But but but but did Fitzpatrick, Gabbert, McCoy lead their teams to back to back conference championship games? Did they win 4 road playoff games? If not then Sanchez>>>all those QB's.
For Every Drew Brees there are 50 that just never amount to anything. That said, Mark Sanchez isn't early Drew Brees, Brees in his first season as a starter completed better than 60% of his passes, in fact he's only been under 60% one time in his career. Brees only threw more picks than interceptions once in his career, the year he only started 11 games. Brees had only thrown fewer than 3000 yards once, again in his 11 start season. Brees in his first 5 seasons had never thrown more than 16 interceptions. Brees in his first 5 sesons only had 2 seasons under 20 TD's. One of those was, you guessed it, his 11 start season. By ages 25 and 26 Brees was completing 65% of his passes, Sanche barely broke 56%. Sanchez's BEST completion percentage is worse than Brees's worst. By Brees's 4th year he had raised his Completion percentage by 5%, Sanchez 1.4% My advice, stop eating junk food for thought. There is no comparison here.
If Sanchez becomes like Drew Brees (winning division titles and superbowls) I'll give Hobbes and nyjunc 50 dollars each. paypal and all...
Hobbes just because one QB's career turned out one way it doesn't mean Sanchez is gonna follow that path. Brees in his 3rd season showed much more promise than Sanchez in year 3 or 4. Now imagine if Brees played like Sanchez in 2012, he would have been downright cut.
Brees got benched in his second season as a starter for having better numbers than Sanchez....Now that's food for thought.
LT and Antonio Gates alone should nullify this comment. Sanchez has never had the type of talent that Brees had with those two alone.
No one said he is going to be Drew Brees. However, many quarterbacks, took several years to flourish. And, in our case youre talking about a guy saddled with a shit OC, and then a Non OC OC. Drew Brees was playing for Cam Cameron, you know a guy thats actually, a better han average DC. Amd FWIW...I didnt write the article.
No, it doesnt. Cam Cameron > Schttenheimer, and Gates,Lt? I guess Sanchez has had prime HOF talent at skill positions. Its not just Brees. Look at Steve Young. Took him longer.
QB still has to make the throw to the reciever and be accurate with the throw. But I'm not the one who makes the comparioson. I simply pointed out that the year Brees got benched he was still doing better than Most of what we see from Sanchez.
if you handle your retirement funds the same way you Project Sanchez to be a late bloomer then I'd guess your retirement plan depends on hitting 6 numbers in a lottery. Could Sanchez be a late bloomer? Sure, problem is when you study the trends of late bloomers you see that when you compare their seasons before age 25 to their seasons at ages 25 and 26 you see at minimum about a 5% improvement in their performance....Sanchez is at 1.2% in that comparison. Could he turn the corner?? sure, but like almost all late bloomers it will most likely be with another team. I for one am not willing to sit around hoping that Sanchez is a late bloomer, they're a rare breed.
And here's the thing, I could live with Sanchez's 55% completion rate and his somewhat above or below 3k yards passing and sub 20TD numbers If, and this is a big IF, he started taking care of the ball and being a ball manager. But you can not throw 18+ interceptions and be at or near the top in fumbles in almost every year if your going to be a 55% completion sub 20 TD QB. Some fumbles are going to happen, But interceptions are one thing that 90% of the time you can't blame on the receivers, intercpetions, by and large lay squarely and firmly on the QB's shoulders.
And really when your fumbling as often as Sanchez fumbles, that's gotta fall largely on his shoulders as well.
Exactly Sanchez sucking had nothing to do with who he was throwing. Decision making, pocket presence, accuracy etc is all on Sanchez. He lacks all that.
...he tossed 26 tds in 2011....ran in 6 more. He doesnt need to be a game manager, he should be a QB. Jets were second in Red Zone efficiency, so by the available observable evidence...he performed well with decent Coaching. Not so much otherwise. Now...to go just a bit further the Redzone is the hardest area to operate in, because the defense is playing on a short field. Its not a great leap of logic, or faith...that the right coach...gets that kind of play, in the other 80 yards. And..if you want to argue MM vs.Schotty, or Sparano...you're welcome to it. Clearly the fumbling is an issue, but thats correctable.
Decision making, and accuracy, are also functions of System. Look at Testaverdes carreer. He went from Sucking, to Average, to Pretty good. Same guy, different venues.
