Not really. Bad coaching hires, skewing the cap toward a handful of players on the roster, bad FA contracts...many things factored in to Tannys demise.
Bullshit, giving millions of dollars to a bust at QB is what led to his demise. Plain and simple. If Mark Sanchez played as well as Stafford Tanny would still have a job, and our team would have two superbowls.
FTR, Mark Sanchez has a completion percentage of just under 27% for his career for balls thrown over 20 yards in the air. That's pretty bad.
On the original topic, the Jets have taken some injury risks in their moves this spring. Some of those are not going to pan out due to the fact the player has an injury history that creates a higher risk of injury than a normal player. This is the main reason that the outlook for 2013 remains flat at this point. Without the injury risks the Jets roster would actually look reasonable at this point and possibly a marginal playoff contender. With the injury risks there's some real downside. I think we're going to be really glad the Jets focused on the trenches in the draft. That's where injuries have their greatest effects and the Jets are pretty well stocked on the lines right now.

It seems like now you are really on this redzone offense thing? Is this the new "Rueland, Gates, Gilyard, Cumberland" thing? Yes, we did have a good redzone offense ONE year while Sanchez was here. As average as Plaxico was in between the 20's, he was very good in the redzone. Redzone efficiency also includes the running game too so that has to be factored in as well... But yes, he was good in the redzone, I will give him that. How about the 26 turnovers though? Or the 56% completion percentage? You see what happens when Mark doesnt have a top 5 defense behind him over the final stretch of the season? As bad as the defense was (and yes it was absolutely horrible to Eagles game), he still turned the ball over 9 times in 3 games. As much as you want to blame on the defense, 3 turnovers per game is going to hurt you just as much. Im not a "Geno ballwasher".... No... My only interest is in the team winning and having quality QB play, rather than a single player. Being that I do not (along with the majority in the sports world, seemingly including the organization itself) support poor QB play, yes, I am going to be 100% for change at the position. Being that Geno was the best QB in the draft and had a very good college career, yes, I am going to get behind him and hope that he can turn this ship around. And despite what your brain tries to misconstrue, the organization is in fact moving away from Mark Sanchez as their QB. Remember when before the draft you consistently said that the Jets would not draft a QB because Mark Sanchez is the clear QB? Well how'd that work out...
He makes them when they count, and...i would suspect without looking, thats not as far below average as you think. Go check the Favorite Sanchez Moments thread. Most of them are on the throws in question.

The "red zone" thing, is illustrative, because the only variable is the coaching. As to his completion oercentage, yes... Its sub standard, but...it has gone up in each of his first three years. And part of that, is play calling and design. And fwiw..the difference between 56 and 60pct, is about two catches a game. The Draft? Worked out well. All you Geno ballwashers swore we were taking him at 9, or 13..if....:rofl2: he was still on the board. At 39... Hes a value pick.

If it's a Tebow thread eventually Sanchez comes up. If it's a McElroy thread eventually Sanchez comes up. If it's a Garrard thread eventually Sanchez comes up. If it's a Smith thread, well eventually Sanchez comes up. I think that's a pretty clear indication that Sanchez is highly polarizing on the fan base, at least when it comes to internet discussions. The fact that every thread about any QB and the NY Jets eventually turns into a Sanchez sucks/Sanchez is a lonely orphan child who was fed bread and water for two years argument is a pretty clear indicator that the Jets should move on *before* any competition in camp. There's no point to having a built-in "hate Geno because he beat out Sanchez in an unfair competition" element moving forward and obviously, like Tebow, Sanchez has irrational fans who will wind up there in the end if he's allowed to compete this summer.
Wow people are still blaming MS for Austin Collie, Garçon, and Mendenhall balling on the Jets defense? Unbelievable. Draft, extension, priorities, depth. Tanny failed at all 4 aspects. Stafford is awesome because he has Calvin Johnson, he throws to him in triple coverage lol
So should saying "hey go check the list of greatest Mark Sanchez moments and you'll see how good he is" as backup to your point.
Meh...not worth the effort. We all know those hands on Mangolds ass will be familiar ones...and time will tell the rest. What will be interesting, is....if MM does make chicken salad out of chickenshit, and the Jests make the playoffs, or, even contend..will be the predictable..."if Geno omly started, VLT" talk.
Unfortunately Sanchez will be associated with the butt fumble forever and that along with him being a turnover machine is why he should never take a meaning ful snap for the Jets. The Jets need to find out about Smith ASAP. If he's not the guy, you get a QB next year.
I've said for a millionth time now. I wanted Sanchez to start this season. I didn't think either Garrard or GMac had the toughness to withstand the full season's abuse. Garrard just proved it now. I didn't want Geno to start either - he's but a rookie. Jets started a rookie a while ago, with pretty decent success a while ago; only, it was short-lived. Jets did absolutely their worst to keep up with the prized QB. That mistake shouldn't be repeated. The way it stands, the offense is still a few players away from being competent, let alone dominant. Why risk ruining a rookie now?
I'm glad Garrard did this BEFORE THE SEASON instead of in the middle of it. Looks like Geno will have to learn his craft the old fashioned way. OJT.
