I don't post a lot, as I'm not a"x's and o's aficionado. I stumbled upon an old treasure tonight. I just finished watching my dusty copy of the History of The New York Jets DVD. As I watched I began to remember why I believed in the NYJ's. The Steve Sabol production emphasized how this franchise was born in poverty, as the NY Titans. It went on to celebrate the years of Joe Namath, Ken O'Brien, Vinny Testaverde and on into Chad Pennington years. It showed how this team has yielded a group of fans that simply wont fade. As we fans that have suffered heartbreak, have withstood the suffering that this franchise has gone through, It occurred to me that we complain bitterly today about front office moves, player personnel, and the lack of any one player who dominates the game. I thought to myself, that it's not about any of that. It's about the effort, the grit, the determination as well as the totality of the body of work, that these New York Jets have created. I'm a bit of a sentimentalist, but I won't apologize for that. As the season commences, I will take what we are given. If we play well I will rejoice. If it's a losing campaign, then I'll revel in a victory that comes all to far and few between. I'll continue to tell my co workers, after they taunt me over a poor game, that "I bleed green". And I'll hold to what happened as I watched this video; My 4 y/o daughter who looked at me and said, Daddy; I love you. And if you love the New York Jets, I do too. That's how I feel, I'm just sayin...
If you bleed green, you should probably seek a doctor. I kid, I kid. Great post. There is certainly something charming about the New York Jets. It was between them and the boring Giants. I certainly am glad with the decision I made. Wouldn't change.
Hope springs eternal. One really never knows if and when things will turn around. Enjoy your daughter's company first and foremost. If you can get her to keep you company while you watch the Jets much the better. Here it is to all of us for a good season
It sorta is. It's us against the world. Even with the constant infighting of Sanchez vs Geno or homers vs darksiders, I just feel as though the Jets fanbase are one big family, if not slightly dysfunctional. It will be extremely satisfying when we win the Superbowl soon. I have a lot of Jet hater friends out there. Need to have some humble pie.
Green and White Makes my Turkish blood boil What else can I ask for? I love you Jets you son of a bitch. Give me a Superbowl for God's sake.
That's so weird. I had a similar thing happen while I was re-watching the Titan game from last year. My adorable little 4 y/o daughter looked at me and said, "Daddy, why the fuck is Sanchez still starting?"
Hahaha My 7 year old son said why the hell I am not a Giants fan like my brother? I said you love misery like your dad. Jets are something else. Being a Jets fan is like joining a brotherhood of misery... I love it personally. Give me more misery... Give me more Jets
i agree....! I may get REALLY mad at the Jets sometimes.... but i WILL NEVER..EVER leave this franchise for ANY OTHER team.. GO GANG GREEN !!! It wasn't ever about Revis It wasn't ever about Sanchez It 'wasn't ever about Woody..Rex.. It WAS about this TEAM.. the history makes us come back.. the magical seasons for 2009..2010.. have us back The exciting Defense has us coming back when we smash a patriots every time we smash a dolphin... every time we blow out the bills.. I LOVE THIS TEAM. And i'm 100% dedicated to this team for life.. no matter how much i get mad at them. Simple.
You can't enjoy a sunny day without some rainy days. We get plenty of rainy days so we'll really enjoy the sunny ones (I.e. winning a championship). I'm still a big believer that anything but a championship season is a failed season but that doesn't make me cheer for the Jets any less or want to abandon them. I'm a pretty loyal guy. I haven't even been a fan for that long so it would be easy for me to jump ship and cheer for someone else but I'll always stick by the Jets no matter what.
Holy shit, I remember those. They were really good, though they lingered afterwards if you know what I mean. I hate that they discontinued them
