"NEW YORK -- Two more members of the New York Jets front office have been let go, as new general manager John Idzik continues his makeover of the franchise.

Assistant GM Scott Cohen and director of football administration Ari Nissim will not have their contracts renewed, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com. The ousters of Cohen and Nissim were earlier reported by the New York Daily News and New York Post, respectively.

Cohen was one of three finalists for the GM position after Mike Tannenbaum was fired following last season. But the Jets decided to bring in Idzik, as opposed to promoting Cohen.

Last week, assistant director of player personnel JoJo Wooden left the Jets to become the San Diego Chargers' director of player personnel. Area scout Kevin Kelly followed Wooden to San Diego.

After the draft last month, the Jets also decided not to renew the contracts of assistant director of college scouting Michael Davis and area scout Joe Bommarito.

Idzik has already made plenty of changes on the field, too -- the biggest being the trade of All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the release of quarterback Tim Tebow and the drafting of West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith."

Good moves. This regime had to rid some of the Tanny selection process and negotiating methodology.

More change is good as long as its not for the sake of change

i highly doubt it is. he wants his people in there, not tannys leftovers. he wants people that understand his vision and will help him achieve it.

Nice to see Idzik bringing in his own people, gives me some hope that he'll do the same when it comes to the coaching staff after this season.

I remember when Scott Cohen was a finalist for the GM job. Months later he's been let go...

Don't know if you remember the hair band era.

Look up a group called Cinderella. They had a top 10 song that pertains to your comment.

Rod Graves. Former Cardinals GM, Idzik worked under him.

Ok, don't know what you're talking about, but 80's hair band music was horrible.

Scott Cohen, the name that sent every SOJF over the ledge during the GM search. I used to legitimately laugh reading the SOJF posts:

"OMG DATS IT IM DUN WIT DIS TEAM COHEN IS A TANNY GUY WOoDY IS AN IDIOT REX IS RUNNING THINGS#$%@$!!"

  14. Dont wanna go completely off topic but do not mess with hair metal.. Ill leave it at that

Everyone is being put on notice and its just a matter of time for Rex. Ken Whisenhunt will be next years coach.

Rod Graves? Under what capacity. Did a pretty shit job in ARZ imo.
"Graves' run with the Cardinals included only two winning seasons in 10 years as GM" nice... -.-"

I was thinking the same thing Mambo ... but I'll sit back and see what Idzik does. So far I trust this guys judgement.

Agreed. Everytime the Jets make a move I disagree with I hope I turn out to be dead wrong with my pre-judgement!

In this case I think it helps that they worked together... it means Idzik has a good understanding of what type of person he's bringing in the organization.
