we could always lure Mangini, Costlet, Kotite, Walton back...Think about it. Rex is the best HC we have had since....well Tuna. But Rex wants to be here for his career, and I believe Woody wants Rex here as long as he owns the Jets too. He gets extended this time next year barring a 3-13 season
If Rex is let go he will go to NE as Bellishit's DC guaranteeing the Jets won't win the division for another 20 years and then when Belli retires Ryan will be named as his replacement.
Honestly... I know rex has made mistakes but he is better than mangina. And without his defensive mind you can erase those 2 afc championship visits. Rex is the TRUTH . You don't fire a head coach after 2 bad seasons you get him learn and strive like a player would. Alot of coachs got fired from their first job and turned around to be great... Example; Clev. Browns and Bill Belidouch
None...they are both not forward thinking enough for this new NFL era. I want to give Rex the chance to grow with a good OC to show him the offensive side of things. Defensively he is tops and that's what we need
I like Rex a lot but I think extending him now would be premature. He needs to show growth as a HC, especially in terms of having a competent offense. The NFL is too heavily focused on offense to keep a guy around as a HC if he isn't going to properly nurture that side of the ball to the point of being a detriment. It starts with choosing competent coaching on that side of the ball and finding a competent QB. I don't know if we have have that yet but he has to at least show improvement on that side of the ball if he wants to continue being a head coach. The buck stops at Rex.
If we fire Rex, we'll be set back for quite some time (3-4 years). A lot of the players he recruited are tailored to only his defense. If some of you want that, that's fine. That being said, extending him now is premature. We have to see how he coaches with his job most likely on the line.
I understand in the NFL that change is going to happen,, Players change teams and coaches move around,, But for once lets try to keep things the same for a while. I truly believe that Rex can get this job done.. All those calling for his head have no idea what is out there ( Grass is always greener ) and if we let him go we will all be sorry we did. JMO
I'm on board with an extension. Give the man another three years if half way through the year we are competitive. If we can put a competitive team on the field I think he's done. I know the schedule is tough but hey, that''s life.
This. I'm shocked that anyone would even suggest giving Ryan an extension off back to back dismal years and a circus atmosphere that he never controlled. Let Ryan coach this team back to respectability this year before any extension talk. He's firmly on the hot seat if the team tanks this year and he should be.
Extending him seems to be jumping the gun. I think he can coach out the final 2 years of his contract unless something goes drastically wrong. To extend him now would be similar to the extension we gave Sanchez, too early. No need to rush into the decision, he will be under contract for the next two years. If this team looks like it's headed in the right direction with him, resign/extend him. If it doesn't, let him walk.
He didn't have mediocre players on defense in 09 and 10. A lot of those come-from-behind wins in 2010 were against bottom-feeders, too. Let Rex have one more chance this year (we don't have a choice, right?). Hopefully the lessons he's learned these last two years will translate to victories on the field. If he wins this year with this roster, he'll have proven himself as a coach.
You are about to find out. The haters will freak, but if Mornhinweg does what hes supposed to, thats where we are.
The only reason I considered this is because I thought it was his last of his contract and if we lose this season and gets an extension it will be thought of as a terrible decision much like Sanchez. I would have liked a preemptive strike and not allow that to happen. However I do not believe this year should be the measuring stick of his career. We must have competent GM put the roster together that will excel and then we should judge him. Last time Rex had a competent team he succeeded, the talent simply has not been up to par these last few years. If the team is even mediocre this year he deserves an extension, if they are terrible he deserves at least a fair shot with upgraded talent next year to coach for his job and should not be fired.
Yes, you can expect to eliminate half the fumbles, and a third of the INTs, that, with a younger faster defense, should yield the results we have all been waiting for. MM routinely fields a top tier offense.... Coupled with a top tier defense, good things should happen. Simply put, the difference between Sanchez shitty completion percentage, and a respectable percentage, north of 60 percent, is two completions a game. I say Marty gets him more. Also, this is the first time theyve had a coordinator that gets stretching the field HORIZONTALLY, than using the backs and Vertical plays. schotty, and Spermbreath Sparano, were old school run inside, pass outside guys...very few quick hitters, and designed inside timing routes. Schotty thought he was being innovative by using 9 zillion motions and groupings, instead of 'one read, and deliver'. Coaches like that are dinosaurs, because of the evolution of the college game.
Hobbes you must have some great meds or a great hydroponic system setup. Which is it that gives you these visions you have of a player that I have never seen? Just Curious
So you hate Rex AND Sanchez? I am so glad I am not such a miserable fan, person, whatever. Life must suck going through it with such malice. _
Thats assuming literally everything goes right. Honestly an improved offense is a given, but with a rather mediocre squad I don't think we can expect top 10 production. Curb your expectations of what he brings to table there pal. We'll do alright and find some good contributors, but not everything will go well. We simply don't have the experienced talent to be top 10.
