would this situation give me leverage to get out of my contract without paying the fine? This seems like a serious breach of customer privacy(not that i dont think the other carriers do this). I do think that this will start to wake some people up to what is going on if they can finally relate this shit to some other things that go on.

Probably not. It's not like they sold your info to a telemarketer. It was ordered by the government.

And you'll likely just switch to a provider that is doing the same thing.

This is exactly right. When the Patriot Act passed the terrorists won a big battle. A few more things like that and they'll have won the war by making our system of civil and ultimately political liberty crumble under the weight of a few fanatics hiding in caves.

I find myself in agreement with almost everything Rand Paul says ... I'm hoping he runs in 16 and remains true to his words if he wins. Winning the election would probably be the easier of those two things.

I think sadly Paul wouldn't get past the primaries for two reasons, the religious whackos won't get behind him and the other candidates will paint him to be a chip off the old block and scare the people who are on the fence into not supporting him.

I like him but I don't see it happening.

Waging a "War on Terror" and then proposing the Patriot Act was the win for the US Government on the war they have waged on their own people.

"Terrorist". It's such a broad term. It can pretty much be assigned to anyone that commits a criminal act that results in multiple deaths in this country, from someone that is not technically American, and many people from this country that commit a heinous enough crime.

Which means that the war can never really end. And war is a profitable commodity for a government that has buried itself in a debt that will never realistically be paid off.

Some day you will ask yourself why you have wasted so much of your time arguing for and against the characters in Real World: Washington D.C. Edition.

Party politics is a distraction. It has been since the Kennedys were exterminated.

Government has always been about population control. The internet threw a wrench into that, because, while the government sold off the infrastructure that resulted in the internet to make up for debts in the 90's, they realized it reached a level that they could not control, because of lack of foresight of the ability of the population.

Many countermeasures are in place, Patriot Act and the Office of Homeland Security in the forefront.

Neither of which have very clearly defined boundaries.

But there is a nice, neat and clean PR firm in charge of making them look like the good guys.

Hey kids! We caught the Boston Bombers by recording your every move! Don't you feel safe????

Government is the new God, and the internet is the new Tower of Babel.

    Just sayin'.

Which is exactly why SOPA/PIPA were never about "protecting business" but more ways to spy on you and I. Our government doesn't exist to protect it's citizens. It only exists to protect the interests of a few.

    Oh really...

Our military and our welfare system seem to have done just an uncountable number of times throughout our history...

I'll give you another reason. Anyone who thinks government is bad like Paul but thinks the military should be the largest part of it is out of his fucking mind.

If you really want to patronize a wingnut do it with the grand-daddy of them all: http://buchanan.org/blog/

About half his ideas are on target and half are insane, that's a ratio that puts people like the Pauls to shame.

I don't know a lot about this but I do know that Rand Paul believes in smaller government. I haven't read what he has to say about the military being the largest part of the government but my guess is that is directly related to the idea that the government is extremely bloated and needs to have a lot of fat trimmed.

Anyone who thinks our government isn't bloated and corrupt is out of his fucking mind IMHO.

Pick the cuts you would make though.

Our national infrastructure is a disgrace at this point with bridges falling into rivers and buildings collapsing. Need to spend more there not less.

Social Security and Medicare are supposed to be paying for themselves but the government has been stealing from the trust fund to cover other things for a generation now. Can't cut there, we need to put back what we robbed from the lockbox instead.

The Military is an obvious target but how much do you want to cut and what capacities do you want to give up?

Our national subsidy programs for everything from corn we don't need to gasoline that we do are going to have to be cut but who do you screw? Do you screw people buying gas at the new price of $6 a gallon or do you screw the oil companies by capping their profits with rigid price controls? Do you screw big agribusiness and watch Captain Crunch go to $8 a box?

Seriously, nobody who talks about cutting big government is worth listening too until they detail who they plan to screw. Once they do that then they have openers in the discussion.

I am not smart enough to figure that out. I know Paul has detailed a plan on that. Personally, I just like the idea that one of these fuck head politicians see's the issue and wants to address it.

"We don't have a spending problem." isn't what I want to hear. Maybe we can start by spending less money spying on American citizens, supporting countries that burn our flag and DHS buying up ammo enough for a 10 year war.

Or instead of allowing generations of families to abuse welfare programs. We can also start dealing with the illegal immigration problem. Here is one for you, in Nevada they have no made it legal for illegals to get a "driving certificate" . Example... illegal walks into DMV and wants to get a drivers license. He instead of getting arrested and deported pays for a "driving certificate". We have a republican governor whom I voted for and he signed this into effect. I would suggest looking it up.... unreal.

What's the problem? They left the country when jobs dried up and are coming back now that jobs are coming back. Seems like our government policy is working exactly as it should.
