How wbout we just settle for a decent cast and decent coaching. Here is what youre looking for. Jets offense, 2011 coached by Scottenheimer...25th overall Jets Red Zone offense, tutored by Tom Moore, 2nd in tte NFL. Sanchez puts up 32 scores. 26 in the air,6 by leg. Same QB, same team, two coaches, two results.
ok ok ok i have a new theory!!!!! everyone gather round my soap box so i can put my theory out there. i think petro has hired junc to keep traffic flowing on the board, he works 8 to 5 and is required to be inflammatory and get people to post back and forth with him. this is juncs actual job. this is why he ALWAYS gets involved in the hot topics and ALWAYS takes the role of the underdog, he then single handedly keeps the thread going and going and going by continually grabbing people into his vortex. he has the ability to change the argument and to always bring other completely inflammatory (peyton manning and brett favre) things into the topic just so long as people keep on clicking reply. this has happened again and again, herm, pennington, shottenheimer, sanchez... probably hackett too. shit even joe namath .................................. i in no way think this is actually what is happening and would never accuse petro of doing something like that. but that was a fun type. however the only way i can see to stop it is to stop replying to him. he wont have anything more to say. of course he will probably start calling people out that he has defeated them in a ploy to get them back into the vortex!
If you stopped posting in threads I am in I will forget we ever debated, I am good at forgetting irrelevant things. I appreciate the support, it's always nice to have fans. I try to help you, I can't force it upon anyone. If you want to become more knowledgeable you'll pay attention and learn but you choose the other route and that's why you cannot keep up in discussions.
Did Peyton get 169 yards and 2 TDs from his running game? Oh, he only got 58 yards and 1 TD. Did Peyton's D hold the Steelers to 16 points? Oh, his D allowed 21 points in 3 quarters. Besides those little things like facing a higher ranked D and not getting any help from the running game, the situations were almost identical. Lol! Those little things are just ranking and stats though which mean nothing. I am still trying to get to where I can argue like you and ignore the rankings and try and tell you how the Colts 23rd ranked D was MUCH better than the Steelers 3rd ranked D, but I told you, I am not a SuperFan yet. A SuperFan is able to tell that our #1 and #3 ranked Ds were not great. Mark's top ranked rushing offense wasn't that great. Mark was ranked 27th, but he really was top 10. Interceptions that come when you are in FG range become GREAT punts. I'm trying Junc, but I am not on your level yet. I'm still just an average fan.
Or how about a QB that plays so good that no one cares who the OC is? Redskins fans complained about Kyle Shanahan then they draft RG III and Kyle Shanahan is a genius now? McDaniel was considered a great OC in NE, he goes to Denver and the fans hate him, McDaniel goes back to NE and he's a genius again? The one year we had a great QB (Favre) we had a top 10 offense, then they draft Sanchez and we have a middle of the road offense at best. QB's that can execute a game plan is better than average QB's that "needs to be coached up"
smh... i cant argue with someone who will not actually argue the topic. there is not 8524 posts worth of arguing that can even happen. my stance is that mark sanchez is not a good qb, he will be cut in short order and that even when he was performing at his "best" it still wasnt very good and the jets won games in spite of him more often than because of him. i/we have given a hundred different reasons why this is the case and we have been rebuffed because we are average football fans. that pretty much sums it up, the topic has been rehashing the same bs for the past 5000 posts. yes i will not say anything if i dont have anything to add to the topic. time to throw some people back on ignore, i tried abyzmul i really did. but i obviously failed. my apologies to everyone for the last few posts.
lol @ arguing Peyton Manning's team was favored by more when the main reason that team was favored was because of Peyton Manning. That has gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Oh shit, nevermind...
what did the run game do for either QB on the last drive? obviously the Ds knew they had to pass so how is a run game coming into play? Peyton calls plays, right? you know they ran it only 14 times for over 4YPC so whose fault is it that they ran so few? Indy was also down big at the half, they really couldn't afford to run it. Those little things have been debunked. stop worrying about rankings, you also fail to note that Peyton was at HOME and had MUCH better weapons at his disposal. That makes up for any differences in the Ds they faced. Did the #1 D prevent Peyton from getting a 1st down on 2nd and 3rd and 1 at the Pitt 28? it was the Pitt D that made him take 2 shots to the EZ rather than get closer for his K? Interesting. You aren't on my level and w/ that attitude you never will be. I have dropped numerous levels in the last few years b/c I don't have the time to watch tape like I did pre married and kids days but I am still so far above you that you can't see me. Instead of hurling insults please pay attention so you can help yourself. we had a good OC, we made 2 title games w/ that OC and a young QB. Favre stunk for us, if he tried we could have gone a long way though. There's that pesky little reading thing again. Seriously, if you guys can't read then please ask someone who can to read it to you.
and the main reason they lost was Peyton manning. Thanks for reinforcing the point. GREAT reg season QB, mediocre postseason QB. It's so cute when you guys try to share your own thoughts.
