Ike, Carson and Mike Baxter all sent down. Approximately 1/6 of the roster demoted in 24 hours lmao.

Ike is hitting .161 with 5 HR's and 16 RBI's. They have to have something better somewhere in the minors better than that. They could probably get Keith out of the booth and do that.

Valdespin might be going down as well and maybe Rice.

Let's see them give some players who are performing at AAA chance. I would love to see Flores up here. But I don't think they'd do that.

Just saw it... Ike Baxter and Carson all optioned to Vegas. No word on who the replacements will be but these seem like the best candidates. Wheeler is not going to be one of them.

This is definitely a change for change sake, but it had to be done. Would have liked to see Wilmer Flores. Ike Davis refused to speak to the media. It would have been nice if he manned up.

Davis has turned into a real disappointment, and I don't just mean as a hitter. He might be one of those guys who is just not cut out for New York. No doubt the Mets will dump him for garbage and he will turn into a perennial .280/35/100 guy, because that's just the kind of thing that happens to the Mets.

Mets 3rd worst in MLB right now. They usually wait until July to tank the season but this one is cooked early

They have to spend next year.. If I see Turner platooning 2b and RF next year I may puke....Line up for rest of season should be

    Quintilla
    Valdespin
    Murphy
    Wright
    Duda
    Satin
    Lagares
    Buck til DArnaud is fit

Trade Marcum, Byrd, Turner for whatever we can get

I want to see youth not over the hill journeymen... I can live with growing pains not sheer apathy

Well I've gotten the confirmation that tonight will be Wheeler's last start in AAA and will get called up next week to start against Atlanta. I'm going to head out to Cashman because it will probably be the last chance I'll have to see him pitch in the minors.

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/sources-mets-assure-terry-collins-his-job-safe-1.5471493

Apparently the Mets have assured Collins that his job is safe for the year. They are also supposedly unhappy that Backman guaranteed he could fix Davis after the Mets failed so dismally at it. I personally have my doubts that he is fixable, but this is classic Wilpon - it's much more important to somehow "look" good than to actually be good.

It's hard to see the slightest reason to ever watch this team on days Harvey and Wheeler are not pitching.

the plan is to have Harvey and Wheeler pitch a doubleheader, but the weather may not cooperate.

Harvey: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 ER, and a loss. Wright, Byrd, and Buck were 7-for-12, and the rest of the team was 0-for-22.

I take it back - it's not really all that much fun watching the Mets even when Harvey is pitching.

they cited some obscure stat today. Only X (I can't remember the number, I think it was 8-15) pitchers have had a stretch of eight starts where 7 of them were no decisions. Harvey had the lowest ERA during that stretch.

Matt Harvey's career record: 8-6 in 24 starts. 10 no decisions, despite going deep consistently.

Meanwhile, guys like Phil Hughes and Chien-Ming Wang have outstanding records, but some people continue to pretend that win/loss record is an important stat for a pitcher.

Harvey is the new Santana, in 2008 Santana from June 1 on

    He pitched 160 1/3 innings
    Gave up 38 Earned Runs
    K'd 141 batters
    Walked 82
    Wins 9
    Losses 4
    ND 9

I'm sure Jeff can come up with some ridiculous stat to say how he was by far and away the best pitcher in baseball from June 1 on that year but how an inept Mets offense cost him wins and probably a Cy Young.

Better get used to it with Harvey because this is a sign of things to come

Wheeler pitched well, gave up 1 ER in 5 2/3 threw 85 pitches, most high 90's strikes. Of course in Mets fashion the other pitcher shut down their lineup. Ike still stinks.

Our ability to get on base is pathetic , we are incapable of stealing or generating extra bases once on base...it all starts with a lack of a reliable lead off man with some base speed...fact this was over looked and is still neglected is a pathetic lack of roster management...

    The future is bright....

    Wheeler leaves down 1-0 after 5 2/3rds. 51s lose 11-0.
