So the field conditions excuses the O for only score 3 points while giving up 7 in the first half? It excuses the O for chewing up 8:00 of clock down 14 in the 4th and coming away with 0 points? That is a huge reason why our O never had a chance to take the lead. They couldn't cut it to a 1 score game when given the opportunity earlier. Cutting it to 5 with less than 3:00 left in the game is too little too late.
Again, the Jets Offense ranked as high as the top 10 twice in the years 2005-2008, top 16 in one year and top 20 in the other. In other words a much better offense every single season than any season under Sanchez.
call it luck, the bottom line is the result. He lost one, we don't credit him for guys dropping TDs or for the 2 bogus INTs he had credited to him in the GB game. He does have ball security issues 100% w/o a doubt. That cannot be debated but he was a much different QB in 2012 than he was in 2010. I blame all units but the game was close, we had a chance and our supposed big time defense allowed an opponent to run out the clock. It doesn't matter how many pts they allowed, they allowed Pitt to get out to a big lead then when the game got close they allowed them to run out the clock. Nope but we got w/in a score and our D allowed Pitt to run out the clock. we had plenty of time and 3 TOs. SF got the chance t take the lead and did then after that their D stopped Atl AGAIN to preserve the lead. Our O didn't get a chance to take the lead.
Testaverde, You finally admitted it it is not all on the O of Sanchez. The ground and Pound or field position ball control type game skew the numbers in the defenses favor. This is type of offense is usually pretty hard on QB they usually only throw on passing downs and are asked to convert a lot of 3rd downs. For this type of offense to be successful you need a very good o-line very good RB. You ask your QB to make big throws but you the biggest thing is to not turn the ball over. This worked in 2010 until it didn't and then Sanchez more often than not bailed them out down the stretch. Sanchez looked so bad in this offense because the offense was flawed in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 we decided we did not need and o-line and that retread WR would be just fine. Our running backs were old and average. Sanchez committed the biggest flaw for this type of offense he turned the ball over. Sanchez is a Gun slinger at heart he is much closer to a Favre than say a Phil Simms. Favre became a HOF in the west coast offense after getting run out of Atlanta let see what Sanchez can do.
Favre wasnt run out of Atlanta...he was traded for the a first round draft pick (19th). And Sanchez is far from a gun slinger:rofl2:
When have I ever said the Sanchez is the ONLY problem on O? He is a very big part of the problem, even when you consider everything else. You guys seem like you want to blame everyone else besides Sanchez. I place blame where it belongs and a large part of it belongs on Sanchez. Under 3 minutes is not plenty of time when you need a TD to win and you don't even have the ball on O. Our O never had a chance to take the lead because they couldn't even cut it to a 1 score game when given the opportunities. You can't go 3 and out in the 3rd down 14 points. You can't hold the ball for 8 minutes down 14 points in the 4th and come away with 0 points. You can't score 3 points in the first half while giving the D 7. The O did more damage to the Jets the entire game than the D did in that 5 play drive at the end.
Call it luck? Dear lord I see the problem now...you don't believe in talent, you believe in rabbits feet. But even if it was still skill only losing one fumble it doesn't change the fact that over the past 4 years he's #2 in Actual Turnovers, and #1 on the list is only 1 turnover worse than Sanchez despite a lot worse luck on Fumbles over the past 4 years. You still don't get it do you? If the offense had been even halfway competent in the rest of the game the team wouldn't have needed a stop in the last 3 minutes to get the ball back. How about if Sanchez doesn't eat 8 minutes of the clock in the 4th quarter on a drive that he throw's 2 incomplete passes from the 2 yard line instead of seeing the play isn't there and running it in. Instead the Jets offense ate 8 minutes of the 4th quarter, got to the 2 yard line and your "Savior" Sanchez couldn't get the damned ball in to the endzone, result the defense HAS to stop the Steelers from even getting a first down to have a real shot at things. IN other words if your boy sanchez hadn't fumbled and given the Steelers a TD the Jets win, If your boy Sanchez is half the stud you claim him to be the jets score on 1st and 2 on the steelers 2 yard line and the JETS win. But no, you choose to blame the defense for not being able to bail Sanchez's ass out one more time instead of laying the blame where it belongs.
