Ulsan which is a huge upset to qualify Australia beats Iraq 1-0 to qualify South Korea by virtue of goal differential get through over Uzbekistan by 1 freaking goal. Uzbekistan crushed Qatar 5-1. Had Korea tied on won Uzbekistan would have qualified for their 1st ever World Cup. The Uzbeks had some chances to get it to 6 but some great saves and missed shots denied them. As it is they will now have to play in a double playoff. They will have a 2 game playoff with either Jordan/Oman and then the 5th place S. American team so they will not likely make it to Brazil 2014.
A win would mean the US would only need to likely get 3 points in their next 5 games. With home games with Mexico and Jamaica that seems like a very real possibility. I'd like to get qualified and not have it come down to the going to Panama.
USA full back Eric Lichaj is about to sign for the greatest team in the world, apparently. We have a good track record with US players, John Harkes was very good when he played on loan for us and a few years ago Ben "Beninho" Olsen became a huge crowd favourite when we had him on loan from DC for a few months.

But even worst case scenario, they finish 5th and would have a playoff ( I think?) with the 5th place Asia team. And thats a gauranteed win, so Ecuador is in Congrats to the Socceroos, Satan but those Asia groups are horrendous.
