Sorry if this was posted, and I can't find a written article. This video from today, seems to clearly suggest that Sanchez is separating himself from Smith. Thoughts? http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=9375225
June 1st he was suppose to get cut! Didn't Mark play with the 2s today anyway? Geno was with the ones all day...
The video was an overreaction after yesterdays practice where Sanchez took all first team snaps. But then today Geno took all first team reps today. But yeah, Sanchez is clearly the starter... The media didnt wait to long to jump all over this...
If Sanchez pulls off the impossible I can think of no fewer than 8 TGG members that should be banned for life, never to be heard from again.
I'm cheering them both on .. it does make it different knowing Sanchez started with the 2nd stringers today..
I'm no Sanchez apologist. What bad can you say about a guy who's demonstrating that he wants to separate himself from the competition, that he WANTS to grasp this offense and SUCCEED at the QB position for the N.Y. Jets. I think we have to ask ourselves; Do we want Sanchez to have success/fall, or do we want the JETS to succeed/fall...
The impossible? It would surprise me if he wasn't the starter. He's a fifth year, 1st round qb who's played in over 60 NFL games. If he can't beat out Smith, then he doesn't deserve the starter job. I'm glad to hear he's taken the bull by the horns. Says a lot about his mental attitude. I can't take any more mopey interviews. Now lose the skinny headband, Sancho.
Honestly, I like the headband. I would never wear it personally, but I like it in the sense that Sanchez is acting like, "Yeah, I wear a headband. So the fuck what?" He needs to just have a "Screw all the nonsense around me, I'm going to do what I want to do, and I'm going to play well, and if you don't like it, well, tough." I just hope that one of the quarterbacks plays well enough to actually earn the job. Don't want both to suck and have Sanchez win the job by default.
Sanchez did look impressive on the tape, maybe he will be the starter for an intramural flag football team.
Good, Chris Mortenson said the same thing last offseason in August saying Sanchez was throwing the ball better than ever and with more zip. It didn't translate to the season unfortunately. Obviously, this is still a good sign as foundations for being a good QB gets built in the offseason. Let's hope it translates.
The optimist in me is desperately hoping this is where he finally takes the next step But we all know where this goes from here
I have too few posts to start a new thread--but this is an interesting read about Holmes backing Sanchez. I'm sure a few rocket scientists here know better than Holmes though. Seeing as how they are pro athletes and NFL wide receivers and are on the field with the team. As opposed to Holmes. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...rk-sanchez-new-york-jets-starting-quarterback FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It was a trick play at New York Jets minicamp -- nothing serious. But from the sideline, Santonio Holmes thought Antonio Cromartie got too close to quarterback Mark Sanchez, who slipped on the play. Holmes responded by laying into Cromartie in the middle of the Jets' second practice of the mandatory minicamp. As it turns out, Holmes has Sanchez's back in more ways than one. The wide receiver, who has been sidelined with a Lisfranc injury since last season, said he believes Sanchez will be the Jets' starting quarterback on Day 1, despite the open competition involving rookie Geno Smith. "[Sanchez is] going to be our guy," Holmes said Wednesday. "Coaches brought him back and they kept him on this team for a reason. He's a great leader and he's got great potential and he's excited about this season upcoming, and so am I." Whether Holmes will be ready for the start of the season remains uncertain. Holmes replied, "No comments," when asked whether he expects to play in Week 1. Holmes, who said he needed to learn to walk all over again, characterized his rehab as progressing, but that it is limited to working out -- no running or cutting just yet. He pedaled the stationary bike briskly Wednesday. Holmes was clear that he expects to get back to top form, he just doesn't have a timeline. And when he does return, he expects Sanchez to be under center. "I signed back because of him, so nothing's changed," Holmes said. It was just two seasons ago that a frustrated Holmes stormed off the field in the Jets' last game of the season. He and Sanchez needed relationship rehab that offseason, getting together one-on-one just to clear the air. It must have worked, because Holmes has been a vocal supporter of Sanchez even though the quarterback has faced criticism for turnovers the past two seasons. "I think everybody believes in him," Holmes said "He wouldn't be here if anybody didn't believe in him. He's still wearing the same No. 6 jersey that he wore since the day he got drafted here, and I think the organization and even the team love him and we're going to continue supporting him." So what did Cromartie think of Holmes' reaction at practice? The cornerback reflected that it must be hard for Holmes to be on the sideline for so long, but then he cracked: "Somebody's gotta have some fire on that side of the ball." _
What do tweets about the Kardashians have to do with the Jets? And why do you follow them? There are NO tweets that discount this report. _
