Joe Caporoso @TurnOnTheJets 10m Sounds like Manish moving off #Jets to beat to NFL writer role with NYDN (similar to Hubbuch with Post) guessing Walder moves to beat I wonder how long it will take before his replacement starts with the NYDN anonymous sources to attack the Jets. Manish was actually pretty good for a season or two before he started with the bullshit. edit: Adding this which seems to confirm it. Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 1m Per @TheBigLead, @MMehtaNYDN moving off the Jets beat, into NFL Insider role at NY Daily News. Congrats, bro!
NYDN will bring some guy in that has some kind of journalistic integrity and then wear him down and turn him into some turd that quotes anonymous sources for sensationalism. That's the best case scenario, i.e. what happened with Manish. Worst case is that they find exactly who they are looking for.
Whats worse Byz, is you can Isolate a douchebag...but look how far that worm turd Freemans quote got circulated. Sessler at NFL.com, writes a piece skewering him, but the headline editor writes ithe headline apeing the Freeman piece. Then ESPN picks up on It, only to have Cris Carter, amd another player..horton? basically call it trash, and saying said player shoukd be cut if he actually did say it.
manish was very good. until he got into bed with it appears pettine. then he couldnt write stuff without using the unnamed sorurces. however even though he went full on negative you have to admit his source was a pretty good one.
You need to visit my world, where ESPN only exists when a spring event I care about can only be watched on their network. I haven't seen an episode of SportsCenter in years, haven't wasted my time with whatever their NFL show is called, stay away from their radio stations, and don't read their website. A glorious world.
unless its college football i have no use for espn. its fucking painful to watch at this point. i was in the barbershop the other day and they had it on and they talked about rg3 for over a half an hour. watching him walk around at practice and talking about how can he trust the doctors if they left him in the game. about his dad not trusting them and a whole mess of other bullshit that had nothing to do with anything. they were better when they had gilad jankowitz and worlds strongest man on during the day.
it is pretty glorious. i mean, dont get me wrong, it was so easy to get a lot of throwaway sports info like scores and big headlines and stuff from sportcenter but even sc is just crap nowadays i cant even watch it. i feel cut off from the sports world sometimes cause people will be like, did you see that segment on espn, and i have to be all, i dont watch espn and then that conversation ensues... haha but i digress, espn sucks
oh, and fuck mehta, so glad i dont have to hear his dumbshit questions at the press conferences anymore. also his articles were pretty much always useless from the last like 2 years back. i guess the post gets a guy in there, and then slams em to sell copy, promotes the shill journalist who does whatever the paper wants, and repeats the cycle so they dont completely ruin their relationship with the team. i say fuck em, whomever they get for a replacement is just gonna go the same route all the others have. its a one way ticket to sensationalism. fuck the daily news.
mm did a horrible job covering the jets and has lost all credibility. hopefully cimini follows mm out the door.
ESPN was world-class entertainment during the 80's when cable and 24 hour programming were new and fresh. Right now they're the old guy in the room and they can't keep up with the real reporting so they go scandal-hunting to keep things interesting. The reason you spell ESPN T-E-B-O-W is that they don't have anything to offer a discerning sports viewer so they're going for the crowds whenever and wherever.
they also used to have a couple hours they had to fill with news everyday. now its all day droning on bs and its their own damn fault. they push other programming to their other channels so that people will pay for them. that programming as much as i dont want to see it breaks up the monotony of them filling 14 hours a day with "news" the cable news networks are just as bad if not worse. fucking dan rather used to be able to tell me more in 42 minutes than these assholes do in a 24 hour period of nonsense.
Part of the problem is that ESPN has other channels to push content to now. You cannot maintain any semblance of a good product when you are covering one thing - sports - on multiple channels at the same time and often do not have an actual game on for people to watch. ESPN in the 80's had baseball all spring and summer. They spent 75% of their time covering the grand old game in season. Then they had football news, basketball news, pro and college, and hockey and eye candy like beach volleyball in the fall and winter. That's 4 sports to cover for news melding into the hot stove league in the winter. Then back around to pitchers and catchers and spring training in late February and March. That was a full and fairly cohesive schedule for one channel to cover. Now they have multiple channels and not enough content to fill that and so we get the same old rotation of off-season news rotated every hour on multiple channels. Then ESPN wonders why they have to promote real crap like Tebowmania to survive.
later bitch hopefully we get someone fresh...this season is a good one to not have douchebag reporters around trying to make a story
