Geno seems to be good at brushing off the media attention pretty well so far. Lets see how he does during the season.

I think Rex is fully motivated and hoping Geno plays well so he can give him the starting nod.

If he wants to be the Jets HC for 20 years he'd better be ready to drop Sanchez like a hot potato.

Good coaches don't let bad players sink them. Great coaches can spot a bad player before he ever gets on the field.

What I like most about Geno, is that even though he is a high draft pick , he isn't coming in here acting like he is the shit. Dude is humble, and acknowledges that he is going to have to bust his ass if he wants that starting job. He know's it won't be handed to him and is willing to put in the time and effort that is needed to be successful. Granted this is only what I take from his interviews, but so far, he has really impressed me. I am looking forward to seeing how much he progress from OTA's to training camp/preseason.

While OTAs and TC and everything are all well and good I want to see how he does in a pre-season game. I know you can't put too much stock in that either as you'll have bits and pieces playing on both ends of the field, just want to get a better idea of his vision, how he moves in the pocket against an actual threat, decision making, etc.

First preseason game is 10 weeks from today. That's pretty far away but at least we have mini camp and training camp and whatnot to break it up a little bit.

The infraction wouldn't be on Smith it would be on the agents. There's no rule that prevents players from meeting with whomever they want to. The rule prevents agents from using non-agents to recruit.

I know.Ii read the rule, it also seemed to indicate that it covered a different class of player...particularly pre drafted players....not drafted, but pre-signed players.

Runners were used to get around campus recruiting. Once drafted the Player is a Professsional, signed or not.

I just thought about this. Which past rookie season do you see Geno realistically mirroring if he were to be the starter?

I can see him having a Ryan Tannehill type season.

As a Dolphin fan living in Louisville, I'm just glad the jets went qb this year instead of waiting for a player I'd be legitimately frightened of: Teddy Bridgewater. Now that's a kid who can throw. I guess I'm still a bit worried that Smith will epically bomb and the 3-13 Jets will have a chance to draft him next year, but I think your team can win about 5 games so that shouldn't happen.

Smith isnt going to be under center barring injury.. Bridgewater is a dolphin in 2014.

Remember, the Jets had an OC that is no longer an OC, and massive injuries, won 6.

You guys imported Fannyhills college offense, and stayed healthy..,and eked out 7?

The only people that should be afraid of Tannehill (the second coming of the great Chad Henne), are Dolphin Fans.

Sit a year waiting for a player who you might not get and might not even play at the same level next season or might be subject to adverse circumstance like injury... in other words gambling on the future and going into the year with a mentality of giving up instead one where you want to win regardless of what your situation is.

Yeah, no. you go for what you have NOW. Smith was the best rated QB and fell into our laps at a great value pick. he may well start this season, he might do it late but something tells me you won't be so happy that he's on our team soon enough.

Take a page from Seattle and Washington

Emphasize the run game, simplify the play book early. Add wrinkles each week to keep upcoming opponents off balance. Dominate on defense and special teams.

Or let Sanchez think he's resurrected his career and watch fans boo every week and continue to be the laughing stock of the NFL

You already know week 2 will be buttfumble this buttfumble that

that last part isn't true! There will be copious amounts of Tebow talk as well! :breakdance:

If Smith wins this is defiantly how they're going to play it. they have a shiny new RB to play with, and hopefully a good catching backfield to help unload some of the pressure too. (he'll be good from behind the LOS)

Sanchez wins and... well honestly probably the same with a bit more aggressive deep balling early on. (he's a veteran he can handle it right?)

I wouldn't imagine they'd be much more confident in him as they would be with Smith. (a little but not much.)

Smith has no track record he can only really go up, Sanchez has accuracy issues, ball security issues, continuously makes mental mistakes

Having Geno watch him would be conversations like "never do that" "don't make the read" "don't double pump into an interception" "that's your guards ass"

If this season truly is a wash then let Geno learn on the fly, nothing like hands on activity to get a grip of the NFL

Bridgewater is not going to be a Dolphin because the Dolphins are not going to be a bad team. They should have won their first game against us if they had a competent kicker, so 8-8.

Geno will start and your boyfriend will sit.

Let me say it again. In English.

Geno, is still...learning to take snaps from under center, at this level.

Over expecting the man, is disrespecting the man.

And the Phins...please. They will be lucky to not finish behind Buffalo this season.

In fact, they'll be lucky to win one of their last 5.
