Apparently, the Illuminati is more interested in stats than Lombardi trophies.

And if you had read my post, you would know that Jay-z is little more than the high profile face backed by one of the biggest, oldest, and most successful agency's around.

Jay-z will attract the young talent, CAA will do the actual work when it comes to reping them.

I know who Jay Z is. I know who Master P is. Assuming someone didn't read your post because they have a different opinion than you is intellectually dishonest. My impression is any football player hiring agents that don't typically handle a lot other NFL players are looking to get ripped off based on past experiences of players.

Yes, the CAA is probably competent enough to do it. Still if I was a player I'd be leery of anyone or anything that is just getting into the NFL. NFL contracts are different than NBA contracts for various reasons.

All that said, who cares. I really just hope the guy can play.

The guy that does my lawn runs a successful company too, If they suddenly branched out into doing tax returns, I wouldn't let them do mine until I actually saw they had some success.

There are about a million examples of this sort of thing not working in other business ventures.

But hey, you guys who love Jay Z can just keep saying "OMG ITZ JAYZ IT HAZ TO WORK HOVVVA" because god forbid anyone disagreed with you.

You can't have success until you have your first clients..the fact that he can't get him any more than 4.9 mil for four years makes it a no risk proposition anyway. If he gets him endorsements which nobody else would be able to do it's a win.

what the FUCK are you even arguing about?

Of course Jay Z isn't doing the player/contract representation. Everyone knows this. You need a law degree and even then a great understanding of contract law to be someone's agent. That's what "the suits" are for.. and the firm has plenty of respected "suits."

Jay Z is just a name attached within the firm and will do more of the promotional, marketing, entertainment connections work. Something he's done, and done successfully his whole career.

Like two replies up I said:

" Yes, the CAA is probably competent enough to do it. Still if I was a player I'd be leery of anyone or anything that is just getting into the NFL. NFL contracts are different than NBA contracts for various reasons. '

    Learn to read, fool.

People act as though Jay Z is actually gonna be his agent, lol. Aside from being the owner, Jay Z has virtually nothing to do with this.

Yes NFL contracts are different, good thing the CAA reps 8 out of the last 11 NFL MVPs and 6 out of the last #1 picks. http://sports.caa.com/football.aspx

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Master P was actually Ricky Williams agent while Jay Z is the name associated to the agency and not Geno's agent? That's a big difference. It's like if Jay Z were to buy a minority share in a sports franchise. He's not THE OWNER who does owner things, but his name is associated with it.

NFLPA investigates Roc Nation's recruitment of Geno Smith

The*NFL players union is investigating the recruitment of Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith by Jay-Z’s new agency, according to a report by Albert Breer of*NFL.com.

The union is planning to send a letter of inquiry to Roc Nation Sports agent Kim Miale to gather more information about Jay-Z's involvement in courting Smith. The recently instituted "runner rule" prohibits agents from having colleagues or friends who aren't NFLPA certified agents present for recruiting meetings.

Earlier this week, Smith's adviser John Thornton, a former NFL defensive tackle, was quoted by CBS as saying "I was in those meetings, and Jay-Z connected with him on many levels." Thornton later said he was misquoted.

The real smoking gun might be a picture that Smith posted of Jay-Z and himself on Instagram during the quarterback's recent re-recruitment process, which kicked off after Smith fired agent Jeff Nalley.

Smith is Miale's third client, per NFLPA records, following linebacker Brandon Hicks, who spent time in the Bills' and Steelers' training camps the last two summers, and arena league kicker Carlos Martinez.
