This is a good news bad news report. Good news Sanchez is winning the QB battle. Bad news Sanchez sucks. This is no different than last year when Rex told everyone that Sanchez gave us the best chance to win. He wasn't lying. Competition at the QB position hasn't been the Jets problem. It's who's competing.

Geno Smith is a rookie. The Jet's offense is both new to the team and new to him. Having him not shine immediately in it is no surprise at all. Mark Sanchez played in a WCO at USC. He has 4 years on the job already. Having him not shine early on is just a reminder to everybody including the Jets that he's not a particularly good QB. It'll be interesting to see how this goes. If Sanchez starts then the odds are that he and Rex's fates are tied together. Either both will succeed this year or both will be gone at the end of it. If Geno Smith starts the Jets are in a rebuilding year with unknown prospects. If Mark Sanchez starts they're in year 5 of the Rex era and the direction the team takes this year will either extend that era or end it.

Sanchez aka the OTA/mini camp/training camp superstar. I take all this with a grain of salt. Lets see him play against real competition.
