Does MM think INTs count as completions?

I believe a lot of Sanchez's accuracy issues arise because he plays scared and does not set his feet throwing off his back foot without power and accuracy. The reason he plays scared and panics so much is he does not know what to do when his first read is not there or when he becomes confused. Everything breaks down from there. I also believe the limited arm strength issues and inability to throw outside the hash marks arise from from throwing off his back foot as well.

IF MM can help him be more decisive, make faster reads and get the ball out rather than devolving quickly into panic mode he will become a much better QB and yes his accuracy should improve.

We have heard all these things before and Sanchez is a QB that always looks much better in shorts on the practice field than when playing live tackle football. But the WC offense does provide him a bit more protection hopefully forcing him to get the ball out quicker. One other strong benefit here is Sanchez is in a situation where he either needs to step up or see his NFL career end. His first 4 years he has been lazy and unwilling to show any toughness or willingness to take a hit. There were some flashes last year early in the season where he showed some signs of actual toughness which we have never seen before. While his stats in the PITT, Houston and some other early games were bad he did for the first time make some strides stepping up in the pocket under a rush. In the 1st Dolphin game he actually stood in the pocket and took some hits while throwing the ball something he almost never does. IMO the Dolphin game was the best he has ever played and the only game he has played in his career where he has looked like a tackle QB rather than a flag football QB. As the season went on and his struggles mounted he quickly regressed to the form he showed the his first three years of panicking and playing blindly. But the point here is if he can be tough, stand in the pocket take hits and play with some guts it alleviates all the other problems we see as then he is no longer panicking, giving up on plays, running around with his head down, forcing throws and throwing off his back foot as he is playing more calmly and in control.

I don't mean to give false hope here as its unlikely Sanchez even at his best could be anything better than a top 25-35 QB but if he can improve to that level we will be a team that can win many games doing what we did in 09-10 by hiding his weaknesses and not letting him throw in passing situations. Assuming of course that our defense can still continue to play at a high level.

Don't know if I agree with that.

Being skittish is one thing, but he's taken some abuse that he could have easily avoided...but would have been detrimental to the play.

*insert Brandon Moore ass joke here*

He needs to limit the INTs in OTAs before we can believe this nonsense.

He has been one of the least pressured and least hit QBs in the league although he takes sacks at a a very high rate when pressured. For example in 2011 the Jet line gave up the 5th least QB hits and 12th least pressures. He avoids hits and often will just lie down rather than take a hit. He almost never will stand in the pocket and attempt to complete a pass while taking a hit like a normal QB. When put under pressure he panics, shuffles his feet, and often drops his head running blindly not seeing where he is going. He simply will not put his body on the line like a NFL QB.

It appears to be a fear thing. The few games where like the Phins game where he has competed and taken hits while trying to help the team his play has improved as he is not running away blindly like a girl (no offense to girls comparing them to Sanchez) but actually trying to compete. The point I mean by lazy is he does not compete. He gives up on plays, is soft (see Terrell Suggs 2011 comments on Sanchez), avoids hits refusing to put his body on the line and plays in fear. It is that playing in fear that causes all his other breakdowns and IMO is major problem. With his career on the verge of ending maybe we will see a little more effort and guts from him than we have seen the last 4 years. We can only hope.

They were very accurate interceptions. Not like the dropped kind.

Sounds like the only thing that is "high" is MM. Must have done whatever he could to get through last year's 4-12 fiasco in Philly. Look, the sooner butt fumble is an ex-jet = the sooner we can stop getting laughed at in the media. Eat that ridiculous contract and then see if Mike ( "Yes, I did guarantee that $8M, will you please quit asking me about it?") Tannebaum's new agency can give Sanchez a job. After all, Rex said many times last year that "Mark gives us the best chance to win!" Ha!

All the talk doesn't mean squat. If Sanchez doesn't step up this summer in
TC and preseason games, he may as well stake out a spot on the bench and get comfy.
