@ESPNStatsInfo: LeBron James scored or assisted on 25 of the Heat's 30 points in 3rd quarter

Paul George with a big 3 then HAnsboroguh with an offensive board and 2 points.

Spoelstra upset. Might need to sub Lebron back in. Wade's only thing going for him offensively is cutting off the ball right now.

Weren't you one of the people defending NBA referees from me a while back?

So... when the ratings go up, the rulebook goes out the window?

How does this differ from my argument that David Stern cares only about ratings?

You kids try to paint me as a market conspiracy guy, when I have spent a long time painting the picture that Stern will care about ratings and nothing else.

Throwing Guessman out the window, can you please explain to me why rules don't matter in crunch time in the NBA?

Tyler Hansbrough is questionable to return with a sprained right ankle, Pacers say.

What do you mean by defending? I'm pretty sure I've said NBA refereeing is bad but it's also very difficult to do. I think I've defended the position that the NBA refs (barring Joey Crawford) aren't the worst of the 4 major sports. I think UMPS and NFL refs are worse.

Same as every sport, the leagues don't want the refs to "decide" games late. It leaves a bad taste in the fans mouth. It's not just the NBA, every sport wants their refs to avoid it. That's why there is the idea of "playoff fouls" in basketball and "playoff penalties" in hockey.

If Stern cared about ratings how come the 2 NY and 2 LA teams, not one of them made the conference finals? How come IND had a higher FT advantage than NY in the final 3 games of the series than MIA had over DAL in the 06 finals last 3 game? If he cared about ratings, he's doing a terrible job. Lakers swept? Don't get to match up BK and LA? NY loses to IND while IND shoots 30 more free throws in game 6 instead of a game 7 in MSG? I mean he's a smart guy and he's missed a ton of things he can do to get better ratings.

I think what Lebron did was a foul by letter of the rulebook, but they have not called moving screens/illegal ones by the book since at least KG entered the league. It's a very tame illegal screen to call it on and for someone's 6th foul. I mean ratings wise, wouldn't you want to keep Lebron in the game, instead of fouling him out?

The refs are bad, and last game they were inconsistently bad where they called 2 late violations on MIA they rarely if ever call. Like I said before, I'll take consistently bad like letting everything by except blatant illegal screens and travels. That's why those two calls were odd.

Still waiting for that Kobe/LeBron finals.

NBA referees suck but that's different than saying the league rigs each game to get better ratings.

"us" as in the people in the thread other than yourself. In other words, the people reading your posts.

Basically I think there isn't a conspiracy because they have had so many opportunities to maximize ratings they have missed. I think the refs make bad calls because they are old, the rulebook is written poorly, and the players are too fast, strong, and explosive for them to call consistently and accurately. That's why they avoid calling things like screens/picks and travels and lane violatons. If they did, the game would be bogged so much. They have to pick what they want to focus on and they let other things slide unless very blatant.

Pretty easy to say now that the NBA seems bent on calling fair games.

Funny that you little guys are only up in arms right now.

I have to say, and I have said during these playoffs, it seems like they are bent on calling the game fair.

Maybe Stern doesn't want to go out with the headlines reading that he fixed the finals.

Must make the Stern groupies a bit out of sorts.

    Sadface.

my favorite one is the one I read every spring about how the NBA wants better ratings so the refs will make sure the series go seven games.

The vast majority of series do not go seven games. If Stern was rigging it, I'm sure he could make it happen more often than it has been.

WCF ended in a sweep, 2012 NBA finals ended in five games, Lakers swept out of the playoffs twice in three years.

There's 3-4 mintues left and everyone is acting like this game is decided. Maybe it is but it's weird to see

Up in arms now? How so? I'm saying the same things I said last playoffs. I can link if you can't remember.

What Stern groupies? Am I a groupie because I don't think the NBA is fixed? I don't think I've ever said anything positive about Stern; I just think the NBA isn't rigged. Simple.

Wait so you ask me what I think and then say I'm up in arms? You asked for a reply.

Oh so when the Spurs reach the finals the game is being called fair
They have done a better job in some areas but a terrible job in other areas. They have called big men a lot better and given them a lot more leeway. They have called perimeter defenders a lot more closer and gotten really inconsistent on what is a flagrant foul and technical foul is.

I don't think the conspiracy talk really bothers him. I mean he lets Joey Crawford ref, I think that in itself shows he doesn't take the conspiract theories or reffing complaints bother him. Joey Crawford is still reffing and considered one of the better refs each year in the league by the NBA.

That Lebron catch and go was eerily similar to his game winner in game 1

I wonder if Pop goes to hack a Lebron to get in his head. Lebron has been misfiring on free throws all playoffs long and is very streaky. If anyone would do it, it's Pop

Full of energy? I'm responding to your posts, same as I always respond to posts directed at me.

And what does that have to do with the discussion? We were talking about your opinion that everything is rigged for ratings.