We scored w/ 3:09 to play, 3 mins is an eternity to play especially with 3 timeouts. The proof is in the results, why waste time talking about what may have happened? again, you guys don't talk about drops, bad routes, the bogus INts, etc... so why should we talk about fumbles that weren't lost? He has ONE less turnover than the "great" Eli Manning in the last 4 years w/ significantly less talent on O and in his first 4 years vs. years 6-9 for Eli. If the D was halfway competent we can say the same thing. Did NYG's D get kicked around in '07 or '11? SF's did for a while last year but when they needed to get their O the ball back they did, we failed. The D is the # 1 reason we lost, O would be #2.
Instead of being a little average fan whiner how about participating in the discussion? There's nothing worse than whiney fans that attack posters rather than participate. Instead of wasting time w/ posts like this, pay attention and learn so you don't have to deflect in future discussions.
Proof is in the results, glad your coming around. Jets Defense gave up 17 points. Jets offense had the ball on the 2 yard line and the chance to take the lead and the "Savior" choked.
Oh and on your Eli comparison...EPIC fail. Eli does turn the ball over yes, but he throws deep and takes chances deep and gets rewarded with big plays. Sanchez throws short and gets picked. eli also throws more, throws deeper, completes a higher percentage of his passes despite playing a more aggressive attack. YOu really want to compare Sanchez "I throw interception on high percentage routes" to Eli Manning "I throw interceptions on 25 yard routes? Over the past 4 seasons Manning has averaged more throws of 20 yards or more than any QB in the league.
The Jets O got the game w/in a score w/ plenty of time left and all 3 TOs, the D allowed Pitt to run the clock out. Mark's first 2 years he threw the ball downfield a lot, he hasn't had a deep threat the last 2 years. Hopefully Hill develops into that deep threat. mark has also helped his team reach 2 postseasons vs. 1 for Eli and the difference btw Eli going to 2 SBs and mark failing in 2 title games was Eli's D played big. Switch the QBs and the team results are the same. Eli is much better right now, mark was better in 2010.
ha ha, not even close. The ONLY thing Mark had better than Manning in 2010 was a lower interception total. The rest of Eli's numbers Sanchez hasn't even been within driving distance. 4,003 yards, 31 TD's, 62.9% completion, 7.4 yards per attempt, Yards per catch 11.8.... Sanchez? don't even make me laugh. And again, if Sanchez can get the ball over the goal line with 1st and goal from the 2 the Jets win. But rather than blame Sanchez you blame the defense for giving up 2 first downs...when the reality is the offense led by your "team leader great Quarterback" failed to score from the 2 yardline. And therein lies the problem Junc, You will make excuses for your boy till teh cows come home. You remind me of the Catholic church when they were jailing people for saying the Earth circled the Sun despite all the evidence. 4 out of 9 drives the offense was 3 and out. on one good drive what do they do have they stall out at 1st and goal on the 2. That's 5 screwed up drives out of 9. So instead you blame the defense for the offenses ineptude, you blame the Defense for not holding after the offense FAILED epically at scoring from the two yard line. YOu'll blame the coaches, you'll blame the O-line, you'll blame the defense, you'd probably blame God before you blamed Sanchez before admitting Sanchez screwed the pooch. You sir are truly the weakest link.
and I know that last post sounds harsh, and it was. But blaming the defnese for not holding in under 3 minutes while giving the offense a pass for a miserable performance and a failed redzone on the final jets drive is just unbearable line of defense.
It's useless trying to argue with him. Every once in a while there are times when you concede a point. But not junc. Once he feels a way about something he'll argue that point until the cows come home. It's ridiculous to sit there and say the defense is the main reason we lost those 2 AFC championship games. Like I told him before the offense can't control what the defense does and vice versa. The aspect of the game that Mark and the offense can control is their side of the ball and they didn't step up when needed. How different would that game be if we were down say 13-17 at the half instead of 24-3?
