I'm pretty sure Couch was the QB the last time the Browns made the playoffs but he was a monumental bust. I think they would have won that game if their D could have made a stop against the Steelers.

Couch didn't win a playoff game and he had a chance to prove 2002 was a fluke. Tebow may never get that chance. His only year starting he took his team to the div rd, a year later w/ a HOFer how far did Den get? the div rd.

Be real Junc, the Denver Defense in the wins under tebow was better and didn't give up a big play.

But it's getting very clear that you love QB's that everyone else says is a horrible QB...case in point, Tebow is a free agent, anyone can sign him and he's still without a job and will remain out of a job.

Of course the Den D played a huge role but that team wasn't going anywhere until Tebow became QB and as bad as he was at times he made plays to win. At no point did I say Tebow is good QB, there is a reason he couldn't play for us and can't find work at the moment. I think he can play in this league, he's just not a QB. regardless of that he has a winning record in this league and gave Den it's only playoff win since 2006 so I don't view that as a bust especially considering no one thought he could have any success.

But when your comparing one post season that he rode the defense and them compare him to a hall of fame QB then the point you now claim to have been making isn't the point you were making.

If the Defense doesn't give up a big play Manning wins that playoff game, that's without debate.

and if peyton doesn't allow 17 pts directly off his TOs they win. Tebow won a playoff game in OT in a game where he didn't get 14 gift pts from STs. Manning got 14 gift pts and still failed.

Tebow was never expected to be a good NFL QB or even a starter, there's no way he can be considered a bust since his lone season was a successful one.

This cracks me up, you say Tebow was never expected to be a good nfl QB, or even a starter...but then go on to say that a 1st round QB can't be considered a bust despite not being a good QB. You see Junc this is a classic example of out of context representation and over emphasis of a team aspect and applying it to one individual.

It's not Tim's fault that McDaniels was foolish enough to take him in rd 1. Tebow helped Den win a lot of games in 2011 and then won a playoff game, something they couldn't do a year later w/ more talent and the great Peyton Manning.

Byron Leftwich has to be on this list somewhere. 7th overall by Jacksonville
and has less than 11,000 career passing yards. More int's than td's, and
could never complete a full season.

It's not Sanchez's fault Tanny drafted him #5 in the draft, but that's where he was selected and it's where he'll be graded as.

Your a classice "it's not his fault" guy. Every excuse in the book you will throw out there hoping something will stick.

yep and he's 4-2 in postseason where he was an outstanding postseason QB. The goal is to win, right? he's only played 4 years and has the double the playoff wins of any QB in Jets history.

you're giving him credit for 'winning' but then making excuses for why the team sucked last year. if you can give Sanchez credit for 'winning' in 09 and 10 then he should get credit for the failures of 11 and 12 right?

he played a big role in helping us win and helping us lose.

There are supposed much better QBs who have had(and have) much more talent than we had those 2 years that struggle in postseason. People act like we had the '85 Bears D and the '99 Rams talent on O around the QB which just isn't true. We had quality talent and even the best talent needs quality QB play to win and we got more than just quality.

The team was 4-2 in the playoffs, but Mark in 3 of the 4 wins was only asked not to screw the pooch and he was limited in what he was allowed to do. So much so that in all 6 playoff games, wins and losses, he only attempted a total of 157 passes, or 26 passes per game. 66 of the attempts were in the two losses, which means, yes do the math, 91 pass attempts in 4 wins, or 22.75 pass attempts per game. But wait, it gets better.

Of Marks touchdown's in their wins he had 5 TD throws in 4 wins, but 3 of those TD throws came in his one good game against the Patriots.
In none of the wins did he break the 200 yard mark.

Translation, the Jets won by and large by not giving Sanchez the option to muck it up and kept the ball out of his hands as much as possible.

And yes, your argument is the point is to win. But here's the thing, you don't get a chance to win in the playoffs if you can't win in the regular season. Mark has shown that without a top flight staff he can't win in the regular season, and without a top flight running game and defense he can't win in the post season either.

Mark Leads ALL players in fumbles in the last 3 years, and probably the last 4. He's also among the league leaders in turnovers for the past 4 seasons. He's the least accurate starting QB over that time period despite focusing mostly on a short passing game.

So lets see, least accurate, least adept at protecting the ball, among the lowest in yards per attempt...exactly what is there about Sanchez to like?

Nothing but a hashish dream that Mark "played well" in 3 of 4 playoff games.
He did play very well in one playoff game, I have and always will say that was a very good game, but that's it.

Wrong, best talented teams only need a Qb that doesn't constantly screw the pooch in a given year, case in point Trent Dilfer with Baltimore for example for one season for example. Just don't muck it up and let the defense and running game carry the team.

He played a big role in each of our 4 playoff wins whether you want to admit it or not.

Stop looking at boxscores and start watching games. It's amazing how on one hand you give Joe Namath so much credit for winning the SB when in his 2 playoff wins he had 3 TDs and all 3 came in one game but you bash Mark for 5 TDs in 4 playoff wins w/ one game where he had 3.

Watch the games is the best advice I can give you or better yet watch w/ someone who understands the game. It will help you better understand what you are watching.

Dilfer was Vital to that SB run, what stat fans like you fail to realize is that you don't have to throw for 300 yds to have a good game. Sometimes not making mistakes is as important as making plays. Dilfer made plays and limited mistakes. Baltimore had plenty of great defenses the last decade but didn't win a SB until they finally got quality QB play in their postseason run.

Baltimore thought they had a better QB in 2001, they didn't even make the title game. This game is about more than stats w/o context. Why didn't those great Bears Ds win more? why didn't TB win more in the 00s? why didn't Bal win more in the 00s?

By the way, the running game that carried Trent-

    WC game: 3.3 YPC
    div rd: 2.6 YPC
    title game: 2.9 YPC
    SB: 3.5 YPC

Figured you'd play the Namath card, again. Big difference, Namath was a BIG reason the Jets got to the playoffs, mark wasn't.
Namath got the Jets to the Superbowl, Mark didn't.
Namath was consistantly through the first 6 or 7 years of his career an elite QB, mark hasn't been.
Namath won several season awards over his career, mark hasn't
Namath set passing records, one of which stood until the league changed the passing rules more than a decade later...mark, not so much
Namath is the game he didn't throw a touchdown pass in still threw for over 200 yards against the leagues best Defense and Namaths presence on the field forced the Colts to focus on the passing game which opened the running game.
Mark, noone fears mark's passing game and good defense stacked the box against the run, hence unable to pass through the playoffs.

Did Namath win the Superbowl for the Jets, no, but the opponents fear and respect of Namath's passing game did open up the running game and Namath STILL was one of only 3 QB's to throw for 200 or more yards in a Superbowl until the late 70's early 80's.

Meanwhile Mark couldn't break 200 yards passing in a VERY pass friendly rule system where 200 yards is considered a weak effort..

Yes Junc I watched the games, and they exactly support the stats.

People who argue that stats don't matter are usually trying to avoid the actual fact of the matter. and stats existed long before any "fantasy leagues" or Fantasy Football existed.
They always have been, and always will be, the measure under which QB's are measured.

And those that don't understand the difference between the game's rules in regards to passing compared to now truly are less than average fans.