How about a decent coach for the oter 80 yards. Why dont you give us the benefit of your wisdom, and tell us what QB would have elevated the offense last year. And in 2008, they were 16 in total offense. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...erence=ALL&role=TM&season=2008&seasonType=REG With a HoF QB...so if you are blaming Sanchez, with that argument you are defacto defending Schotty. And FWIW, the reason the clawed their way to 16, is because Favre, with his big arm, refused to run large parts of Schottys offense.
@junc Schotty gets more blame than he deserved he was a decent OC. @Hobbes Rodgers, Brees, Brady, the Manning's, Big Ben. Our receiving corp wasn't great but it is nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be.
This is why it's impossible to argue with you. You pick and choose what's identical and what's not. Pittsburgh went on to beat a 13 win Denver team in Denver by double digits. They then did the same to a 13 win Seahawks team in the Super Bowl. They were the team playing the best football at the time. Rankings that strongly favor Pitt aside, it's simply a fact that the '05 Steelers had a better defense than the 2010 Colts. I doubt you'd seriously argue against that. They had a better team than the 2010 Colts. They had a better record and played in a tougher division. You can argue that home field outweighs all of that but I strongly disagree. Give me that better team every time. Mark made throws on that last possession that helped contribute to that win and that's good for him. Could have made it easier by not having a horrendous first half but fair enough, he was put in a position to win at the end of the game and he did. Now how does that help the Jets going forward if he's needs an all-star cast with like 15 former first round picks on the squad to get him into those positions? Wouldn't you rather have a QB that can help mask the problems instead of the other way around? You can write off stats all you want, but things like completing 60% of your throws in the modern NFL is damn near a requirement from a starting QB. You at least need a strong YPA if you're not. There's a reason Sanchez made 60% completion a stated goal (which he failed to reach) in 2011. There's a reason Ryan reads back stats in his presser. It matters. Solid play will almost always reflect in stats over a large sample size. It's not the only thing we look at but you're foolish you think it's not important.
McDaniels was the OC in Denver....Really? Apples and oranges. He wasnt ready to run the franchise as HC. Lots of guys are just coordinators. MM, Dick Lebeau. Charlie Weiss. Tom Moore. But..since that basic fact escapes you....(as do the actual Total offense stats)...its clear that your perception is sort of skewed. Schottenheimer needed one of the best QBs to play the game, to get to 16. Hes a shitty coach. A great coach, got Sanchez 32 scores and 2nd in the NFl in red zone efficiency, while the total offense finished 25 overall. Take away Moore, they probably finish dead last. But that is as close as a laboratory controlled experiment as you can get. 2 coaches, one offense. The players have not been the problem, particularly not the QB. No one is saying the guy is Joe Montana, but...fcol..it cant be more obvious than the 2011 results.
Sample size. 16 games. Offenses. 1. Coaches. 2. Result, Red zone, 2nd best in the NFL, QB gets 32 scores. The other 80 yards, 25 th overall. Worse if you factor out the red zone stats. So, of stats matter, how does a guy thats second best in the NFL in the red zone with one coach, near last with the other? Are the p,ayers the issue, or does the expirement suggest we look at the C?
You are joking right? Holmes, gone for the season.keller and Hill miss another 16 games or so. Even then Hill is a rookie as green as Sanchez was, and cost the NE game with a drop. Schillens,Gilyard,Gates,Rueland. And. First year RT in Howard. Even Esiason, said, verbatim, no QB could have been successful under last years circumstances. And he hates Sanchez. And I wont belabor the point about the horrendous guard play, suffice it to say, there is a reasson they were both allowed to walk. 2012 was a systemic failure. But..ok lets presume your pie in the sky proposition is true. Thats 6 QBs. Ok. Ill concede that, for the sake of discussion, (but brady would have been fucked because he makes his living underneath, and Sparano doesnt call those routes, 41 catches out of the backfield in 2012) But, against 2012, you have a guy with four road playoff wins, beating both Manning, and Brady on the road, beat Ben, on the road in 2010. And...increased his completion pct. every year thru 2011, and ended 2011 with 32 scores. Oh, and 2 AFCCG starts.
