Which was my point. Messier's ability as a player mean the square root of fuck all when you're assessing his abilities as a coach.
Well I mean if it works in Basketball, why can't it work in Hockey? Isiah Thomas & Michael Jordan were amazing players and just as amazing as....
I think that he might make a good one in time, but he has to serve his apprenticeship first. He has a job for life in Ottawa and if he wants to go into coaching there's no doubt that the Sens will find a place for the first player of the modern era to have his jersey in the rafters.
He was the Sens' best player in the post season. The question is whether he wants to - he's already said that the problem isn't playing, it's putting himself through the full training regime. I don't think he wants to finish his career playing ten minutes a night on the fourth line; I think that if we didn't have MacLean at the helm and the ridiculous young talent coming through he'd probably retire. As it is, we're a couple of players, some experience and a little bit more luck on the injury front away from being a genuine contender. I think he'll come back for one more year. The possibility of finishing his career lifting the Cup is just going to be too great, and I think that Murray will make whatever moves he can to try and make it happen.
I think you're right, the team is progressing well, the elusive Cup will probably lure him back, best thing about Alfie is he actually can still play at a high level, I personally hope he comes back..
I would imagine that the Sedins, Peter Forsberg and Nick Lidstrom are pretty much top of the list. Alfie won't go back to Sweden full time, at least for a few years. His boys are at school and play hockey in Ottawa; he lives in Sweden for a large part of the summer, and Ottawa for the other nine months of the year. The other consideration for him continuing to play is that he wants to captain Sweden in Sochi.
They won't hire a coach until they know for sure that Tippett isn't available. Knowing this franchise, when Tippett re-signs in Phoenix they'll settle on someone like Ruff or Maurice and the very next day the Flyers fire Laviolette.
Maloney is the Phoenix GM. Sather will know what's going on with Tippett well before his contract officially expires.
While we all know the Rangers faults..watching the Bruins manhandle the Penguins..which I totally f'ed up on..didnt see that coming...makes looking at what the Bruins did to us even more confusing. Gave the Bruins no credit at all while killing the Rangers...but to see them dominate, even in the OT win, is amazing. Just goes to show you even in this day and age, offense juggernauts bow to great defensive play most of the time. At the same time..loving it.
I imagine they will. For as good as the Pens can be, I don't think they have the guts to stage a comeback. I think Boston wins fairly comfortably.
87, they should be very demoralized after losing in ot, they are only delaying the inevitable, I agree they are done
I like Blysma. Before his goaltenders start playing like a steaming pile of turd people were praising the job he'd done this year. With Hank in net and what'd he could do to help guys like Nash, Kreider and Brassard I think he'd be a good fit.
