This is actually the first I've heard of "jets west" this year. Why would Sanchez invite Smith if he was hosting Jets west? Are they even doing it this year? Maybe the jets asked him not to. Maybe its the firsst smith heard of it? Hell ... maybe the jets told Smith to answer that question that way. It's a pretty safe answer even though it will be over analyzed and critiqued to the 9.
It's not about Sanchez or Smith specifically, It's about either of them being able to build chemistry and be a successful QB in the NFL with the current roster or WRs. I'm curious to know which ego is causing the problem here. I would assume Sanchez invited Geno since he invited that other guy last season. Would be telling if Geno is ignoring / boycotting the camp for some reason.
"No Comment" isn't a safe answer at all. Specially to the NY Media and they should know that at this point. "Safe" answer would be for Geno to respond with "I'm going to do anything I can to make myself ready to be the starter of this football team" As I stated above, Sanchez invited Tebow last season and has always extended an invitation to all the QBs in camp AFAIK. I'm fairly certain they are having it as I've read they decided to make it closed to the media this year.

Jets West would be a bad idea this year. No point in sowing greater confusion in the ranks than currently exists.
Jets West was a team-building exercise led by the Jets starting QB. Right now the Jets don't have a clear-cut starting QB. Having anybody run their own little mini-camp in that reality is as likely to be team-busting as team-building.
Maybe they are having it, but one thing to note is that article was from prior to the draft. I think it would be in the Jets best interest to tell Sanchez not to have this in 2013 and hopefully they have. It would be a slap in Geno's face even if he was invited. And I'm sure there are guys in the locker room who would prefer Geno and wouldn't want to attend.
It's a good response because it sounds like Geno wasn't invited, or the invitation is "in the mail". This is ehy I hated Garrard's injury.
Who knows if this is something to read into or not, but regardless I could careless if him and Sanchez have a good relationship. I hope they hate each other's guts, it's good for competition. All this nanny-panny B.S. in last year's "competition" didn't do anyone any favors. Get it out in the open "I'm not here to like you. I want your job. It's ON." should be the mantra. That way there's nothing to hide and both players will bust their asses for the job.
